You could do that. It all depends how big your application is and how much future enhancements you are looking to make. My suggestion would be keep the MapView within the View and then bind the Map property with the ViewModel as explained here and handle the events from ViewModel instead of code behind. This is good example of MVVM pattern. Use the MVVM design pattern—ArcGIS Runtime SDK for .NET | ArcGIS for Developers

If it breaks on the following line then please confirm if the mpk is supported for runtime. await localMapService.StartAsync(); If it get passed the above line without throwing any exception then please follow the suggestions which Mike provided in his last reply. If your mpk isn't too big would you mind attaching it here?

As pointed by Jian. This issue has been logged as an ArcGIS Server Print service defect. Here is the reference no.-[#NIM098798 PrintService not honoring different types of point symbols in the same graphics layer ] Update:- Just found out that this is as per designed. Unfortunately, not going to be addressed in the immediate future. Recommended workflow:- is to separate out different types of graphics into different GraphicLayers.

Our custom application uses the editor widget. Currently, the featuredataform that the widget uses formats and saves all datetimes as DateKind.Local. This isn't useful to us since whenever any datetimes are committed back to the database it is converted to DateKind.Utc. What I'd like to do is capture an event or otherwise gain access to the underlying featuredataform that the editorwidget uses so that I can change the DateKind to UTC, but I can't see where that control is exposed in the editorwidget. Any advice? You can download the source code from codeplex or Github for EditorWidget and FeatureDataForm. Basically, you can get access to FeatureDataForm through TemplatePicker class which is a component of EditorWidget internal static void ShowAttributeForm(FeatureLayer featureLayer, Graphic graphic)
{
#if SILVERLIGHT
ChildWindow window = new ChildWindow();
#else
Window window = new Window();
window.Owner = Application.Current.MainWindow;
window.WindowStartupLocation = WindowStartupLocation.CenterOwner;
window.SizeToContent = SizeToContent.WidthAndHeight;
window.ResizeMode = ResizeMode.NoResize;
#endif
FeatureDataForm form = new FeatureDataForm()
{
GraphicSource = graphic,
FeatureLayer = featureLayer,
IsReadOnly = !featureLayer.IsUpdateAllowed(graphic),
MaxWidth = 500,
MaxHeight = 500
};
window.Content = form;
form.EditEnded += (s, e) => { window.Close(); };
#if SILVERLIGHT
window.Show();
#else
window.ShowDialog();
#endif
}

Hi, I'm experiencing a performance issue when initializing a GeometryService with a local service. While the initialization can be very fast, it is sometimes extremely slow and takes 10-20 seconds. Are you familiar with this phenomenon? I'm using the 10.2 Runtime. Many thanks, Tal Are you able to reproduce this behavior with ArcGIS Runtime SDK for WPF Geometry operations samples too? For e.g. Area and Perimeter

Hi I'm new to ArcGIS Development, and I had some work on WPF,now I want to start developing my own application that support MVVM and Fully functionality WPF( like binding) and using custome control like treelike, stimulsoft and more,I figured out that ArcGIS Runtime SDK for WPF is not as complete as ArcGIS Engine,What Should I do? Anything specific are you looking to do using Engine which isn't available with Runtime? With Runtime you have options with Geometry Service, GP service and also SOE in case you absolutely have to use ArcObjects.

Hi there, I was hoping I could pick your brains about where to find a GIS developer to write an application for my firm. We are looking to have something coded in Runtime, and it should probably take a month or so. Is there any "freelance developer board" or something like that, where I could find someone? Anyone here looking for work? Thanks! -Mark Try gjc.org or dice.com. This isn't the appropriate place.

Hello, Should await --> async task, e.g. var credential = await IdentityManager.Current.GenerateCredentialTaskAsync("url", "user1", "pass.word1"); work in silverlight? When I try I get the message: "The await operator can only be used within an async method. Consider making this method with the 'async' modifier and changing its return type to 'Task'." Thanks. .NET 4.5 provides better asynchronous programming techniques using AsyncTask API operations to handle multiple requests asynchronously without blocking the UI. All AsyncTask are awaitable and hence require operations to be async with return type as Task instead of void. You could also use Task.Run to await a Task within any synchronous method if you would like. More about parallel/async programming can be found here

My application send a few IdentityTasks and few QueryTasks. Sometimes it works, sometimes it hangs. Fiddler show me, that requests was sent to the ArcGIS Server, but no response. How come? I use ArcGIS WPF Runtime v2.4. Can you provide some sample code here? Even better if you can test this with ArcGIS Runtime for WPF 10.2 using ExecuteTaskAsync method?

You can re-link them by going into C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Builder\App_Data\Sites.xml and adding your sites tag back. You can copy U3 site details and create another site tag. Please remember to change the Url and PhysicalPath attribute values to point to other websites <Site> <ID>20e948768a9840e18a0d08fb7f440595</ID> <Name>U3</Name> <Url>http://servername/Apps/U3</Url> <PhysicalPath>C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Apps\U3</PhysicalPath> <IsHostedOnIIS>true</IsHostedOnIIS> <IISHost xsi:nil="true" /> <IISPort>80</IISPort> <IISPath xsi:nil="true" /> <Description /> <ProductVersion>3.0.0.0</ProductVersion> </Site> <Site> <ID>0f00b33b4f93477ca2abb895f56e34c2</ID> <Name>s15</Name> <Url>http://servername/Apps/s15</Url> <PhysicalPath>C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Apps\s15</PhysicalPath> <IsHostedOnIIS>true</IsHostedOnIIS> <IISHost xsi:nil="true" /> <IISPort>80</IISPort> <IISPath xsi:nil="true" /> <Description /> <ProductVersion>3.0.0.0</ProductVersion> </Site>

I made an address locator with General Single Field style and it works perfectly in ArcMap. But in Silverlight it cannot connect to it for some reason. I think their may be a bug with that style address locator. Please download the latest version of the search tool if you haven't already http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=a236f090e28e4254b96a8a138cf3c46a I tested with General Single Field style locator service to search parcels. It found the parcels correctly using the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight 3.0 and the latest search tool as mentioned above. If you having trouble connecting to Geocoding service please use fiddler, IE or chrome developer tools and see if you get any errors under network or console tab. Please also try browsing directly to the REST Geocoding service to see if you can access it.
