Is there a reason you do not use the USA Topo Maps map service provided by ESRI in ArcGIS Online? Regards, Jim

Leo, Use a con() statement in the raster calculator. Using: Ref_Raster and Result_Raster Con(IsNull(Result_Raster), Ref_Raster) so, where the condition exists that the Result_Raster is null, return the cell value of the Ref_Raster. If the Ref_Raster is null also, you get nothing returned. If the Ref_Raster has a value at that cell, you will get the value returned, so, you end up with a raster that only shows values where the Result_Raster is null, and the Ref_Raster is not null. Best Regards, Jim

There is the source of the problem. A jpg file format can not support 32 bit. Can you convert your 32 bit tif to an 8 bit unsigned tif prior to attempting a jpg conversion (do you need 32 bit data type)? Are any other file formats supported by the other software? for information regarding raster file formats, see: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//009t0000000q000000 Best Regards, Jim

At .85 degrees, this should be 2 or 3 cells tall, correct? So the cellsize is not being set correctly. Is the input point data in geographic coordinate system? Regards, Jim

Ben, Have you considered using the Raster Interpolation tools to go directly from the points to a tif raster? (ie: IDW or Kriging)? Regards, Jim

What are the specs of the tif? ie: number bands, pixel depth? How are you doing the export? Are you right clicking the tif and choosing >> Export? Are you prompted for promoting the pixel depth for adding NoData pixels? If so, choose No (no promote, export). Best Regards, Jim

Ryan, you seem to have covered all the possible settings, and I do not believe you have missed any. Perhaps it is time to use that annual maintenance fee, and try ESRI tech support. Best Regards and good luck, Jim

I can not see your layers, but perhaps you are miscounting the layers? The group counts as a layer item in the table of contents, SO if you had your first layer and then a group layer, and within the group layer you 3 layers, Roads, Streams, Houses, a pointer to the Houses layer would be [4]. You can verify the layer pointer with a simple print or arcpy.AddMessage statment like print arcpy.mapping.ListLayers(mxd)[7], and see if it returns what you expect. Regards, Jim

I suspect that the interpolation is Natural neighbor, and the smoothed one is bilinear interpolation. I have applied symbology via a lyr file through a script successfully (using bilinear). It is possible that you have bilinear interpolation set as the default for raster data in ArcMap, and the python script is applying a lyr file that specifies natural neighbor. Recreate the lyr file, and be certain to set the display to bilinear, and try applying that. Best Regards, Jim

Where is your annotation stored? In the map or in a geodatabase? IN the map: on the drawing toolbar, select Drawing >> Active annotation Group>> then select the one you wish to modify. Add your new labels. In a geodatabase: Start an edit session on your annotation, and add your labels. If your question is how to only label the new roads, do a join based on the road name. Then select by attribute, roadname1 = roadname2. Invert selection. label this selection. Regards, Jim

Remove this layer from the legend items. make 2 copies of this layer, and symbolize 1 by color and 1 by size. Set the definition query on both of these to eliminate all features. Use these 2 "fake" layers for your legend. Best Regards, Jim

I do not see a way to do it within the text box. You could give the text element a name, and then access that text element within a python script and change it with string / list functions. I use the following snippet to alter a text element in my layout view: for el in arcpy.mapping.ListLayoutElements(mxd,"TEXT_ELEMENT","SSPA_Tag"):
ToPoint = string.find(el.text,"_",5)
el.text = "SSPA_" + bkmk.name + "_" + ChemName + "_" + Today.strftime("%m/%d/%Y")
OutText = el.text You could similarly use el.txt = el.text[:5] to return the first 5 characters. Best Regards, Jim
