Gregory, Yes, you did answer your own question... an ArcGIS Layer file (Layer Package .LPK or .LYR for network connected data sources) is the way to go, for seeing Popup content as you authored it in ArcMap. Mark

Megan, ArcGIS Explorer Desktop maps (.NMF files) are only viewable in the ArcGIS Explorer Desktop application. They are not view-able in a web page. When Searching for Content online, if you want to see Desktop content make sure you check the box "Show ArcGIS Desktop Content" Mark

AB, Looking at your question I am thinking about it in two ways. 1. You have all of the XY information as points, how do you update the photos with that information? 2. The other is, how do I add the pictures to the shapefile? I think to get what you want, you will do both.. well actually you will create a new feature class that contains all of the information. For 1 there are a number of manual ways to do this.. One that I am familiar with is to use ArcGIS Explorer Desktop. ArcGIS Explorer | Download Click Add Geotag Photo Browse to your folder of pictures and select one or more. Explorer will ask you if you want to manually add Geotag information. Click yes, and then zoom the map to update each photo with geotag information. and continue... Once you have all of the photos updated you could use Geotag photo to point to create a feature class with a reference to the photos on Disk, as well as Attachment if desired. With geotag photo you just browse to a folder and it creates the Features from all of the photos using the Geotag information. Once you have done this, You can use a spatial join to your original points to transfer the attribute information you have to the new feature class. This is Step 2. Create a feature class that contains the Photo as well as the attribute information from the shapefile. Spatial Join allows you to specify a radius, so the manually tagged photos do not need to exactly match your shapefile points. In ArcGIS Explorer Desktop you could add your shapefile to help with tagging the photos as closely as possible to the desired position. Mark

Jeff, How are you trying to use the Logo in the Arcmap? just taking a guess, but if you are trying to insert a logo graphic into the layout you may want to try using a Markersymbol with a Picture Marker Symbol of your logo. Make sure there is no "gradient transparency in your logo" as it may not print well. For example. Here is a a picture of what it looks like on Screen in ArcMap Layout view. This is what it looks like printed out. In the Top logo the "gradient transparency" was removed to get a cleaner print. If we look closely at the logo on screen the glow effect is what I am talking about in regards to gradient transparency. Mark

I see the same issue in ArcGIS Explorer Desktop 2505. (the problem does not occur in the software we are working on for the next release). I notice that their is an image service that does work. NMC example here. http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=7b2e147e7e204b6193c80caa0fff8d36 Setting the image service properties as follows, will get it displaying the same as the Map Service.

Yes, it has happened again. We are modifying ArcGIS Explorer for the next release, to be more resilient in regards to future ArcGIS online updates. The next release should be available in Q1 of 2015. another thread on this issue.. Re: Basemaps and Layers no longer appear in ArcGIS Explorer Desktop Mark

It will function on a tablet running a supported operating system. However, ArcReader was not designed for a touch interface, so it works best with a mouse for navigation. mark

There is no workaround for this. If you create PMFs with ArcGIS 10.3 you will need ArcReader 10.3 to read them. ArcReader 10.3 can open PMFs that were created with earlier versions of ArcGIS, so it is backward compatible. But as you are aware, ArcGIS Publisher cannot make PMFs that are compatible with older versions of ArcReader.

Tom, An update to ArcGIS online is not returning the expected results to ArcGIS Explorer Desktop. As a workaround if you sign up for an ArcGIS Online account or use an existing one. https://www.arcgis.com/home/createaccount.html In your profile for your ArcGIS online account, set the Region to "World" Then when using ArcGIS Explorer Desktop, also sign in using this account, and the basemaps will show up correctly. If you set your region to United States, in the online profile, the basemaps will not appear. All of the basemaps and ArcGIS Explorers default map can also be accessed directly from http://www.arcgis.com/home/search.html?q=owner:esri_arcgisexplorer Mark

From ArcGIS Desktop Layer Packages work pretty good for this. A layer package contains the data as well as the ArcGIS LYR file which tells the software how do display the layer. From the table of contents just right click on the layer and click "Create Layer Package..." Here are a couple examples http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=1fdfd91a9d9e4f9da797db18f0f0dfd5 http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=5d9fe4f816334a6480345743b510ca1b http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=6bed03f96ed44e3fadb0d7177ecca66d

John, An update to sync up the code-base with ArcGIS 10.3 is being worked on. Those that have been following ArcGIS Explorer Desktop releases over the years know that I do not have a very good track record for predicting release dates. The best case scenario will have an update available in Q1 of 2015. Specific to Routing, there will be a change. The routing service that ArcGIS Explorer Desktop uses is being (has been) retired. ArcGIS Explorer Desktop will be updated to use a new routing service. The driving directions repeating stops issue will be fixed, and the results will be better in general. There is also another change. The new service is not available for anonymous use, ArcGIS Explorer Desktop users will need to be signed into an ArcGIS online organization in order to use it. As development progresses on the ArcGIS Explorer Desktop, I will post updates on geonet in regards to specific issues that have been addressed for the next release. Mark
