Philip, I am able to republish the survey without data loss, however when i open an existing survey to resend, the survey is blank. I assume it is pulling the record from the feature service instead of the survey stored on the device. is this accurate? Can this be changed without having to go into the field and collect all 14 iPads and manually download the data? I am aware of several surveys that were sent prior to finding this issue and this will result in data loss and the need for our field crew to perform the surveys again as these are required regulatory surveys. Thanks, --gary

Ismael, We are not able to upload data to existing hosted surveys using the updated app (2.3.29). We are only getting blank records in the database. Was this the expected action with the all lowercase field name update? thanks, --gary

Philip, I was able to successfully upload data for the Monthly_Plunger_Survey using the Samsung 8 phone and version 2.3.29 of the app after doing the following: Republish app with all lowercase field names. I still cannot get any data uploaded to previously published surveys (all created with Connect, all hosted fs on our Portal) that contain Uppercase and lowercase field names. Was this the expected outcome with the update? If so, I did not see any notices stating that we should republish hosted feature services and change all field names to lowercase. Thanks, --gary

Philip, I installed v2.1.6 of Survey123 on the Samsung 8 phone, and was able to successfully upload data. There is definitely something up with the 2.3.29 being used to upload data via Portal. Thanks, --gary

Philip, All of the surveys were created using Connect with new feature services created. The field names contain both upper and lower case letters and there has been no change in the case structure. I attempted to upload a survey using an iPhone SE (iOS 10.3.3) that had never had Survey123 on it before and the record that was uploaded was blank. I believe the new app (2.3.29) is the culprit here and not the operating system as I have had blank records uploaded on both Android and iOS devices using the newest Survey123 app. I have 14 iPads in the field that are set to automatically update apps so that the field guys don't have to worry about having the most up to date software. I am seeing the same blank record issue from these devices and all data upload has been stopped. I have some very unhappy project managers. Feel free to contact me offline if needed. thanks, --gary

Philip, Attached are copies of 2 of the surveys that had the behavior. Well Safety Form2.xlsx is an update to an existing survey, Monthly_Plunger_Survey.xlsx is a new survey that is being designed. --gary

I was testing a new survey today and the following happened. Survey created using Survey123 Connect v 2.2.14. When I collected data on a Samsung Galaxy 6 phone using v 2.1.6 Survey123 app, all was fine. When I collected data on a Samsung Galaxy S8 using v 2.3.29 Survey123 app, the uploaded data resulted in blank records in my database. The app showed the data as sent but the data was blank (see attached). Thanks, --gary

Derek, I have been asked by our Survey123 Feild users if we can combine the 5 different surveys that they currently collect in the field, into one survey with each on separate pages/tabs. I know that Survey123 allows the use of pages/tabs, but i would like to keep the current feature services separate and not combine them. Any chance this is on the horizon for Survey123? Thanks, --gary

You are right Mike. That's why Collector would seem to be the obvious choice. It may not have the same form capabilities that Survey123 does, but you can still collect all the data you need with it all the while using an external receiver such as an R10 to get accurate data. I dont see the need to reinvent the wheel with Survey123 and add line and polygon data collection. --gary

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to collect line or polygon data using a phone or tablet? The data would be horribly imprecise. Have you looked at possibly using collector? --gary

We have deployed 14 iPad Mini 2 in the field for data collection at natural gas well pads. 32GB memory wi-fi only with weather proof case. I would suggest an otter box or fre life proof case to ensure better water resistance. We also have some field personnel using their own devices (Android phone, iPhone and Windows phone). Good Luck, --gary

Not sure there is a way to pre-set the barcode type but we only use QR barcodes and they work great with Survey123. --gary
