ArcGIS Pro requires ArcGIS License Manager 2018.0 or later. Just upgrade your license manager. It is backward compatible so it should not affect your existing applications. There's also no need to do anything with your existing licenses. Refer to the document below for additional information: Authorize ArcGIS Pro with a Concurrent Use license—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop

Ibrahim, You mentioned you authorized with provisioning file. Open the file in NotePad or any other text editor. Is Production Mapping listed in the list of features? If not, did you get the trial license as a file or authorization code starting with ESU or EFL?

By "nothing", I assume its hanging when clicking on "Authorize Now"? Try the following: Open your Windows Explorer and go to C:\ProgramData. It is a hidden folder so you may need to set Explorer to view hidden files and folders. Then rename FLEXnet to FLEXnet_old. Then try to authorize through the ArcGIS Administrator again. It should create a new FLEXnet folder. If it still hangs, try to start the Software Authorization Wizard manually. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ArcGIS\bin and double-click on SoftwareAuthorization.exe. If both options failed, we can at least determine the issue concerns the trusted storage. If you can authorize using the Software Authorization Wizard, you can focus your attention on just the ArcGIS Administrator.

Mike, I believe you are referring to the ArcGIS License Manager. If so, moving licenses from one machine to another should not be too difficult. Here's the process: 1. Deauthorize all licenses from the current license manager on your first machine. This will return all licenses back to the licensing pool to be authorize later. 2. Locate your provisioning file if you have one. If not, go to MyEsri to download or create a new provisioning file. It's basically a text file containing your information and selection of licenses to authorize. 3. Install the ArcGIS License Manager on the new system and authorize licenses using the provisioning file in the previous step. ArcGIS License Manager 2018.0 quick start guide—License Manager Guide | ArcGIS Desktop If you're unfamiliar with any of the steps above, our help documentation can walk you through the process. Although there are quite a bit of information to go through. If documentation is too intimidating, I suggest your contact Esri Technical Support. One of the analyst can walk you through the process.

Ingrid, Install the following patch for ArcGIS Desktop 10.1-10.5.1 and then try to authorize your single use license. From the initial detail you provide, the trusted storage which holds the licenses may have been corrupted. This is the patch for ArcGIS Security Update for Flexera CVE-2016-10395. Aaron, When you purchase a core desktop license and extension license, you get an equivalent level licenses for ArcGIS Pro. However, you get a named user license instead of the Concurrent Use license. In your case, supposed you bought an advance core and a 3D Analyst extension license. You also received one Advanced and one 3D Analyst extension license for ArcGIS Pro but a named user license because this is the default licensing option for ArcGIS Pro. You can go to MyEsri to convert them to Concurrent Use if you choose to do so. You mentioned Pro was able to connect to your license manager and start up. It is possible you converted the core advance named user license to a concurrent use license and authorized it on the license manager. If you go to the Availability folder on the ArcGIS License Administrator, you will see ArcGIS Advanced (Desktop license) and ArcGIS Pro Advanced (Pro license). You likely did not convert and/or authorize the 3D Analyst extension license. Again 3D Analyst (Desktop license) 3D Analyst Pro (Pro license). If you prefer to use the concurrent use licensing option for both ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro, you must convert the named user licenses to concurrent use and then authorize it on the license manager. Otherwise you can use the named user licensing option to log into Pro. Refer to the following documentation for additional information concerning the different licensing option for ArcGIS Pro: ArcGIS Desktop licensing—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop

David, ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap share the same Software Authorization Wizard. If you have ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap installed on the same machine, you will notice there's ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap licenses listed when you attempt to deauthorize Single Use licenses. Technically you can use the ArcGIS Administrator from ArcMap or Software Activation Wizard within Pro to authorize/deauthorize Single Use licenses. With that said, ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro have separate set of licenses. In your situation, it sounds like you were attempting to authorize ArcGIS Pro Spatial Analyst extension license using the same authorization number or provisioning file as ArcMap. Go to MyEsri.com > My Organization > Licensing > View Authoriztion to search or verify your authorization number for Spatial Analyst. If you do not have access to these options, you do not have administrative rights to your organization. Have your organization administrator verify it for you.

