Is there any way to make a widgetgroup show up horizontally instead of vertically (right below the original widget clicked on)? Also, it would be nice to allow the text to be removed and add it as a tooltip instead.

I'm running ArcGIS Viewer 4.4 application from Flash Builder 4.5. Every time I run, I get the message: Either scripts and active content are not permitted to run or Adobe Flash Player version 10.2.0 or greater is not installed. I also get To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls... I'm running from FlashPlayer so the URL is something like C:\FlexWorkspace\etc. In addition, I have downloaded the latest Flash Player so thats not the problem. Also, I cant add C:\FlexWorkspace\etc to my trusted site in IE. It wants a real URL. So how do I fix this problem?

This occurs because "The maximum time a client can use a service" set in the Geoprocessing Service Properties wasn't set high enough. The problem is fixed.

Does anyone know what the Context usage Timeout Interval is in ArcGIS Server Geoprocessing Server? I'm getting the following errors when I run my model in ArcGIS Server (it runs for like an hour and then blows up): The context has been automatically released because the Context Usage Timeout Interval has elapsed. Then, right afterwards, I get Execution of job <xyz> failed because of crash or termination of the server object.

Why dont you use Copy Features to copy the Feature Set to a Feature Class in your scratch workspace. Then, Make the Feature Layer off of that.

I got this working. By setting up the output to be a Feature Class instead of a Feature Set or Feature Layer, it works in both Server and Desktop environments. The results then appear when I run my Service in a Desktop environment (havent completely tested yet in Web Environment)...

I've built a model that calls a python script. I need to run it in ArcGIS Server. I need the results to be output as a Layer that I can then view. (I create a brand new Feature Class behind the scenes and add some features to it). If I setup the derived output to be a Feature Layer, I receive an error message, "Invalid return value: %scratchworkspace%\Scratch.gdb\MyFC" If I setup the derived output to be a Feature Set, ArcGIS Server doesn't throw an error, but I never see my output. Ideas? I also need to output a Table (I create) that the user can view. I've never gotten to work, both in Desktop and Server (The table is created but it never gets added to my model results). Thanks. Karen

So the answer is: fidSet = gp.describe(freewayLayer).fidset which is sooooo much faster then any other method. (less then a second compared to several minutes using other methods).. Nice!

I just found this: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/16409-Check-if-FeaturLayer-has-Selection-FAIL?p=51277&viewfull=1#post51277 But its soooooo slow. It takes several minutes to execute the following: intNum = int(gp.GetCount_management(freewayLayer).getoutput(0))

I've run a geoprocessing SelectLayerBylocation on 2 layers. One has a few features. The other has millions (the layer to be selected). This runs quickly. But then I'm trying to figure out how many resultant records there are. That seems to hang. I've tried rtnNum = gp.GetCount_management(freewayLayer) which is maybe still buggy in 9.3?? (but does it work in 10?) I've tried a basic search cursor. In 99.99% of my cases, The selection layer will have 0 results. So I think its trying to deal with ALL of the records if the selection layer has 0 features selected. I've tried gp.tableselect(freewayLayer, tempFile) but this is also rediculously slow. I was thinking this would ONLY work on the selected features but now I'm not so sure. Ideas? I ONLY need to know how many intersected features there are?

I'm looking for a method within the Geoprocessor tools or python to Register a Feature Class with the Geodatabase (like you would do in ArcCatalog by right-clicking on it and select Register with Geodatabase). Ideas? If it's not available, how would I write such a script? Karen

I was asked to change the number of results returned in the Find Data tool in the Flex Viewer sample. But its not clear how to do this. Should be a Config setting but its not. So if not a config setting, where, in code to do this? Karen
