I use Franson GPS Gate to 'play' a NMEA file for use in other apps. For example you can have GPS Gate play the NMEA text file, configure a COM port for ArcPad to receive the streamed data on, and see it appear in the app just as if you are outside in the field. You can then capture lines, points or polygons from the data stream. GPS Gate can also output to other places, including directly to Google Earth.Take a look at the help link i included above. This method (of playing the data stream) is not a batch solution - you still need to use an app to create features from the raw NMEA messages. There's typically an app for everything, so there might be something that will batch process them, but NMEA text files are not really designed to be used for feature capture or storage.

I just tried a few different dataset's on Windows (some with AXF layers, some with shapefile's, some with one symbol for the whole layer and some with different symbols for different features in the layer) and I was able to switch quick capture tools on and off very neatly, and as expected. Are you on Windows or Windows Mobile? On Windows Mobile i did see a little strange behavior but if I uncheck everything, go back to the toolbar and they modify the visible tools again I get them to change. Not saying that this is by design on Windows Mobile, or a great experience, but just trying to find a way for you to get it to work. As always the behaviour SHOULD be the same on Windows and Windows Mobile

short answer = yes. longer answer = yes, but you need to take this into consideration before you collect the data. What type of post processing system will you use? Are you using Trimble tools? Then you need to use GPS Correct with ArcPad to collect the necessary files for post processing. OnPoz is another system for collecting data with ArcPad that can be post processed. You can also log full NMEA sentences in ArcPad that can be used in other software (or ArcPad itself at a later time) to generate positions. For a more specific answer, please add a little more detail to your question.

Short answer = copy the folder of files that you downloaded from github to C:\Users\username7\ArcGIS\AppStudio\Apps. The app will then appear in your AppStudio gallery. Longer answer (and more appropriate) = dont copy the files from the repo. You really should be using the template that is available in AppStudio. Although you see version 1.0.1, the files that you are creating your app from are based upon Trek2There version 2.0 (you can see this in the side panel of the template when you create your app). The 3.0.x files you see in the repo are currently being changed and will have features in them that you will not be able to use in the currently released AppStudio 2.0. AppStudio 3.0 is on its way, hence we are updating Trek2There to make use of some new features. And when AppStudio 3.0 is released, we will update the template for Trek2There in AppStudio to 3.0.x. Saying all of this if you really do need to download files from the repo, we recommend you still create an app from the template in AppStudio - this way you get the correct appinfo.json and iteminfo.json files generated - and then copy over the qml files in this folder with the ones you download from github.

There is one cavet with this tool - if your original survey used a submission url (eg: because you built it upon an existing feature service) that url will still be in the cloned spreadsheet. That's fine until you want to modify the new survey and want to publish it. Be sure to either delete the submission url or change it to point to the new feature service before republishing the survey.

ArcPad 10.2.5 is available to download from My Esri. This release includes improvements to installation, geodatabase subtypes, defaults and definition queries. Installation When installing as an administrator, registry keys are now created in the local machine registry location. Licensing ArcPad as an administrator will enable all users of the machine to run ArcPad. The application path is now correctly defined in the registry for 64bit machines. The ArcPad installation now includes a sample batch install script. Install ArcPad once to get the script for additional installs. It is recommended that you manually uninstall any previous versions of ArcPad before using this script. The script does detect installations of ArcPad but with the fixes to registry keys in 10.2.5, some registry keys of older version may get left behind. To use the script: Install ArcPad 10.2.5 on one computer From the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\ArcPad10.2\Extras copy the files InstallArcPad.bat and UninstallArcPad.vbs to a shared folder location, for example \\share\ArcPad, or to a SD card or thumb drive. Copy the ArcPad installation executable to the same location as the script file Launch an administrator command (or powershell) window at this location and type: ./installArcPad.bat licensenumber Where ./ indicates the current folder location (where the script is located) and licensenumber is your own ArcPad license. Assuming all associated software is installed on the computer already – ArcMap, Windows Mobile Device Manager, Python - the installation (and un-installation if required) will proceed until complete with no user interaction. If these are not on the computer you will be prompted to acknowledge their absence. ArcPad Data Manager Definition Queries When checking out data that has definition queries defined - two options are available: check out all data to the AXF and apply the definition query to the AXF layer for, or check out only the features included in the definition query. For more information on when to choose which option see Get Data for ArcPad. Subtypes and defaults At 10.2.5 all expected data is now checked out when layers contains subtypes, and specific attention has been paid to the case when not all subtypes contain domains. ArcPad Complementary to the improvements to check out, definition queries are applied as expected in ArcPad. Forms are now correctly created for related tables when the features class contains subtypes, and the subtype fields are displayed as expected. Coded value domains are honored if layers have subtypes. Errors have also been reduced during feature synchronization. Common errors that should appear less (or not at all) are 'objectIds is null or not an object' and 'layer.length is null or not an object'. And last but not least the Lambert Conformal Conic projection error has been resolved.

