Shouldn't you be using Union rather than Intersect? I don't understand why the point is not exactly at the intersection point. That doesn't make sense. But would "Planarise lines" in the Advanced editing toolbar do what you want?

Sorry, but I don't understand. How is the result of the Con / IsNull calculation not what you want? You have only 2 values, a bunch of zeros and a bunch of ones???

Just to confirm... When you make a XY event layer from this table you are specifying that the input coordinates are a geographic coord sys? TM65_Irish_Grid is some form of projected system.

If the raster is very large, you may be running into memory problems with the 32bit application. Even though you have much more physical memory than that, ArcMap can only access 4Gb. Can you try your workflow / tool in Pro? 64bit based, so memory should not be a problem.

Can you also try arcpy.Exists(r"path to sde connection file.sde")

This is not going to work: arcpy.env.workspace = r"Database Connections\Connection to sde.sde" The script has no idea where your user profile will be. Copy the full path as Joe suggests. Or copy the sde file to a local space and use that.

Some more info would be helpful, ArcGIS version, etc etc. What is the grid expression that generates this error? If by "grid" you are doing raster calculations as esri grid files, one thing could be spaces or other funny stuff in your path to the data.

What happens when you set env.workspace = "my connection file.sde" in your python script? Are you using os.path.join() to construct the path pointer to the connection file? Or just raw strings.

Can you browse the database in ArcCatalog once you have opened the connection file? Just setting env.workspace = "my connection file.sde" has always worked for me. What happens?

If your data is appearing somewhere here : Then the data is in degrees and not really in a Stateplane projection. Check you the extents by looking at the properties of the lasd
