SharePoint/Power Platform support group for GIS people

As mentioned in AGOL or Portal Lists app, some of us are forced to use SharePoint/Power Platform, when we'd rather be using ArcGIS products.

What are some tips you can share for GIS users who are trying to apply Esri concepts in the Microsoft cloud world?

For example, here's how to do the equivalent of a GIS "field calculation" on an MS List/SharePoint List, to update a person column (person is a field datatype) using a text column: Batch-update person column using text column.

How would you describe Power Automate to GIS people who are unfamiliar? Something like this, but better?

Similar to ArcGIS Pro's Model Builder (visual steps, low code), but is in the Microsoft cloud (interacts with SharePoint and Power Platform). 

It can be run: 

• On demand
• On a schedule
• From a trigger, like a record being updated

It can be used to do things like update MS Lists, send emails, create records, interact with SharePoint Library files, and lots more.

Well, my current Teams status is 

so I generally open with "It's clunky and difficult to work with" lol.

I think your description makes sense. I personally have been using it to manage a status tracker for some of our projects using sharepoint lists, but I've been looking at it to see how I can better integrate it with our GIS stuff in Portal and AGOL, since I think there's a lot of room for that to work. I know several colleagues who are pairing it with webhooks to email reports from surveys.

You can also use it to populate MS Word templates and send weekly progress reports and stuff.
