Has anyone worked with trying to label features in web app builder, similar to the 'create labels' functionality in the AGOL web map viewer? Ideally would be a widget to manage labels for each layer in the layer list. Does anyone know of a js api code sample that does this, that maybe I could try to make into a WAB custom widget? Thanks, cob

No because I can't really predict how many items/how much space the legend is going to require in the user's map - we have dozens of potential map products etc. and even at the pre-roll out teaser meeting they were complaining about the lack of flexibility compared to the desktop based systems they have now. So I like the way print plus seems to auto-size the elements but I need that logo and just a little bit more flexibility. If we hadn't spent so much on ESRI I would just get a vendor to do a one-off. Or pay one of the three people who speak English and know something about WAB (none of them with ESRI) to fix this thing or teach me the programming I need to get it to work. Larry can you help me with a print plus problem? When I change the URL to our arc server print service the scale goes crazy - maxes out at 1:100 so it won't print anything if it has a base map. Also will not display the layout frame and other problems. The only thing I changed is the service URL. What else do I need to change to get it working right again, or is this possible? Thanks, cob

Thanks for your response, Rebecca. But that is a bit over my head unfortunately. Unless you had time to walk me through it step by step...:-) But curiously, the print widget is working with new apps that I create with WAB, just not anything I had created previously (before changing the print service URL to our arc server). So easier to just recreate the app.. but I still can't get a decent print. First and foremost the legend symbology for polygons is blanked out in the legend. And when I use the arc server URL with print plus it totally fouls up the scale and tops out at 1:100. I know that's Larry's but... all I need is the print plus layout working like it's supposed to, with our logo and the ability to change scale units on the bar (and the polys symbolized of course..). Is that too much to ask from the web?

It says Cross-Origin Request Blocked, blah blah blah... CORS header 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' missing. But I enabled it when I set up arc server. It works with the stock map in map viewer, just not with my WAB app or any of the web maps I have in my content. On Wed, Aug 26, 2015 at 4:17 PM, Robert Scheitlin, GISP <geonet@esri.com>

Using the stock print widget in WAB, the prints fail with a red "Error, try again" message in the widget print queue. I am using an arcgis server print service that works in the web map viewer in AGOL. In WAB the template dropdown list is showing the templates from the custom print service so it is connected in some way. But it just won't print. Ideas?

I've set up a quick report app with attachments. Testing with the android player, taking pic attachment during the collection process. When viewing the web map containing the QR feature service, the browser tries to download the image to the local machine before it can be displayed. If I simply add an attachment through the web map, it behaves normally and displays the image in a new tab without prompting for download. How can I fix this so image attachments from the device camera are displayed in a browser tab initially (without download prompt) as well? Browsers are chrome and firefox... Thanks, cob

I'm talking about the stock Query widget in the WAB. When you elect to display the result it shows up in the browser console - looks like json and I can modify it directly in the console with changes reflected immediately... I know there is a way to persist the feature in local storage in HTML5 but what can one do with it after that? Is there any way to reference it in the API to pull it into AGOL? Been struggling with this a long time - the stock map viewer in AGOL will do things I can't figure out how to replicate in a hosted app. Thanks, cob

Ok, got it going (Add Service Widget) but it only adds tiled service layers and not the feature services we need. I did try loading a tiled image service of high-res imagery cached down to 1:200 but it comes in underneath the esri basemap and cannot be 'moved up' in the layer list. Not sure how to use this one either... how about this - when you add a query result to the map it creates a feature collection, right? Where is this stored and is there any way to reference the url to persist it or maybe publish it as a hosted FS? Thanks and sorry for my cranial density...cob

Robert, I have the LocalLayers widget installed but not sure how to use it. How is the widget accessed when the app is running? It doesn't show up in the "click here" list to add to the app upon launch - is that right? Thanks, cob

Well, the kicker is that the AGOL default web map viewer performs these functions very well (except for the append to feature service) but does not have the editing tools or the custom print task that we need. So we have individual pieces each in a separate environment with (seemingly) no way to integrate them into one all-purpose app. Appreciate your help and insight Robert, hope you have a chance to work on this sometime in the future. Thanks, cob

Yes, I saw that - great work. But we do not have arc server, all of our data is on AGOL and local machines. Can it be easily modified to work with this? What we need is for the user to be able to select the layer from their local storage or their AGOL content and add that to the map. Could it work that way? Thanks Robert - cob

Got it...I had changed the name in the manifest to something different than the folder name. It's working now. What I'm ultimately trying to do is add a widget that will bring a layer into the map from local source or user's content in AGOL (ideally append it to the selected feature service in the map but first things first...). Do you know of anything like that out there? I found an app to add shapefile in the AGOL templates Add Shapefile that I think will work, but obviously I'm not well versed on how to make this happen. Does all of the code go in the .js file? What else do I need to make it work? Thanks for your help Robert! (I will give you a correct answer since you turned me on to the console error which led to the solution of the original problem 🙂 cob
