Cristian, Can you provide more details on what Firewall rules? I am having the same problem, and I suspect that the Firewall might be the issue, but not sure how to figure it out. Thank you!

Hi Patrick, Have you figured this out? We just started experiencing the 500 error on Chrome Version 102.0.5005.63 (the latest one). We have Portal for ArcGIS site and we provide PDF files on this site. PDF files are a part of the Portal content. Some users get the 500 error and some don't. After looking at the web logs I found the following: When the PDF file is requested there is status is 200 (you can see the browser spinning trying to get the content), then immediately the log shows status 401 for the same file, and then error 500. PDF files are shared with everyone. Clearing the browser's cache and cookies do not resolve the issue. There are no issues on Edge or IE. I don't seem to have this issue with services published to the host server.

Josh, Just wanted to let you know that I was able to use a Map Image Layer in ArcGIS Online. It worked perfectly and performance is great. Darina

Thank you so much for testing, Josh! This is a good news. For this project we will be creating a new 10.9.1 environment, so we should be good. Hope, only the version is the issue.

There is a "Allow Elements re-size" option in the General tab of the Dashboard settings. I am not sure if it helps any, but you can try.

Thank you, Josh! But don't waste too much time on this. I was hoping that somebody has already dealt with it and has a solution. Darina

Hi Josh, The Map Image Layer is comprised of multiple individual map service layers and does not support the query operation. Each layer that it contains supports it. The Map Image Layer supports the Export Map operation, which has the Layer Definitions parameter and can be filtered this way. We had 2 dashboard created, one with the Portal Dashboard and one with Tableau. The Tableau map had no issues displaying the data, as I would assume it creates an image on the server. And with the Portal Dashboard I could not provide a map that performs reasonably, because I am forced to use Feature Layers, which require many rounds to the server to bring the data that is contained within each tile. And I have to increase the maxRecordCountFactor to actually get all the data back. The Dashboard overwhelms the browser and it freezes. And I get it, we shouldn't show that much data on a map. I just have to find a solution. And the Map Image Layer could be the solution if it works.

Hi Shannon, I know it has been a while, but did you find a solution for this problem? I am having the same issue with a layer that has over 100k+ points and need to use a map service (not feature). Thank you!

Hi Josh, I want to filter what is displayed on the map by the selection of a chart part or category selector. And that is where everything falls apart because I can't add the map layer as a target in Actions. I have no problems using the layer as a data source of the chart. Just can't make the chart and map talk to each other. A feature layer works fine but draws very slowly and kills the browser with a lot of data requests (100k+ points). A Map Image Layer on the other hand creates one image on the server and responds a lot faster, and does not overload the browser. I am not sure if the Map image Layer is not supported, or I am doing something wrong.

Portal for ArcGIS 10.8.1 Layer is published from ArcGIS Pro 2.7. Over 100K records. If I add a map with a Map Image Layer to the dashboard and then add a chart. I can't add the map image layer as a target in the Chart actions. It displays "No elements supporting actions yet" .This is valid for any other elements. I need to use Map Image Layer as the data is huge and this is the only layer type that would draw fast enough. What do I need to do be able to use the layer in the Action targets in a dashboard elements. Thank you! Darina

Hello, I am having a problem displaying a PDF from a gallery item also (having a problem with feature layers too, from a category card). The PDF is in the hub content group. The hub is shared with the Organization, and also is the PDF. I am logged in and I am an Admin. When I click the button to open it, I just stare at the loading animation. The only way to make the PDF to show up is to clear the browser's cache (Chrome). Then it immediately loads. If I try again to click the button and open the PDF, it again does not load until I clear the cache. If anybody has found a solution, please, share. Thank you!

Thank you, Shwu-jing Jeng! Your question about specifying a default basemap for the survey made me research of how to do this, and after I selected a different basemap than the one currently showing in Connect, I was able to see a map in the survey page. I didn't realize I had to do that because I was already seeing a map in Connect. My Connect app is version 3.9.120, to answer your question. And the issue was observed in both Chrome and IE. Thank you for your help! Problem solved! Darina

Hello guys, Just started with Survey123 and created a very simple survey and published it to Portal. But when I try to use the option "Open the survey in the browser directly" from the Collaborate menu on the Survey123 website, the map on my survey never loads (see NoMap.png and NoMapConsole.png attachments). I also deployed some surveys from the EOC ArcGIS Solutions (through the solutions deployment tool in ArcGIS Pro). When I use one of these forms and open it in the browser, I get a map (see Map.png and MapConsole.png attachments). What am I missing? I tried designing a survey through the Survey123 Website and the desktop Connect app. Same result, no map. Thank you for your time! Darina

Anthony, I haven't looked at your code, but I would suggest that you publish the service with the "Show Messages" parameter set to "Info", so you can get some more info about the error and find exactly where it happens. Here is the link explaining the setting: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/10.6/publish-services/windows/geoprocessing-service-settings-parameters.htm Also, for your output parameter I would make "final" to be in the scratch workspace: final = os.path.join(arcpy.env.scratchGDB, "ZonalOutput") And to make my service return the data I set the parameter like this: arcpy.SetParameter(1, final) This discussion helped me resolve my geoprocessing service issues: https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/183188/arcgis-geoprocessing-service-output-location Good Luck!

Hi Dawn If by actual points you mean feature class, it is probably correct that they perform better in ArcMap. But I wouldn't convert an XY table into a feature class, unless performance is really tanking. I doubt that you will notice the difference in a map service. But you can always test. Create a feature class from the XY table in the SDE, add it to a map document. Then add the XY table to that document and create and XY event layer. Publish the service and test the performance. Have a great day! Darina
