Hi, I have a Shortlist Story Map that has locations I would like to link with a department database to show the info from the databases. For example a lake I have included in the shortlist is also included in a lake stocking database within the department that populates a pop-up box in a Google Map app. It is requested to show the stocking information for the Story Map location and right now I'm wondering if this is possible to do thru the url option within in the text box? If not is there a way to create a feature service thru ArcGIS Server that would be dynamic with the database and add this as a service in the webmap that feeds the Story Map? Thanks for your help in advance!! Kathy

Hi raul.jimenezesri-es-esridist, We downloaded the 'ready-to-deploy' app and have added a splash page and customized the header and have that code hosted on our department server. Would I be able to customize this code or would it have to be the full source code from GitHub? As it works right now we just have the .html file linked with the appid on ArcGIS Online. I so appreciate your willingness to help with this! Thanks, Kathy

Hi, I do see there is "Adding Google Analytics to your Story Maps" story on the Story Maps Developer's Corner and I talked with our web person here at work. We are currently working with the Shortlist Story Map template and is it possible to get statistics on the actual locations within the shortlist to know which ones are viewed relative to the other locations? We are currently planning to put the story map within the iframe with our agency wrapper around it so I was looking at the Google Analytic statistics that the web team here normally use and they didn't think it was possible since the Story Map url doesn't change when you click between tabs or to different locations. I was hoping someone might be able to provide this info whether it was or wasn't possible. Thanks so much! Kathy

Thanks Rupert for the reply and information. Our Department internet is set up to actually block content from sites like Flickr and Google Plus among other photo sites so this isn't an option for us. Thanks for the information though!

Hi, I see the Shortlist beta currently "doesn't support importing images from your computer in bulk via the Import dialog but instead only one by one as you create or edit individual places." Is this something that the developers are working on? It would be a great bonus to be able to do this similar to the Map Tour template. Thanks, Kathy

Hi, I was hoping to find out if a couple of issues are know bugs in the Shortlist Story Map. It was pointed out yesterday that when a user clicks on a site photo instead maybe zooming in to that location on the map or possibly another photo the application goes to the next site location photo? This does not seem like a desired action for the user, can you tell me if someone is working on this or why it was designed this way? Also some users were having trouble with their back arrow within the site location photo box. For instance if they did click on the photo and the photo changed to the new location they then couldn't use the arrow to move back to the original site. I'm not sure if this is a browser update issue or what. It was working for some folks and not others. Here's a link to the story map. Thanks for your help, Kathy

I agree and for this application I will disable it. I am planning to demo it next week and I would hate to detract from folks wanting to use by seeing things that obviously reduce its usability and don't seem to work correctly. Thanks for taking the time to view and troubleshoot!!!

Well I see what you mean and because in this story map folks are more likely to type in rivers, bays and not precise locations do you think it would be better to disable the find feature?

I also just tried it in Google Maps and it zoomed right in to the correct location for "Cowee Creek". I type in "Cowee Creek"....then it shows "Cowee Creek, Juneau, AK" and zooms right in?

I'm glad there seems to be a reason behind it but it appears the Geocoder does find because it first shows up as "Cowee Creek, AK USA" and then it adds that gray dot in the correct location for Cowee Creek but it zooms way out. By adding the gray dot, hasn't the geocoder found it?

Sure....if you type in "Cowee Creek, AK".....it will zoom way out and somehow you are supposed to see a small gray dot on the map, but if you type in "Pelican, AK"...it zooms right in?

Sure, Here is the link. I did notice a few times where it actually does zoom in, but other times it zooms way out and then there is a gray dot of the location that wouldn't be obvious to users. Thanks for taking a look.

Hi, I'm using the Shortlist Story Map and I have the address, place, and feature finder enabled. When I type in a location the tool will find it but when I click on it instead of the map zooming in to the place I was searching for it does the opposite and zooms way out which isn't very useful. Is this a known issue? Do I have a setting not enabled correctly? As it sits right now it might be better if I disable the feature if its not working correctly. Thanks for any insight, Kathy
