Hello,
Latest Update: Already logged as BUG-000186284 as of 7/14/26, Please Esri this can't be an intentional change to take away the functionality in your streamlining without offering an alterative 'simplified' solution.
Update, I realized in looking back at our Enterprise it is the 'None option' in the 'Single' Selection that is no longer an option. It basically is a way to have all but I couldn't remember exactly. Can we bring this back?
It was just brought to my attention yesterday the All option in a category selector is no longer showing or available to configure. I cannot remember exactly where it was except under the 'Selector options' except there was an option to show 'all'. This is a setting that worked great and in our case showed 'all survey dates' for a given year, but this no longer shows?
Our dashboards have a default date (string) as the last date but then we had the option to show all? I see in the multiple option you can now select to show all but then I do not see a default to have it be first or last?
Am I missing it somehow? If not please revert and bring this option back? Why would it be removed? We've used it for SO many years.
Thank-you,
Kathy
Hi Kathy,
This came up in another post recently, it happened with the latest AGOL update at the end of June.
https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-dashboards-questions/category-selector-reset-missing/td-p/17108...
Apparently, it's been logged as a defect...at least in regards to the RESET button no longer being available. The bug number is BUG-000186299.
Thanks Katie,
That is good to know on the BUG and related but this is actually different because there was an option in 'Single' Selection to show 'All' and then I could type types "All Dates" or similar. I do see the option in the Multiple to 'Show select all', but there is no 'default' selection ('First' or 'Last').
There is no longer a 'show all' in the Single Selection OR in the Multiple Selection option a way to default to 'First' or 'Last'. I wish I had a screenshot prior to the June 2026 update, but this is what it looks like now in the category selector. I need a default selection to show initially but also the option to show 'ALL'. We've had that ability for years.
Ah, yes I see the difference with what you described compared to the established bug number. They definitely seem related though, and I agree, it's very frustrating that certain features like that were taken away with the update - it seems like a step backwards, not forwards!
Maybe you could contact Esri support and reference that bug number, and get this added as an additional bug or a supplement to the existing one? The more people report that it's impacting them and their business, the more likely it is to be brought back, I would think...
I'm reached out to support and will reference that BUG. Thank-you. I realized in looking back at our Enterprise its actually the 'None option' in the Category Selector 'Single Selection' that disappeared. I posted a photo in the original post.
I'm frustrated by this too! I guess people now can unselect the selected radio button to effectively select none (which I used to relabel in many of my dashboards to Show All or similar), but that's not intuitive because in most interfaces, radio buttons require one selection at all times.
This functionality was never a problem before. It worked great. It's pretty frustrating that Esri chose to spend development time taking away existing functionality that I haven't heard anyone griping about (not only the select none option, but also the combination date selector) when they could have focused that effort on implementing much-needed and often-requested new functionality like enabling users to sort tables by clicking on field names, improving the table download experience (by only including visible fields in the downloaded file and enabling download of tables created by data expressions without having to edit the dashboard's JSON), adding report generation functionality, or adding shared themes like other Esri web apps have had for years.
