Hi Walter - Did you receiving the error while trying to register the view you created in SQL Server Management Studio or the one you created in ArcCatalog. When you use the ArcCatalog tools, it will be registered with the GDB automatically, which would validate the error (in this case it's more of a warning that the view has already been registered). Making views in the database is not going to corrupt the database. You have to be careful with views that have been registered with the GDB because there are items written to SDE tables. Here's a quote from help: "You can use the Create Database View tool or the database context menu in ArcGIS Desktop to create a database view, or use the native SQL of your database management system (DBMS)." Okay, I suspect it has something to do with that....hopefully tech support can explain what is happening. Fiddler is a nice application to watch internet traffic. I included a snapshot below, but I could essentially see hundreds of calls to your AGS box when I started the application. Fiddler free web debugging proxy -Adam Z

I grabbed your REST service and added it as an item and built a quick basic viewer. I did not experience the same phenomenon. How did you consume your ArcGIS Server service into AGOL (individual layer per item or entire service as an item)? I watched the communication via Fidler on your app and it was making hundreds of calls back to your ArcGIS Server. I consume3d your entire service and my app made significantly fewer calls. If you have Chrome, add the Fiddler Add-In and watch the communication. Might be the way you consumed your layers into AGOL or how they were added (maybe altered) in the web map. http://citygov.maps.arcgis.com/apps/View/index.html?appid=52af0db39eb54cfdad4b714bb389b574 -Adam Z

Hi Jamal - Your first statement is correct. ObjectID 2829 was modified by two users, but modifications occurred to different fields. By Object is a conflict, by attribute is not a conflict. Your second example has the editors editing different ObjectIDs, so no conflicts of either type would be detected. If however, both editors were to edit the same attribute on the same ObjectID than By Object and By Attribute would both return conflicts. -Adam Z

Hi Bernie - Are you working against an Enterprise Geodatabase? I have ran SQL queries in the past directly against an Oracle Enterprise Geodatabase using ST_Geometry functions (geometry was stored using ST_Geometry). ST_NumGeometries If you have the Data Reviewer extension there are tools for this type of check. Not quite, when reconcile by object any change to any row by multiple users will result in a conflict. When reconcile by attribute, the same attribute would need to be edited for a conflict to be raised. -Adam Z

Having all your editors work in the same version would achieve that. Last edit is going to persist. When there are multiple edit versions the last created version will rule when using the batch reconcile tool. You could maintain your workflow, but choose to abort if conflicts are found...then go check each of the versions to see which you want to keep. Automated when no conflicts are found, manual but the results you want when conflicts are found. -Adam Z
