Are there any file types that can be edited by both ArcGIS Pro and MS Access? For example, use ArcGIS Pro and MS Access as front-ends for editing a common file. ArcGIS Pro is good at editing and viewing things spatially. Access is good at forms and subdatasheets. (A related ArcGIS Pro idea here.) Concurrent edits/locks are not a concern in this case. It would be similar to what we can do with enterprise databases like Oracle. I can edit an Oracle table in both MS Access (via ODBC) and ArcGIS Pro (via a database connection). But instead of using an enterprise database, I'm wondering if there are any local file types that would work for the same sort of thing. Either a local relational database file (similar to an .MDB or .ACCDB) or a flat file. Thanks.

I'm aware that I could use a copy of the table as a workaround: Copy the table to a ArcGIS editing-friendly format. Display and edit the copy in ArcGIS Pro. When done editing: In Access, join the copy to the master table. Update the Access master table using the copy. But that's messy and not ideal. It would be better if I could edit the master Access table right in ArcGIS Pro. Related: Stack Overflow - Edit local MS Access table via HTTP-like request?

Is there a way to make non-spatial edits to a Microsoft Access table in ArcGIS Pro? (.mdb or .accdb) For example, an Access table has XY columns. I'm displaying the table as an XY event layer in ArcGIS Pro. As I review the XY points in the map, I want to edit a flag column with Y/N values. Is there a way to do that? I'm not the owner of the Access database so I don't have the option of migrating it to a different format.

Merged from a separate idea. It would be handy if we could drag tables from the Contents pane to the map or Attribute Table to open the table. I’m aware that there are other ways to do that, such as CTRL+Double-click on the table in the Contents pane. But as a new ArcGIS Pro user, I find myself wanting to drag the table from the TOC to the map or Attribute Table to open it. But currently, I don’t think it works that way.

In a related post, I asked: How long does it take Esri to support a new Oracle version? (regarding Oracle's eventual release of 23c) And @MarceloMarques said: The new released version of the Oracle Database is usually certified / supported on the next ArcGIS Release. That leads me to ask: When is the next ArcGIS Enterprise version planned for release? I'm aware that Enterprise 11.0 was just released in July 2022. So if I had to guess, I'd say the next release wouldn't be planned any time soon. But it would still help if someone could advise how often Enterprise versions typically get released. Is there a ballpark estimate for the next release, such as two years minimum, or something like that? Thanks.

Oh, Ok. Thanks. I missed the right-click functionality. I thought I'd come across a scenario where that didn't work.

OK. I guess I'm just more familiar with Oracle EGDBs. In Oracle, there is no concept of None or Empty. Only null.

For my notes, regarding the Unique Values symbol option: In ArcGIS Pro, nulls get included in the "all other values" symbol class. That's different from how ArcMap works; nulls get their own symbol class. Screenshot. But Empty values don't get included in "all other values"; they do get own symbol class.

In an FGDB FC, I can delete a value from the Attribute Table. Before: Double click the cell. Hit the delete key. Press ENTER. After: I'm surprised that the deleted value resolved to Empty, instead of null. In comparison, an enterprise geodatabase like Oracle would have resolved to null. Is setting a FGDB value to Empty really a good design choice? Is Empty the right terminology? Or is it something else, such as a hidden space? How would we query for Empty values using SQL? Thanks. If I understand correctly, there isn't a way to remove a specific symbol class from the Unique Values list of symbols. For example, if I wanted to remove the AMETHYST symbol class from the list, I don't think there's an easy way to do that. Could functionality be added for removing specific symbol classes from the list? Thanks. ArcGIS Pro 3.0.3

Thanks! That works. Do you know if there's a way to symbolize All other values or Null values? (Similar to what we could do in ArcMap.)

Using a point shapefile, I want to symbolize features based on a field: P_COMMOD. I only want to symbolize certain values: ACTINOLITE AMETHYST ANTHRAXOLITE ANTIMONY Is there a way to only symbolize certain values like that? For example, is there a way to add or remove specific values from the symbol list? I would prefer to do it in a single layer, rather than using separate layers with separate definition queries and separate symbology. Thanks. ArcGIS Pro 3.0.3.

Whoa. That worked great. The GIF I made ended up being 31 MB. It looks like that's too big to upload to the Esri community: The file test_gif exceeds the maximum allowed size (9.79 MB). So I guess the challenge is to keep the files under 9.79 MB?

I like this idea. Would we want to only pin a single layer as always on top? Or multiple?
