Oh, wait... I see that a lot of customers have wanted this for a long time. I guess I should just forget it and move on.

I concur with the OP and probably with a lot of the posts I didn't read. I frequently need for the time that is displayed in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise to be the same as the time value in the source data... for business purposes. Enabling time on the layer and in the service adds other complexities that don't get me toward a solution consistently. Thumbing up this one.

Looks like Koop (https://koopjs.github.io/) may help out in the meantime for data that's not very live. f=topojson would still be nice to get directly from an Esri GeoService.

Maybe some magic like this: https://services2.arcgis.com/WW3T8U6q5EkZ9U3n/arcgis/rest/services/GDL_DSHS_Nursing_Home/FeatureServer/0/query?outFields=*&where=1%3D1&f=topojson https://geo.wa.gov/datasets/WADSHS::dshs-nursing-homes Specifically, I want to deliver confidential data with special handling requirements (e.g. HIPAA) from my ArcGIS Enterprise deployment directly to Power BI users within our internal, secured environment. The Power BI "Preview feature" "Shape map visual" supports TopoJSON (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/desktop-shape-map). The Power BI team's suggested data conversion solution is a no-go for our confidential data and causes a lot of work and re-work by staff. I'm aware that the ArcGIS Maps for Microsoft Power BI product takes my map visualizations to the next level, but it looks like I need to go higher than that. https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/arcgis-maps-for-power-bi/overview https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/power-bi-visualization-arcgis Tim

Based on the information linked below, I have been operating under the assumption that SQL Server 2012 is not supported for use with ArcGIS Pro. For the Esri folks in this thread, is the documentation incorrect or incomplete? https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/data/databases/database-requirements-sqlserver.htm

ArcGIS Pro contextual help notes that "Tools that honor Output CONFIG Keyword environment will use the specified keyword when creating datasets in a geodatabase." My idea is that "Tools that honor Output CONFIG Keyword environment can provide the user with a drop-down list of keywords that are available in the target geodatabase." Example: Geoprocessing > Copy > Environments > Output CONFIG keyword > blank field with no dropdown list. Available keywords in my example target geodatabase are: DATA_DICTIONARY DEFAULTS GEOGRAPHY GEOMETRY IMS_GAZETTEER LOGFILE_DEFAULTS NETWORK_DEFAULTS NETWORK_DEFAULTS::DESC NETWORK_DEFAULTS::NETWORK NETWORK_GEOGRAPHY NETWORK_GEOGRAPHY::DESC NETWORK_GEOGRAPHY::NETWORK NETWORK_GEOMETRY NETWORK_GEOMETRY::DESC NETWORK_GEOMETRY::NETWORK NETWORK_SDEBINARY NETWORK_SDEBINARY::DESC NETWORK_SDEBINARY::NETWORK SDEBINARY TERRAIN_DEFAULTS TERRAIN_DEFAULTS::EMBEDDED TERRAIN_GEOGRAPHY TERRAIN_GEOGRAPHY::EMBEDDED TERRAIN_GEOMETRY TERRAIN_GEOMETRY::EMBEDDED TERRAIN_SDEBINARY TERRAIN_SDEBINARY::EMBEDDED TOPOLOGY_DEFAULTS TOPOLOGY_DEFAULTS::DIRTYAREAS TOPOLOGY_GEOGRAPHY TOPOLOGY_GEOGRAPHY::DIRTYAREAS TOPOLOGY_GEOMETRY TOPOLOGY_GEOMETRY::DIRTYAREAS TOPOLOGY_SDEBINARY TOPOLOGY_SDEBINARY::DIRTYAREAS

Hmm. I note that there is a "Refactor Fields" tool in an available GIS toolset that might be employed in a Rube Goldberg-inspired workflow to change field orders in geospatial data tables. Might be worth a look.

Thanks for your input and support, Scott Harris. Since I didn't find any clear, concise expression examples for concatenating the values of two columns in the help documentation, I simply didn't do it. I ended up back in ArcMap, where it was quick and easy. The clock was ticking... tim

Since I need to do work rather than learn a new, proprietary, flavor-of-the-release language, I'd like for "Python" to be available in this drop-down list. Is there a setting somewhere backstage or elsewhere that gets me a commonly used, familiar language rather than Esri's new internal-ArcGIS-platform-only language? Specifically, I'm in Layer Properties > Display > Display field > set an expression. Thanks for any pointers. tim

Hi Joe - possibly. As Dan pointed out earlier, I'm operating in a restricted environment. Windows AppLocker has been helpfully configured to smack down anything that tries to run from my user account path, which is one of the things going on here. Event Viewer delivers the receipts on that statement. I may have to look into installing ArcGIS Pro in a locally supported system path.

Howdy Dan - I appreciate you sharing your alternate approaches and workarounds. At some point, I'm probably going to need to use them. I'm attempting to stay onboard the Esri train, but I keep falling out windows, through the floors, etc.. I learned a long time ago to keep my arms and legs inside the ride at all times, if possible, so the support team doesn't have a clean "unsupported workflow or configuration" case closure response. My actions: submitted a support request, primarily as a "me too" indicator searched "Edit with IDLE (ArcGIS Pro)" in my registry, found the key, copied the value (the entire string), went to ArcGIS Pro > Project > Options > Geoprocessing > Script Editor - pasted that thar string in that thar field > OK. Now in ArcGIS Pro, I can right-click a script tool > Edit > and up it pops in an IDE instead of Notepad. put any sort of Spyder goodness on hold until... sometime later. Now I just have to figure out what it was I was doing for work and get restarted on that. Because that's what I'm getting paid to do instead of cobbling together tools. tim
