I have used it but found it to not be as helpful for what your trying to do. it will result in a new table that has FID's that you then need to match up, It will not show you unique results. Using that tool to find identical results would still result in you having to manually delete entries. If you only have a hundred or so duplicates that isn't a big deal

Just to clarify are you looking to delete duplicate records in a Table or a Feature Class which has an attribute Table. If it is JUST a table. open it in Access. Copy all the records and paste them into an Excel Document. Paste as Text Select your columns that contain the duplicate data and click on the Data Tab>Sort & Filter>Advanced In the pop up window select the unique records only option. It will strip out all duplicates. Save your table and replace the table in your database. For goodness sake make a back up first.

Try this. start a blank MXD session. Add only the XY table and create the event from the XY. Then export that to a database that's in the projection you want. When using decimal degree data it seems to default to the proper projection for displaying the raw data. I just did it with the xy you posted and it comes up as Alexander Valley School.

Since writing my last reply I then saw Mark Boucher answer and it reminds me of something I do. I created a simple batch file to automatically back up the databases I work with on my computer and compress them automatically. I simply click the icon first thing every morning and it starts the programs I want every morning (email, browser, ArcGIS), compresses my active databases and backs them up to the network. Editing on a personal computer, as Mark wrote, is significantly faster in our environment then working off a hard drive on a server somewhere

I would like to see an option that will lock a layer. Often I have a layer that I need to be able to select so I can see it's attributes. However, I don't want to be able to move them. Example. I am working with staking data in an electric distribution system. I am snapping conductor and assemblies to poles. I need to be able to select the pole so I can see what it's attachements are but I want to NOT be able to move that pole.
