Hi Carly Petersen -- thanks for reaching out, sorry to hear there is something go wrong. A few quick troubleshooting items... - Ensure you are creating events for an initiative with a site (doesn't matter the sharing visibility) - Make sure all required fields are correctly filled out You'd be surprised how often those two things solve issues. If not, which sounds like might be your case, then try and save an event as a draft (only the title is required) and making updates to the event you already creating (could be as small as a quick punctuation change). If any of those fail and you still cannot create new events, then shoot me an email @ brollison@esri.com so we can troubleshoot your org's events system. Thanks!

Hi Joel Meier -- we added the ability to set the focal point of the background image on row cards not too long ago, give it a try and see if it suites your needs.

Hi Sunny Fleming - thanks for reaching out! I just tried reproducing this myself but wasn't successful. Is there a URL to the Hub page you could share? Or you can reach out to me directly at brollison@esri.com

Hi Joan Bastide - you had the right idea back in early-2018! We just completely overhauled our navigation system and now you can easily and intuitively build a header menu or your Hub site 🙂 Enjoy!

An update here, we have returned how the Gallery Card opens content to its behavior previous to 4/23. This means for the time being it will not use the App Page capability to open supported apps in the context of the site's header. We plan to reenable that functionality in the near future but discovered a few odd behaviors investigating the original question posted above. You can continue to configure your Gallery Card to open content in the same tab or a new tab -- keep in mind it is a best practice to open content in the same tab for non-sighted visitors and mobile visitors. Stay tuned for updates on this in the next few weeks!

Hi Devin Lavigne -- thanks for reaching out, great question and a valid concern. We use groups with events and initiatives to allow seamless sharing of content and messages to and among members of the group. This is particularly important to send messages to event attendees or initiative team members. There is an additional security benefit of leveraging groups as it doesn't require the event's feature layers or the initiative data model to be editable by the public. We acknowledge your concern -- it is very valid -- which is why we've been working with the ArcGIS Online team to pursue a lift in the group-to-user association limit and enabling groups and items (particularly those created by Hub) to be hidden from the user interface of an organization's content in ArcGIS Online. We'll keep everyone posted as we continue this conversation with them.

Anytime Christa Kemperman 🙂 So the simple answer here is dashboards don't behave the way apps do on the platform which makes the open behavior slightly different. Long story short: Applications have URLs associated with them which we use to reference the app and display under the header Other item types don't automatically have a URL associated with them, so we have to construct them You'll find dashboards aren't the only type of content that falls into the second bucket. We understand it is rather unclear which types of content are apps and which aren't -- they all look like apps at the end of the day. We are working to streamline this experience going forward. As an aside, you can now set your Gallery Cards to open content in the same tab or a new tab. If you have the "App Page" capability turned on and a single Gallery Card showcases both apps and dashboards, then both should open in either the same tab or a new tab depending on your card's configuration. The difference will be whether the content is displayed in the context of the site's header. Brian

Hi Christa Kemperman -- thanks for reaching out! If your site has the "App Page" capability turned on (Site Editor > Settings > Capabilities > App Page), then the gallery card will open any supported apps in the context of the site's header; however, if the app isn't supported by an app page, then it should open the app directly. The app page capability provides multiple benefits for viewers of your content, but two primary ones are: Non-Sighted Visitors -- one of the most jarring transitions for these types of viewers is opening an app in a new tab without any sort of contextual navigation in place; the app page capability provides this regardless if you set the app to open in the same tab or a new tab. Sighted Visitors -- they enjoy similar benefits to non-sighted visitors with the exception of being able to clearly associate the site's branding in the header with the app, raising the authoritative trust of the app and ensuring more consistent branding experiences for customers At any time you can turn off the app page capability. Keep in mind if the URL you are pointing to in your Application is HTTP when your site is HTTPS, then the Application will be blocked from loading sending you to an `/items` route. I noticed this might be the culprit with the "Interbestuurlijk Toezicht (IBT)" app on the gallery on Geo-Point Utrecht, the item seems to be an HTTP URL (http://utrecht.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=ff32bbd4045e4930b028a3bf145e9a38 ). I see what you mean about the "Webkaart" app, very odd -- we are looking into a fix right now. Thanks for raising it to our attention! Brian

Hi SonomaMap Admnistrator -- can you expand a bit on what type of customization you are looking for without using the code editor of the custom header? We are always looking for ways to empower our customers to do more with less and are intently focused on the header area right now. You'll start some easy to understand/do header customization rolling out in the next few weeks.

Tom Rippetoe I was able to reproduce the error and trace it back to the cloned site not being auto-shared to the Hub Administration Group. The user has edit privileges on the page (it is properly shared), which is why the changes are successful. The error message is displayed ("...lack of permissions...") because the cloned site the page belongs to isn't properly shared via the cloning bug. For any existing cloned sites, you can do the following to get around the bug... Log in to the home app Under "Content" find the cloned site's Hub Site Application item Select the checkbox Select "Share" at the top-right of the table Share access and update capabilities to "Hub Administration Group" We'll work on getting a fix together for the auto-sharing of cloned sites going forward.
