The character limit for a domain name seems to be 255 characters, based on testing. In a file geodatabase, when the 256th character is entered, the software simply removes it and only uses the first 255 characters. Rather than silently truncating, I’m wondering if Pro could tell us that the domain name is too long when entering it. Character limit for domain names? ArcGIS Pro 3.4.2; imagery service layer Background: Image source: https://ws.geoservices.lrc.gov.on.ca/arcgis5/rest/services/Elevation/Ontario_DTM_LidarDerived/ImageServer I've clicked the ArcMap link to download a layer file: Elevation_Ontario_DTM_LidarDerived.lyr. I can open the .LYR file in ArcGIS Pro and change the symbology to Shaded Relief. Now, I want to export the symbolized raster as a JPEG. Right-click the layer in the Contents pane > Data > Export raster. Change the Output Format to JPG. Change the Clipping Geometry to Current Display Extent. Change the Renderer Settings to Force RGB and User Renderer. Problem: Failed to export Elevation\Ontario_DTM_LidarDerived: The Output raster could not be created in the specified format with specified pixel type or number of bands or colormap. I don't have that problem with TIFFs, only with JPGs. As a workaround, I need to export it as a TIFF, open it in a photo editing software like GIMP, and export it as a JPG. Idea: If GIMP can save it as a JPG, then can ArcGIS Pro do it too?

Right-click the layer in the Contents pane > Data > Export raster. Export as a TIFF. Using the resulting file: Now that we're dealing with a smaller subject area, change the symbology to Shaded Relief. The raster symbology shows up better with a smaller subject area because the gradient has a smaller range of pixels, so there's more contrast. Export the raster to a TIFF again, but this time enable "Use Renderer" and "Force RGB". (We can't export as a JPEG because we'll get an error.) Open the new TIFF using GIMP image editor: https://www.gimp.org/. Hint: If you don't have Windows admin rights on your computer, choose to install "Only on my computer". In GIMP, crop the image to a fixed aspect ratio: 2:3 (landscape). Hit Enter to commit. Image > Flatten Image. Image > Scale Image. Scale it to less than 8000 pixels x 8000 pixels. File > Export As. Change "Select File Type (By Extension)" to "JPEG image". Export. In the Export Image as JPEG window, we have the option to change the quality. Play around with different quality settings until the output file is less than 16mb. There isn't a way to preview the output size, so we have to do it the hard way: export at a given percentage, check the file size, if it's more than 16mb, then try a lower quality setting. Repeat. Now, upload the image (less than 8000px x 8000px; <16mb; 2:3 ratio) to the online printing service. Note: The GIMP workflow works for Archives of Ontario historic black & white photos, too: https://www.archives.gov.on.ca/en/aerialphotos/index.aspx. As well as for infrared and ortho imagery ordered from the Ministry of Natural Resources. An alternative print service is PosterJack.

ArcGIS Pro 3.4.2 Background: The Ontario government has lidar raster data available as an image service layer: https://ws.geoservices.lrc.gov.on.ca/arcgis5/rest/services/Elevation/Ontario_DTM_LidarDerived/ImageServer I've clicked the ArcMap link to download a layer file: Elevation_Ontario_DTM_LidarDerived.lyr. I can open the .LYR file in ArcGIS Pro. The default symbology is "Stretch". Question: I want to export the subject area and print it at a large format print shop such as Walmart Photo Centre (Canada). The file requirements are: "...Images in .jpg, .JPG .jpeg, .JPEG, format. Maximum image width is 8000px, maximum image height is 8000px, maximum file size is 16mb." How can I export the lidar raster image service as a JPG that is a 2:3 aspect ratio, max 8000x8000 pixels, and less than 16mb, while getting as close as possible to those limits to maximize photo quality?

ArcGIS Pro 3.4.2; Image service layer In Export Raster, I've entered an output path and chosen TIFF as the filetype. Now, I want to make a change to the output path. I haven't entered a file extension in the new path. When I click away from the output path parameter, the file type automatically changes from TIFF to GRID. That's not expected. Could that behavior be changed? Video:

Esri Case #03829144 - Domain name length limits The character limit for a domain name does seem to be (based on testing) 255 characters. In a file geodatabase, when the 256th character is entered, the software simply removes it and only uses the first 255 characters. However, when testing in Oracle and SQL Server, adding the 256th character causes a crash. I've tested with 3 Oracle databases (at 3 different versions all over Pro 2.x) and one SQL Server database. I 've also tested with Pro 3.3x and 3.4x with the same results. I will be logging a bug for this... Idea: Indicate that domain name is too long

When copying coordinates from the map for the purpose of pasting into a website, I want the coordinates to be formatted as: 43.6887974, -79.4560087. I get the impression that there are other more custom formatting requirements too. https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/further-user-configuration-options-for-copy/idc-p/1582999/highlight/true#M33710 I’m wondering if the most practical option for satisfying all formatting requirements would be to let us format the coordinates using an expression, such as with Arcade, similar to the formatting we do with dates in SQL.

ArcGIS Pro 2.9.5 When choosing the best color scheme for raster imagery that is symbolized using Shaded Relief: It would be great to have back and forward buttons to easily cycle through each color scheme, instead of going back to the picklist and navigating to the next one in the list. Edit: Maybe the arrow buttons should be beside the picklist, instead of inside the picklist, to avoid needing to click the picklist each time.

Locate > Layer Search shows the word "Description" beside the display field's value. Instead of showing "Description", I think it would be more useful to show the display field name, such as "ASSET_ID".

Edited; clarified the issue. Requesting ArcMap equivalency in the Locate pane > Layer Search in ArcGIS Pro. Use case: Searching for a specific value in a specific field across multiple feature classes. Idea: Sort by the Value/Layer/Field results ArcMap equivalency screenshot: I haven't included an ArcGIS Pro screenshot, because to be honest, I can't get the Locate pane to work at all in my old version of Pro - 2.9.5. From memory, I believe the above idea applies to the latest version of Pro - 3.4.2.

Have you tried disabling indexing? In the past, I've suspected that helped, although it wasn't conclusive. Why does the ArcGISIndexingServer.exe use a high amount of computer memory?
