We are using the following devices in the field to scan QR barcodes and we have had no issues: iPad mini 2 iPhone 6 iPhone 7 Samsung Galaxy S5 phone Samsung Galaxy S6 phone I will be testing an older ASUS tablet next week to see if we can put it into service as well. We are also using Aulux Barcode Label maker Enterprise Edition to create our barcodes. --gary Gary H. James & Priscila, We are using the pulldata function with barcode scanning to automatically fill in data fields (See attached). This way we can extend the data that we pull from our barcodes. This is working great to ensure that we receive certain data exactly how we want and to reduce time in the field for the survey takers. --gary Gary H. Mike, We are using GeoEvent to poll the hosted feature service from a survey and whenever a new record is added to the fs, an email is sent out. You can set this up to send the email for a survey or for an answer to a specific question within the survey. Are you using Survey123 Connect to create your surveys or survey123.arcgis.com? --gary

Diego, Survey123 does not work with GlobalID, GUID relationships for related tables (repeats) with Federated Servers yet. It is in the works but is not there just yet. I believe it may be available in the next release in April?? The repeats use ParentRowID/RelatedParentRowID for the repeats. --gary

Scott, I would like the Barcode reader available for 2 reasons. First, the autocorrect on some of the ipads changes the url and causes errors. Secondly, it would speed up and eliminate errors in setting up the portal login. The majority of our field users are contractors that do not know or care about our Portal url and scanning the barcode would eliminate the need for phone calls/email/text to get the url. Thanks --gary Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

As we have deploy Survey123 to our field staff and contractors, we include a brief instruction manual that we have created with the basic steps for downloading the app, connecting to our portal, download surveys, etc. We would like to be able to include a QR code that contains our Portal address in the instruction manual that can be scanned instead of manually typing in the portal address during setup to remove the chance of typing errors, autocorrect issues, etc. Thanks, --gary

Dan, I am referring to using Survey123 Connect. There is a field type ‘note’ that will simply display the label that you enter and within the label, you can use html formatting. I am not sure how survey creation works within AGOL. You may want to put in a request to add a note type field when you create a survey online. Sorry I couldn’t be any more help. --gary Gary H. You could add a note field and use html tags to format the text to look like a header or if you use a group for your section questions, the group name will be displayed as a header. --gary

I have a survey that contains 3 different groups of questions based upon the type of inspection being carried out - Daily, Weekly or Monthly (See attached xlsx). Each of the groups only become relevant when the inspection type question is answered. Within each of the groups, all of the questions contain default values of Pass to speed up data collection. The problem is that no matter which inspection type is selected, when the survey is uploaded, all of the questions with default answers send up data as if they were answered in the survey. I do not want the default answers of a daily inspection being uploaded when a weekly or monthly inspection is what is being done. I now have data results that do not accurately reflect the inspections we are doing. --gary

I don't believe so. There is a grid functionality in xlsx forms but i do not think it is enabled in Survey123. If you use the minimal appearance option, the question will only take up one line each and the survey will not be too bulky. You may want to use the horizontal-compact appearance so that the yes/no are check boxes rather than a pull down (easier to tap the check box on screen). --gary

You could create a group for each of the items in your description field. Then use select_one questions for the remaining questions. It may not look exactly as the table above but it will collect all the data you need. --gary

Survey123 always collects lat/long in the background when a survey is opened. You do not have to add a geopoint question to the survey if you don't want to. --gary

They used to work prior to the upgrade to using the camera. We used a bluetooth scanner and it sent the text data attached to the barcode back to the survey. Not sure if this will still work but i will try it with one of our external scanners and let you know. --gary