Adding the school choice leads you down the path of needing a cascading select ie: choose school and then from a reduced list of activities, choose an activity. If you haven't already tried the cascading select sample, do have a look at it. Saying that, I tried using a choice_filter on the question that does the pulldata from the csv (to limit the list to activities that are relevant to a school that was chosen in a previous question), but it doesn't work - nor is it really designed to. The choice_filter is really about limiting the list in a second select_one question. So does each school have a different list of random activities? Or can you arrange your information so you use the same list of random activities for each school? I think this would be the best way to do it. Or can you organize groups of lists? eg: schools 1,5,6,7 use list 1 and schools 2,3,4,8,9 use list 2? Then you could use the random choice generator as above, just apply it to different questions.

Yes you can customize Survey123 using the template supplied in AppStudio as little or as much as you like. Id suggest that you use the template to re-brand the app, and then using the URL scheme that Ewin suggests, to launch your re-branded app with the survey you want. You can go further if you like, but that's really up to you and how much time and skill you have to put to the customization task. Re-branding should be minimal effort

Have you tried setting the transparency on the image in its layer properties? Go to: Table of Contents > Select the layer > Layer properties > Transparency. The default is no transparency, change this to black. Click OK. You should see the black parts of the image disappear. See ArcPad Help for more info.

I usually loathe describing issues as design / bugs / enhancements because these classifications are very subjective (one persons enhancement is another persons bug!) but i wanted to in this case, so i could outline the different behaviors that exist. Its great to hear you are using this Process ArcPad Project toolbox tool. Initially i did only think of check out wizard in ArcMap, but yes the change would also be in the toolbox tool and accessible with code.

I'll start with what some might see as software development jargon, but bare with me I will get to an honest proposal. This bug is not 'fixed' because technically its not 'broken'. What happened between SP1 and SP2 is that the behavior was changed by design. In SP2 onward, at check out, the definition query was imported into the AXF deliberately to support the ability to have a single feature table, which could be referenced by many feature layers. This enables users to symbolize layers differently, but only have one set of attributes stored and no duplication. The behavior Mick describes is equally valid in his specific case ie: use the definition query to cookie cut the data that is checked out to ArcPad, but for some users this would result in multiple copies of the same attribute data. Coincident with this most recent comment we are looking at some fixes for ArcPad and are contemplating a number of very isolated changes in the AXF that will help current users. Mick - If there was an option in the Data Manager that allowed you to choose how to treat the definition query at check out - either: 1) Apply the definition query before check out and have 1:1 tables to layers in your AXF, or 2) Export the definition query to the AXF and keep 1:M tables to layers in your AXF Would option 1 suit your project needs? (Option 2 is the current behavior in ArcPad).

If you can not open the AXF in ArcPad or ArcPad Studio, you can use FME or the Data Interoperability Extension for ArcGIS to export the contents to another file type (eg: geodatabase or shapefile). For more information see the ArcPad Help .