There is no easy way to retrieve a license from a machine that is no longer accessible. Allowing an administrator to recover the license without communication with the client machine opens the door for clients to take advantage of the situation like Mark eluded to. With that said, we intend to provide the solution you guys mentioned: 1. Prevent users from taking licenses offline. 2. Provide an option to restrict number of days for licenses taken offline. 3. Improve details on which machine took which licenses offline. Due to scale and complexity, this will be completed in phases. The first part was completed. The current version of ArcGIS (AGOL) provided the administrator an option to enable and disable license borrowing. The next phase will allow administrators to set a certain time frame for licenses to be taken offline. After license expiration, AGOL will recover the borrowed licenses automatically. And the last issue which Rebecca mentioned is the option to determine which machine took the licenses offline. This capability is actually available in AGOL. However, it may not be very useful which is why I used the term "improve" in my list. When you log into your organization, go to the Licenses tab. Navigate down to the user in question. The user should have a red indicator next to it to indicate the user took licenses offline. If you click on the date under Last Used column, it will provide the alias of the machine that took the license offline. Again this may not mean much unless you manually changed the Workstation Alias with ArcGIS Pro. There is an enhancement request to use a better or more meaningful indicator such as the hostname of the machine as the alias upon install. We are looking into various options. The ideas is to do so without infringing on client privacy laws. Basically, we are aware of the issues and we intend to address them.

Alice, Glad that fixed your issue. It's part of the instruction on how to configure the license manager to work with a firewall. Remember there's two components to the license manager, the lmgrd daemon and the arcgis daemon. Each process uses separate ports. By default, the license manager used port 27000 for lmgrd.exe and any random open port for arcgis.exe. You can see this in the log file. You must open these two ports through the firewall for client applications to communicate to the license manager. The problem here is that the port for arcgis.exe is random so a restart of the license manager will change ports. You must configure the firewall to allow traffic through the new port. This is unrealistic. This is why you must lock the arcgis daemon to use a specific port. In the example above, lmgrd.exe was set to use port 27000 and arcgis.exe was configured to use 27002. Keep in mind you can use any open port. Ports 27000 - 27009 were reserved for Flexera which is why it's likely to be available and why we recommend use one of these ports. Although not necessary. Hope this helps.

Alice, Can you describe your site configuration? Where is the server with the license manager located? Where is the server you mentioned that can connect to it? Where is your local desktop? All they all in the same network? Also, go to the machine hosting the license manager. Open your Windows Explorer and go to C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\LicenseManager\bin. Open service.txt and verify if the first two line display something similar to the following: SERVER this_host ANY 27000 VENDOR ARCGIS port=27002

Sovan, The ArcGIS License Manager is backward compatible so we always recommend you use the latest version of the license manager even if your desktop application remain the same. On that note, let's take a look at your immediate questions: 1. Can we use the same license manager for ArcGIS Desktop 10.6.1 or do we need to upgrade to License Manager 2018.0? answer: No, you must upgrade to the same or later version as your Desktop application. There are upgrades to the core application that also need the same or later upgrade in the license manager. 2. What are pros and cons for continuing with 10.1 -10.6 license manager and upgrading to 2018.0? answer: ArcGIS License Manager upgrade is an accumulation of features from the previous version so there are numerous advantages. This is why it is backward compatible for any version of ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 - latest version. The disadvantage is that fact someone have to install the later version. 3. What are the difference between both license managers? answer: Not much change for the user. On the surface, there's little change. You may notice a few more extensions or version change for ArcGIS Desktop and Pro. The change is under the hood where we updated the Flexnet Publishing tool.

L R, I'm afraid this is a limitation in MyEsri. In your case, the Portal license was previously authorized. You cannot provision a license if there is no license to provision from. You will need to manually create the provisioning file. Consider the following options: 1. Copy the existing provisioning file for your ArcGIS Server. Open it in Note Pad or any other text editor. The top section contains your personal information. The bottom section contains your licensing information. Remove the existing features for ArcGIS Server. Instead provide the Portal ECP codes. Here's an example: // Features and authorization numbers Portal Level 2=ECP123456789 Save the file with a .prvc extension. 2. Contact Technical Support. An analyst can help you create the file you need.

This is good information. Your AGOL organization was configured for Enterprise login. Perfect! Now open a web browser on your machine and go to www.arcgis.com. You should be able to login using your Enterprise Login account. Once in, are you able to see a Licenses tab? If not, it means you do not have admin access to the org and will require and account with organization admin. If you can, go to the Licenses tab. Do a search for your account. If it has a red marker indicator in front of it, it means the licenses were taken offline on a system. A green marker indicate it was used to log into a system recently. No marker indicate it has not been used recently but is still active for use. If it has a red marker, ArcGIS Pro is behaving as expected. You provided an account which had licenses taken offline on a particular system. If you are absolutely sure you did not take a license offline on another system, you can contact Customer Service to have it reset. Then you can use the account again to log into ArcGIS Pro on any machine.
