Marika can you give an example of a .info file with a url for online (esri basemap) and offline tpk that works? I finally got it to work with side-loading but need a shared tpk service. Copying that code snippet to the bottom of the file doesn't cut it, right?

All I mean is that you adjust the frame size based on the map scale and the distance between where the margin is in the app map view and the printout result. Don't worry about the actual size of the map frame (the page size stays the same), just adjust the numbers to make the frame match the print result. You may know this already but when the frame is changed it only affects the right margin and you set the left with the x offset, same with the the top (frame) and the y offset (bottom). So for example the config params for my letter portrait size are: [{ "x": 8.5, "y": 11 }, { "x": 6.3, "y": 6.6 }, { "x": 1.2, "y": 3.05 }, { "x": 0.5, "y": 0.5 }] which I arrived at through the method above - say if the scale is 12,000 and the right margin is 2000 feet outside where it actually prints, reduce the x frame size by one inch. Seems to work and hold with different screen sizes/shapes. This is coming from our custom print template but it does have standard margins based on the ESRI template. Thanks, cob

Maybe if you just published it as an item in AGOL - to test you could publish a single band from the image and change the style in the web map viewer TOC, then see if it shows up in the legend. I haven't worked much with rasters in PP (other than basemaps) but they generally don't show up if you use a raster layer from AGOL or a tpk from your desktop. Sorry I can't be more help - cob

I had to adjust the print frame dimensions manually in the config file, measuring the map scale against the frame size (a bit of trial and error). The frame looks weird in the map view, but it does seem to hold the extent content from the frame in the print output. You're not the tennis player, are you? 🙂

The setting in the webmap (hide in legend) doesn't seem to have any effect on the print plus output. If you can manipulate the display style of the raster in some way in the web map, that seems to eliminate it from the PP legend. In my experience this persists even when the layer is changed back to the original style. Good luck! cob

Wait, I have it - deleting the config_Edit file resets it back to the default in the widget. Only had to enable merge/cut etc. in that file and refresh the app... it works! You're a genius, thanks Robert!

Thanks Robert - do you mean that if I configure the widget to enable editing on none of the map layers, then it will loop through? I did this through the WAB widget configuration GUI, which did blank out all of the LayerInfos in the config_Edit.json file. But when opened, the widget wouldn't allow editing on any of the layers. Is there another way to do this, or were you talking about something else? Thanks - cob On Thu, May 12, 2016 at 11:50 AM, Robert Scheitlin, GISP <geonet@esri.com>

Does anyone know a way to automatically enable editing through the WAB editor widget on a layer added to a web map, upon which an app template is based? We are using WAB 1.3 developer version and would like users to be able to create their own feature services through AGOL, add to the web map, and then edit these layers in the app. How can we do this without having to go back into builder mode, configure the widget, download, re-deploy etc etc. Thanks! cob

We have a couple of custom WAB apps for general mapping/editing feature services and the next step is to provide an offline editing/sync environment for users with connectivity limitations. They will not have a desktop (arcmap) solution. I have been looking at the .net runtime SDK documentation and also the 'license your app' guidance from ESRI and it seems like these two might work together somehow since the WAB apps can be registered to have an AppID generated through AGOL. Is there a way to use an existing WAB app with the SDK to enable offline editing/sync of the feature services via windows desktop? Or must one start from scratch with the SDK/visual studio?

My app behaves exactly the same on Google Drive as GitHub, so I would say if it works on one it would work on the other. But mine won't work on either, alas...cob On Fri, Apr 15, 2016 at 9:57 PM, Robert Scheitlin, GISP <geonet@esri.com>

Thanks Robert - can you do this with a site that includes web editing of feature services? I think that may be the sticking point (?) I don't really understand GitHub very well but used the terminal commands to load the app into the repo the first time, and the desktop sync this time and still the same result. Here is a view of the console errors - this is after the AGOL login is accepted and the map starts loading. Can you make anything of it? Thanks for your help - cob

We have built an app in WAB 1.3 which is for the moment on our network server. We need to temporarily get it accessible to the internet for a training session, but don't have a public IP available through our agency. I have been trying various means to host the app using commercial free services - have tried github, Google Drive, and 000webhost but none of these work. GH and GD hang up on initialize after the login and map display, and 000 throws errors for all the widgets. Has anyone successfully hosted a WAB app with one of these services, and if so how? Thanks, cob

Thanks for your reply Robert - I have discovered that it has something specifically to do with Larry's Print Plus widget. We were adding a user-created layer through the analysis tools in order to calculate the area of a multi-part polygon (which is the only way we could figure out to do it on a feature service) and didn't want this layer to be included in the print layout legend. For some reason, if this layer is modified i.e. reclassified in the web map viewer, it does not show up in the print plus legend, regardless of whether it is hidden in the legend through the map viewer settings. If it is not modified, it does display in the legend again regardless of the legend settings in the map viewer. This is FYI for those using print plus who have encountered this issue - it's an easy workaround once one realizes what's going on. The print plus widget is great, love the print frame settings but it seems to have different behavior handling legends than other print services. When print plus is deployed in an app based on a web map with a particular layer hidden from legend, it still appears in the print output. Indeed, legend does not show layer in the web map or the legend widget in the app, only in the print export. This does not happen with the stock ExportWebMapTask service from desktop to server, or in the default print service from ESRI. Could the code be modified to match the other print services legend properties? Thanks, cob

Can I reprise this thread? I am having similar issues with a layer showing up in the legend of the print export from a WAB custom app, even though in the web map it's based on this layer is hidden in the legend. It does not show up in the legend of the web map, or in the legend widget in the app, but prints in the layout just the same. As said above it seems like the print service is not honoring the setting in the web map. Thoughts?
