This specific image on my end produces an empty output...as in I do not get the 999999 error, yet no point is actually created. Furthermore, I do not see the XY location information in Windows Explorer. What happens with other photos? Are you able to repro this behavior with every photo (or group of photos) you try to use the tool on? The issue may stem from the particular camera you have been using. Matt

Ariadna, The Split tool would be a 1-step process. But it looks like to get your segments all a specific length, not worrying about the total number of segments, it would not be the best option. Split will let you choose one distance, a number of equal parts, or a percentage of the length. I believe it does not allow you to choose a distance for multiple segments because of the fact that the total length of the line divided by the length you choose will not always come out evenly. Therefore, that last segment could not meet the criteria of your specified length parameter and would be invalid. Using Construct Points allows you to do this because it places a point every X distance until it cannot anymore and runs out of space. Following that up with the Split Lines at Points tool will then produce the individual segments between points. Matt

Hi Ariadna, You should be able to enter an Editing session, select a specific line, choose the Editor drop down > Construct Points. Make sure you have an empty point shapefile/feature class in your map. Choose that point layer as the target, then choose the Distance option with your desired distance. This will create a point on the line every X units that you choose. Next you can use the Split Lines at Point tool from the Data Management > Features toolset from ArcToolbox. You may have to play around with it a bit to get it to run 100% smoothly but this should accomplish your workflow. Matt

Hi Jonathan, I have seen this behavior before, the constant looping of the geocoding process, but it was related to special characters contained in the fields that were being geocoded. In this particular instance, there were apostrophes in one of the fields that were causing the behavior. After removing just those apostrophes, the geocoding process did not constantly loop. You may want to double-check all character and formatting aspects of the data for certain situations. Does this behavior and resolution happen will all data you have in numeric format? Matt

Hi Patrick, In BA Desktop, there is Income by Age variables that are accessible for appending to geographies. These variables are online data that are accessible when signed in to Business Analyst Online via BA Desktop. With your BA Desktop license, you should have access to a BAO subscription in which you can sign in to via BA Desktop by going to Business Analyst > Preferences > Online tab. You can then go to Business Analyst > Favorites > Append Data (Spatial Overlay) > Choose 'Use Online Data' and choose your desired geographic boundary layer for 'Overlay Layer' > Next > Search in the 'Filter' box for "income by age" > Expand the 2010 Income by Age (Esri) option > Add over any of the desired variables you would like to append into your geographic boundary layer > Next > Choose a name > Finish. In Business Analyst Online, you can run a standard report called 'Household Income Profile (2012 Data)' which includes these age and income variables. Matt

Hi Ryan, Here is some direct documentation for the GeoTagged Photos to Points tool: ArcGIS Resources: GeoTagged Photos to Points http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//001700000165000000 One thing to check would be your license level of ArcGIS for Desktop. The functionality of the tool is limited if you have a Basic (ArcView) license. The location of the folder of photos should not matter, unless there are any permission type issues going on. Also, sub-folders are OK because the tool is recursive. A 999999 error is a generic error so this may be tough to narrow down. Will any of the images send through the forum so that others can test the same files? Matt

Scott, Are you editing an AXF that you have checked out? You can check a feature class out to AXF using the ArcPad Data Manger toolbar and then open that AXF within ArcPad Studio and edit the forms, etc. If not, for what type of data are you trying to customize in ArcPad Studio? Matt

Charles, If you are using these geocoding services to batch geocode and do not have a subscription purchased, please see Sarah Osborne's post from a different forum yesterday: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/79425-ArcGIS-10.1 If you do have the subscription then the issue may be related to inconsistencies in the network or with the data. The Python script probably does not contain the issue, but we won't count it out just in case. I would first focus on if you are set up with the subscription for batch geocoding. Matt

Tom, You can add in a World Terrain basemap from ArcGIS Online in ArcMap. Choose Add Data > Add Data from ArcGIS Online > Browse by "terrain" > Choose the World Terrain Base by clicking "Add" This basemap loads in via an internet connection to ArcGIS Online and shows terrain with no labels whatsoever. You can then zoom in to Europe and even clip the basemap down to that extent if desired. Matt

Hi Patrick, I have seen this error a few times. It may be a corrupt data download. If this is the case, you would want to request the backup media from the customer care site. Before doing so, I suggest to contact your customer service representative by calling 888.377.4575 Option 5 to discuss the issue. Before this, however, you may try completely uninstalling all BA components thus far and reinstalling from scratch, just in case corruption has occurred during the install itself. Matt

Hi Joey, Without being able to see what you are seeing in Studio, I believe that you should be able to double-click on the <EDITFORM> and basically drag and drop the controls within there. You can click Page > Add Page to add a page or the same to delete a page. Will it not allow you to do this, or is it something else that you are trying to do? Matt Payne

A lot of times creating a new MXD will solve this issue. If you open a new MXD next to your current one and just drag all of the layers over to the table of contents of the new one, this will preserve your symbology as well. Save it and run the Get Data for ArcPad wizard again. Matt Payne

Colleen, I tested on a v10 SP5 machine and successfully Calculated Geometry for the X and Y coordinates of the centroid with a polygon feature class. There seems to be something going on with either a) your data or b) your current mapping system. You may try to: 1) Use the Feature Class to Feature Class tool to make a copy from your polygon layer (to relieve potential corruption within the file) 2) Upgrade to SP5 (you can check which SP you have in ArcMap by going to Help > About ArcMap) Other things to consider are: 1) What field type are your x and y fields? 2) Where is your data located? (move it local if it is on a network or shared drive and then test it) 3) Are you working in a specific saved MXD file? (open a blank, fresh instance of ArcMap, drag in your one polygon layer, and test the performance, to relieve MXD corruption) Hope this helps! Matt Payne
