Hi Xander Bakker and Kelly Doss, I really appreciate the code for displaying related records in the pop-up using the FeatureSetByRelationshipName. I have a question, I have a point layer with a related table and then a second related table to the first related table. This is from a Survey123 app in which points have related surveys and within the Survey123 there is a few repeat questions hence the second related table. Is it possible to access the second related table thru the pop-up with arcade and what function would you recommend? I would like to summarize counts in the second table displayed by most recent survey date. thanks in advance! Kathy

Hi, This is really great info and I've followed your example (join(",",${mbr_name}) in a repeat within a survey. What I'm wondering is there a way to display the label of the field instead of the field itself for in this case {mbr_name}. I have coded values and would prefer the labels over codes. Thanks!, Kathy

Hi Jenny Mehren, Tech support logged a bug #: BUG-000130427: illegal state error: Originating feature service layer does not support upload synchronization last week. In viewing the troubleshooting log within the Collector app, it showed a sync error with two layers that are in the app but do not have editing enabled. This is on purpose as reference layers. Feature layers with editing disabled and the c the advanced offline setting configured "device will never download or get updates for features" is causing the illegal state error in our case. I definitely prefer using the last advanced offline setting, but if you use the default offline setting, the data would sync without errors. Hopefully ESRI fix this bug. Good Luck!, Kathy

Hi, This response is very helpful, but I wish this was just the default setting. Is there a way to configure this to just be the default/stay on 'list attachments'. I'm sending data to others and it would be so nice if they could just click on the feature and view the pop-up without for each layer having them configure the pop-ups. Thanks!, Kathy

Hi, This morning I tried out the Attachment Viewer web app and noticed that photos within the same feature layer and displayed in other web apps (Basic Viewer and Time Aware web app) which show the correct orientation are shown upside down in the attachment viewer app. Why would this be? I can look at the photo attachment in the AGOL web map and it looks great (right direction), but when I click on the same feature in the Attachment Viewer the photo is upside down. Is there a way to rotate the individual images how they are viewed in the Attachment Viewer? Because the photos view correctly in the other apps I don't want to rotate the .jpg attachment itself? Thanks for your help in advance, Kathy

Hi Miaogeng Zhang, I just saved a copy of my original web map and added the tile layer back in and was able to successfully create an offline map area again with tile layer. The fix you applied must have worked because I tried for like a couple of hours on Friday evening AK time and was not able to get it. I'm so glad to know its working again! Thanks for the quick reply, Kathy

Hi, I have been creating offline maps for an existing web map and today when I tried I get a red 'failed' every time I tried. I really wish there an error that accompanied why the map fails? However it finally occurred to me that I didn't see one of my map layers showing in the packages within the map area. Once I removed the layer from my web map and tried the same offline area it packaged and worked. The data apparently making the offline map fail has been in there for the last month when I've been creating offline areas. Its a tile layer of NOAA nautical charts that is causing the fail. This has to be related to the last update because I created an offline area for the same web map last Thursday and this worked. I would much prefer to have the layer included in the offline map same as before. Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks in advance, Kathy

Hi, I've had this error occur multiple times now when syncing offline maps and I believe it is related to the settings in the offline map advanced settings. When I change the setting in 'Editable features to 'Device will never download or get updates for features", something is causing the two separate projects/web maps I have to get errors when syncing. I've attached the sync error but all it states is general error -illegal state. I've now deleted the current offline map and created a new one with the setting enabled above to retry my methods and now I am getting funky behavior that I had happen and posted about earlier (with no response yet). Currently in the offline web map when I submit a feature and then exit out of the feature collection the feature disappears from the map yet is a pending edit just not showing on the map. Is this the expected behavior or a bug? Then when I go to sync the data I get the same general error. Can someone please help with this error and workflow? What is causing this error? I was told that by selecting "Device will never download or get updates for features" option would allow us to collect features offline, they would show on the map during data collection, but not stay on the map when SYNCED. People need to see their survey observations on the map and not have them disappear after submitting. This has been a very frustrating process, Kathy

Thanks Aaron, For our surveys at least for this project there are no concerns with sharing the layer publicly. For the work around I have did create a new feature layer and have been uploading the downloaded tracks to that layer for sharing in the web app. Thanks for all your replies! I sure appreciate the responses as all of this is new to our group.

