Hi Kyle, In short, no I wasn't able to find a solution. My workaround was to create a new attribute (Attribute 3) which concatenated the values from Attribute1 and 2 respectively. I used Attribute 3 to derive my 'unique' symbology, as opposed to an expression of Attributes 1 and 2 which would compromise the display of values in Attribute 1. Hope that makes sense!

Issue has been resolved. Portal Admin was able to find another service with the same name living on the server somewhere and were able to delete it for me. All works now!

Hi Josh, I can confirm there is no service by the same name in the Hosted server. I may not have access to view content across all the other folders so it might be possible there is something by the same name lingering elsewhere.

Hi all, In my development and testing I have created, deleted and recreated a hosted feature service many times on my Enterprise Portal. Now that I have nailed down my design and workflow I am unable to publish the service using the same unique name I have in the past. Now I receive an error saying the service fails to publish. I have checked to see if there is content by this unique name on the Hosted server, or in 'My Content' and there isn't. I have flushed all the Staging data in my 'Local' data, but alas I am still having problems publishing. If I change the name of the service, the service will publish no problems at all. The problem is I want to have the service with this unique name which won't publish... Any thoughts as to what is causing this and how I can resolve it?

I have an ArcGIS Pro project with a layer of data I wish to publish as a web service. I have configured the symbology such that it uses a 'Unique Values' style which lists all the combinations of 2 attributes I have identified. When I publish the data as a web service and interrogate the data, I note that the values of the first attribute are altered such that they display the unique values of "Attribute 1, Attribute 2" instead of simply the "Attribute 1" value only. If I export this service to a FGDB and download it, the underlying data is not affected in this manner. It is simply in how the web service displays the attributes. Is this a bug, or something I have done wrong? I've tested publishing in both ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap with the same result.

Sure, The attribute in question contains strings. Sometimes the strings are single words, other times they are separated by a comma. For example, attribute is "Number". Some features in the feature class will have the values in text such as "one" or "two" etc. And some values will be concatenated such that they read "one, two" or "three, four" etc. I want to create a label expression so that any record containing a value of "one" is labelled as "one". If I have a string value of "one, two", then I simply want the label to return "one" as well. Hopefully that makes sense.

Hi everyone, I want to create a label expression which identifies if a string attribute contains a portion of text. If it does, return the value of that text. e.g. In my head the logic must be something like... If $feature.attribute Contains "text" Return "text" I'm sure its an easy answer, but I'm struggling to figure it out. Any help appreciated!

Hi all, I have published a hosted feature service. When I click on the 'Data' tab for this service, the order of attributes in this list appears in the same order as the native data. When I click on the 'Visualization' tab and query a feature, the order of attributes in this list appears in the same order as the native data. When I open the hosted service in Map Viewer and query a feature, the order of attributes in this list appears in the same order as the native data. When I open the hosted service in Scene Viewer and query a feature, the order of attributes in this list does not appear in the same order as the native data. The pop-up list returns my attributes in alphabetical order. How might I configure my pop-ups to appear in my preferred order within a web scene? When I check the Pop-ups in the 'Visualization' tab, the order of the attributes is in my preferred order. When I click 'configure attributes', the order of attributes is as I want them to appear. They just don't appear in this order within the web scene for some reason...

Thanks Michael, I have created relevant layer files to preserve the symbology and the table view of the data. I am satisfied with how this is working in ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro. Unfortunately when I publish the service the complex symbology and table view are not being preserved. I've tried publishing a hosted service using the following methods: In ArcMap, using the File > Share As > Service method, and In my Portal, under 'Content', clicking 'Add Item' and adding a 'zipped geodatabase'. Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to integrate my symbology into a geodatabase just yet. I understand it is possible to create representations, however when I click 'Convert Symbology to Representation' I am presented with an error stating "The workspace for this feature class doesn't support representations." if I attempt to create it directly from the shapefiles. Alternatively if I load all my features into a geodatabase then re-map the data sources of the layer files to point to this new location, then I encounter FDO/FID errors on my labels as shapefiles start at FID 0, whereas feature classes start at FID 1; so something does not compute there.

Thanks Michael, I probably should have stated that I am publishing this as a Hosted Service from my Map Document to a Portal connection via the File > Share As > Service operation. I understand different results can be experienced depending on whether you are publishing a Hosted Service or publishing a service directly from the ArcGIS Server? At least, this is what my support team informs me. I see in my Hosted Service that the symbology is only partly maintained from my layer file in my map document. Additionally, the order of the attributes is not preserved, but instead reverts back to the original order of attributes in the underlying data. So in order to preserve the presentation of the data exactly as my layer file depicts in my map document, I think I may need to get the administrators to publish it directly from the ArcGIS Server. I do see that I can 'configure pop-ups' in my hosted service's web map, however this is not my ideal workflow. I also understand that it is possible to create Web Applications which will return results of queried data exactly as I specify. This may be worth investigating as well.

Hi all, I have a map document containing a customized layer file. I wish to publish this layer/map document as a service through my Portal. I have done a lot of customization to the layer file, including applying aliases and reordering the fields so when the user queries a feature, they are presented with the most important attributes at the top of the list. When I publish this layer/map document as a service and query a feature in a web map, I notice that the order of attributes reverts to the original order of attributes. Is there a way to overcome this issue?

Hi Melita, Thanks for your response. Just to be clear, I understand the .gtf files are binary. We are not attempting to edit the binary files but we were able to open them in notepad for version comparison purposes. We are attempting to reconstruct the .gtf files in 10.7 using the same parameters as those used in our 10.3 custom transformations but are noticing inverted movement. Sent some files to your email.

Hello all, In my organisation we have historically created custom transformations (.gtf) that carry 7 parameter shift values between GDA94 (EPSG:4283) and WGS84 (EPSG:4326). We constructed these in ArcMap 10.3 and have recently upgraded to 10.7. We have noticed a few differences between 10.3 and 10.7, such that: Copying the .gtf files created in 10.3 and inserting them into the Custom Transformation folder in 10.7 results in Error 000365 when attempting to run the 'Project' tool. The way the .gtf file is created appears to be different between ArcGIS versions. Interestingly, the input and output coordinate systems are listed in opposite order when the 2 .gtf files (10.3 v 10.7) are compared. When copying and pasting the parameter values from the 10.3 .gtf file to a new custom transformation in 10.7, you would expect to see the shift occur in the same direction as occurs in 10.3. Instead, it seems the data shift is in fact in the inverse direction, which is obviously of concern. Can anyone explain if the way custom transformations are constructed has changed between 10.3 and 10.7, and why we are experiencing inverted shifts between GDA94 and WGS84?

For anyone wondering, it seems 10.7 creates the .gtf file in a slightly different way to how it did in 10.3. The order of input and output GEOGCS is inverted in 10.7. E.g. in the .gtf file... 10.3: Output GCS is listed first Input GCS is listed second 10.7 Input GCS is listed first Output GCS is listed second

It would be really handy to have a tool which can turn a points feature class into a geodesic line feature class. I understand this is conditional on the XSTART, YSTART, XEND, YEND attributes being present. Sometimes these attributes are not initially provided, but can be calculated through (my) convoluted method described here. Feasibly, a tool could be created to calculate these attributes based on some user input parameters, e.g. the sequencing order of the line, and where to break or close the lines.
