William, Based on your description, it appeared you're using a Named User license to run Pro. As you mention, you can start 3 separate Pro session per license. If you go to the Licensing tab within Pro, there is an option to edit the Workstation Alias. By default, it is "ArcGISPro_with some numbers" This is one of the information displayed when viewing which Pro is using the license. You can edit the Workstation Alias within Pro to change to a more meaningful name.

Gabriel, If you are in the ArcGIS Administrator and want to change from Single Use license to Concurrent Use license, you must change the software option to one of the Concurrent Use licensing. In addition, you must specify the license manager hostname to retrieve the Concurrent Use license. This is the hostname or IP address of the machine where the ArcGIS License Manager was installed. If its on the same machine, provide the hostname of your machine. If you're not sure where that machine is, you may need to contact your administrator. I'm not sure if this is what you mean by "host". If not, can you provide a little more detail, where you're at in the software and what workflow you're following?

Ian, It sounds like you have authorized ArcGIS Pro Single Use and not ArcGIS Desktop. You cannot use Pro licenses to license ArcGIS Desktop and vice versa. Go back to your ArcGIS Administrator and click on the option to deauthorize. Go next until you get to the list features authorized on the system. Pro licenses will have "Pro" in the feature name. Also it will have version 1.2-2.6, assuming you have the latest version of Desktop installed. ArcGIS Desktop licenses will have version 10.1-10.8. If you find this is the case, go back to MyEsri and create a provisioning file for ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) licenses.

Abdelrahman, There's a lot of unknown to determine what the issue is. Maybe the following help get you started: 1. Verify you have indeed upgraded to Portal 10.8 or 10.8.1. An easy option is to check in Programs and Features in the Control Panel. 2. Verify you have the correct version of the license file (.json file). 3. Verify you have the user types mentioned in your description. You can view the details in MyEsri. In doing so, make sure you downloaded and copy the correct json file. If you've verified all the above, the next thing is to verify the content of the json file. For this, I recommend you contact the distributor or Esri Technical Support. An analyst can help review the content of the json file.

Laurie, Pro should stay open as long as there is a license available. With that said, what licensing option were you using? If using Concurrent Use or Named User license, there are connectivity issues to consider. At some point, the connectivity between Pro and the license manager could have been an issue. If possible, try borrowing the license or use a Single Use license. This way the license is local to the system and eliminate any network related issue.

With the Named User licensing option, you can log into to Pro on up to three separate system. Although I'm not sure if it was meant to be used in your scenario, but it is technically possible. As for your other concern about a disconnect from AGOL, this is not different than Pro running on any other system. There are three possible issues where Pro can fail: 1. AGOL goes down. 2. The system where Pro was installed goes down. 3. Network related issues. The chances of any of the above issues occurring is very low and no more higher than Pro installed on any other system or any other licensing option.

Mody, I've tested the transition to different licensing type, including to and from Concurrent Use license, and have not experience your issue. Concurrent Use license will take a few seconds to display but it shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Can you see if this occurs on another machine? If so, I recommend creating a fiddler log for each version and contact technical support. This way the right people can review your logs for possible issues.

Michael, We always want customers to upgrade the license manager when a new version is available because it's always backward compatible. The version of Flexnet Licensing service installed in the ArcGIS License Manager 2020.0 was upgraded from the previous version. Pro 2.6 was also upgraded to the same version. In your case, the user application, Pro 2.6, has a later version of the Flexnet Licensing service than the license manager. In this case, Pro will still works. It may not always be the case.

Dan, You mentioned you have one code with 50 licenses. Does the authorization code start with an EFL or ESU? If it starts with EFL, you have a Concurrent Use license. In this case, you will need to install a license manager where you can authorize and host the licenses. ArcMap will point to the license manager for the licenses. If your code starts with ESU, you have a Single Use license. You can use the code to authorize the license on the individual machine. The only way to retrieve it back is to deauthorize it from the authorized machine. Let me know what license type you have and if you have further question.

Ramzi, From your description, you installed and tried to authorize ArcGIS Desktop Single Use. You mentioned you received a trial license from MyEsri. What is the name of the file? It's possible you received a license file for ArcGIS Pro and not ArcGIS Desktop. You can also test by going to back to the ArcGIS Administrator. Click on the Supported Operations folder and then Deauthorize. On the second dialogue, it will list all your authorized Single Use license. If it has the word "Pro" in the feature names, it's a Pro license which cannot be used for ArcGIS Desktop.