I'm writing to add more info to my original question. I believe what happened with those features I mentioned showing up in the offline map for download was due to the setting for automatic updates that occur on a weekly basis in the offline map areas. For the feature layers in the web map we have filters set on the data such as "CreationDate in the last 4 hours" and I think at the time there was features showing in the map and when the update occurred. I also had the offline advanced setting (see attached) set to the first option "Device will download and get updates to features and attachments". It was recommended by ESRI tech rep Chris Marsh to change the advanced offline web map option to "Device will never download or get updates for features". This would allow us to collect survey features but when the data is synced back in the office the data isn't downloaded to the iPads. Well I did update this setting and we proceeded to get an "Sync Failed" General Errors: Illegal State. I've searched online and I'm not finding much on this error. Luckily the data still synced. After getting the error I changed back that setting to our initial one the first option "Device will download and get updates to features and attachments" thinking the error was the result of this setting change. HOWEVER yesterday we seen some strange behavior in the Collector app. When you collect features and submit (offline), the features would highlight and then as you close out of that feature layer they would disappear from the map? The edits were there in pending status but you can't see them on the map???? Why would this happen? The only other change that I can think of that might be related is I've created a web app for viewing the data and time was enabled on the feature layers included in the Collector web map. I've now changed this to only have time enabled on the feature layer views (used in the display web app). I'm not sure if the map got corrupted or what but the features disappearing on that web map in Collector is behavior I couldn't get to resolve. My workaround was to create a new web map using the same feature layers and configure again for the survey. My initial testing showed the features collected remaining on the map during the survey prior to syncing. I would so appreciate if someone has seen similar behavior or what might cause the issue. Thanks!, Kathy

Hi Colin, Thanks for your reply. I had responded but I don't see my reply. The biologists are working in an offline environment and the data is from AGOL. In talking more with my coworker, it sounds like it was what you said above in that the tracks were still there or will show again once the map is panned/zoomed/refreshed. They may have turned them off the layer in the process as well. Our understanding, is that the tracks would update in the map with the location since the surveys are taking place in a plane and we thought the tracks would update similar to your tracks in a boat chart plotter. It sounds like this is sort of true with the tracks in the Collector app but a person has to keep interacting with the map to view the updated tracks (pan, zoom, refresh). Regardless this is good information to consider when using the apps. Thanks, Kathy

Hi, We are trying to figure out the best method to have a Collector survey map have NO PRIOR SURVEY FEATURES show in the Collector map, meaning a fresh map each day. This is really important! I've created an offline map that is clear of features by having filters set on the feature layers ('CreationDate in the last 8 hours') and the web map does not show any features that is used for creating an offline area. Yesterday a coworker collected features and synced them to AGOL. Since the features don't disappear after syncing our workflow has been to delete the map area on the iPad and then download the same original offline area. Today my coworker relayed that he deleted the map area and then downloaded the offline area only to still see his survey features from yesterday in the map. So as a workaround he deleted all the survey features from yesterday to have a clear map for today's aerial survey. We are downloading the data from AGOL each day so we do have a backup, but obviously we don't want to do this. Please tell us how we do we get a fresh/clear survey map each day and what is the best workflow? Thanks, Kathy

Thanks Aaron for the quick reply. I understand on the tracks location layer having editing enabled but I thought the view could have different sharing privileges enabled for views different from the original feature layer and in this case the 'location layer'. However from your response it sounds like the track view that is created for an AGOL user collecting tracks is not a typical view. Instead even though the track view created is called a view it is different than other views created in AGOL and will be restricted because of editor tracking enabled within the view and "view location tracks" privilege. I really wish there would be a way to eventually share the tracks with everyone. It sounds like we need a view of the tracker view? We are using the tracker app for surveys and the data being collected is public data on a fishery. The tracks layer is beneficial in showing the public where the survey took place. At the moment I was sharing for other coworkers to view survey results. We don't currently have Portal set up in our organization and not all staff have AGOL licenses. We were excited to share the data in an interactive map but then realized on the error after I had sent it out web app link since I do have privileges to view and I didn't get an error on the tracks layer when I shared with everyone. Thanks, Kathy

Hi, We have a tracks view feature layer that I've shared with everyone and added as a layer in a web map/web app. However when that layer is turned on in the web app, the display immediately switches to the AGOL login. Can tracks not be shared with everyone? I see the location service does not allow this but I thought with a view it allows you to enable sharing with everyone. The tracks layer currently shows the layer is shared with everyone but something is not allowing this. Is this a bug or am I missing a setting? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am currently creating offline maps with the new Collector for ArcGIS. Similar to the original post, we don't want features collected the day before to show up in the Collector map. Currently in the AGOL webmap, I have a filter to not show features in the last 8 hours which works in the webmap. We haven't figured out what works for the offline map and collecting data to not see data collected. What is the best workflow so surveyors will be able to collect data with no features in the map. Currently I'm recreating the offline map with that filter on the feature layers so there are no features in the offline map area. A surveyor downloads this offline map area -> collects and syncs features with AGOL -> will the features be gone from the offline map on their device or will they need to again download that offline map area at the start of each day. Thanks in advance!, Kathy
