It's a custom in panel that displays the area and perimeter of the selected feature via a feature action. I want it to close whenever any other feature is selected in the map - and it also needs to work on layers added to the map from local sources - can I use lang.hitch(this or something to make it apply to any layer in the map? Thanks Robert - cob

I am working with WAB 2.6 and want to close a widget panel when the selection in the map is changed. I can see the map.on("selection-change") code in some other question samples but don't see anything about it in the API 3.23 reference under map events. Can someone tell me the syntax for this function, where it goes and what needs to be defined in order to use the event handler? Thanks, cob

Why are the distance/area units necessarily tied together that way? What we need is feet/acres and I'm sure that isn't an uncommon request. Also, when will this functionality be incorporated into the developer version? Thanks, cob

Thanks for your patience Robert, but I'm going to have to let this one go. Like finding the ark of the covenant to change a tooltip text. However, I do intend to embark on a WAB developer learning adventure, probably from the ground up. What's your suggestion for the best starting point and sequence - Dojo, Javascript, ESRI JS API, CSS, HTML 5, or some other topics? Many thanks for your help - cob

I saw that one, but what about the select tool? Is it in the draw toolbar or standalone? Thanks Robert -cob

Robert I've looked everywhere for that tooltip for the select tool to no avail. Where is it hidden? Thanks, cob

Well it works, and we've actually been using it - for polygons. I can't get it to measure lines unless the line happens to be inside a polygon. It makes the selection on the line features but shows 'N/A" in the length field in the panel. So another setback - unbelievable how difficult it is to measure existing features in the web apps. Who wants to do that, right? Thanks, cob

Are you saying that if I set the AOI extent to only include part of a feature, only that part will be measured? It doesn't seem to be working that way - if any part of the feature is in the AOI then the whole feature is selected and measured. We don't have the areas and lengths in the table - that's what we're trying to calculate. The Screening would just allow the user to manually add the calculations to the feature tables. It would be ideal if the calcs were added to the table and automatically updated with each edit, but we've literally spent years trying to figure that one out. I did look at the feature actions demo but really lost at the 'Use the feature action' part - where does the featureactionmanager code go and how does it get into the UI? Thanks, cob

Hello, I'm at my wits end trying to make some 'simple' revisions to the new screening widget in WAB 2.6. All I want to do is remove some of the panels in the widget so that it just allows selecting a layer and outputs the area and length for each selected feature. I don't want the user to be able to buffer, pick selection layers, print, or download and I want to remove the composite AOI area which only includes some of the layers and is confusing and unnecessary. See attached screenshots for further explanation. My ignorance here is quite embarrassing - don't want to say how long I've spent on this... thanks, cob

OK, I got it, so there is no search function in this version. Guess I have to get out my ArcObjects poster...

Sorry to divert but I have a very similar error except there are multiple fields listed in the error message i.e. Shape_1, Shape_3, Shape_5 and so on up to 9. None of these fields exist in the feature service. What do you think James? Thanks, cob

Afraid I don't see what you're talking about Dan. I am using C# in Visual Studio, not Python. The walkthrough I found here references the snippet finder access from the VS code page. But I don't have that in VS 2015. Why not? Thanks Dan - cob

I've been looking at various documentation on creating add-ins for Arcmap in visual studio, and all I can find is old, old, old. When I right click the code window I can only see "insert snippet" in the context list, and really half the options in my list are different from the screen shots in the documents. Am I missing some kind of plug-in item in VS? It is 2015 Community version. Also where can I find recent documentation on add-ins for new versions of ArcMap? Thanks, cob

Brent, your second suggestion worked like a charm - what we needed was one specific choice either by itself or in combination with one other specific choice - this did the trick. Thanks, cob
