I got an error when I debug the proxy.ashx error message screenshot is attached. Were you ever able to solve this issue? I get the same thing when I try to access http://localhost/proxy/proxy.ashx, and anytime I try to access a service through the proxy page I get an error 403.

I've got a web app and I'm trying to add some functionality to it that would allow users to draw polygons on the map, and then get the coordinates for the vertices of that polygon. The measure tool allows you to draw polygons and get coordinates from a point, but as soon as you select the option for Location, the polygon goes away. I'm not certain of the best way to attack this - would it be better to create an editable layer that the user can use to draw their polygons? If so, how would I get the coordinates of the drawn polygon to the user?

Thanks for the response; I think I understand this a little bit more now. But does this mean the values HAVE to be separated by a comma, or some other character? This is a pretty large inconvenience, as an end user might not understand why they aren't receiving driving directions even though they are, in their mind, typing the address in correctly. Frankly, this is not functionality that I would want my end-user to have to deal with. Is there a way around this? I know if I go to google maps I can type my address pretty much any way I choose and a route will be found.

I've been playing around with the Get Driving Directions sample and it seems to have some errors. I was attempting to find directions between some local addresses and Firebug was constantly spitting out the following error: "TypeError: err.details is undefined". This only happens when there are issues with the way the address is typed. After playing around with it a bit, I've found that the format of your address has to be VERY specific; each element of the address MUST be separated by a comma or the map fails to find a route. So "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC, 20050" would be an appropriate address, but "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington DC 20050" would not be (even dropping just one comma will cause the map to find an error). This certainly compromises the usefulness of this tool. Is this a network analyst problem or something with the code in the sample itself?

I'm working on putting together a map with about a dozen different layers, each with their own unique fields. Is there a better way to go about setting up the info templates for each, without just spamming my script with a dozen unique infotemplate variables? I'm pretty new to Javascript and I feel like there's gotta be a way to do this in a neater way, but I don't yet have the experience to figure it out.

Actually, I ran into that same problem! I pored over a lot of the help topics and they all claimed that the legend is supposed to update automatically when the layer visibility changed, but that never worked for me. If anyone has an answer to it, I'd love to know!

Try this tutorial. I was trying to do what you're doing and this sample helped me put something together.

Try this code: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=9b6280a6bfb0430f8d1ebc969276b109 That worked for me, but I'm not sure why we have to use a user-created widget instead of something built in to the API.

Thanks for trying - that's interesting. I tried it on two different machines and got the same error; I wonder what it is on our end that's causing it. Nevertheless I was able to use the try function in Python to batch the process. EDIT: Ahh, when you said it only takes the first band, I tried selecting out only one band and it worked. It should have been obvious that it would only work on one band, but now I know. Thanks!

The attribute table that I'm getting is complete, so I'm fairly certain that's not the issue. To be sure, I tried the tool on a much smaller file (from the same source) and it still returned the error. Honestly, if I can't resolve the error it'd be fine if I could tell Arc to keep running the batch tool even when an error pops up. I haven't worked with Python in a while - could I write a script to do this?

Oops, forgot to mention that earlier - the .shp files are coming out at around 320mb and the .dbf's are around 50mb. Likewise the rasters aren't very large; only about 10mb. EDIT: For kicks I tried performing the task on another raster and it was successful, so there's something about this particular group of rasters that's causing the issue. I'm going to clip out a small chunk of one of them to get the file size down and upload it here, maybe that will help.

When I run the Raster to Polygon tool, I get the following error: Error 999999: Error executing function. Cannot create feature dataset. Failed to execute (RasterToPolygon). The strange thing is, an output is still generated - and as far as I can tell, it seems perfectly fine; but since I'm doing this in a model, an error causes the model to abort, so I need to be able to resolve this. I tried disabling the Simplify Polygons option; I tried changing the value field (even though the only other value is "count" and that wouldn't give me correct results); I tried simplifying the filepath to exclude spaces and symbols; I even tried writing to a gdb instead of creating a shapefile. The outcome is the same every time. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply Jennifer - fortunately, I figured it out! var map;
var oysterLayers;
function init() {
var extent = new esri.geometry.Extent({"xmin":409914.00497589994,"ymin":104607.44204058842,"xmax":482562.42004832183,"ymax":141217.9675552771,"spatialReference":{"wkid":26985}})
map = new esri.Map("map",{extent:extent});
var baseMap = new esri.layers.ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer("http://www.mdimap.us/ArcGIS/rest/services/ImageryBaseMapsEarthCover/MD.State.MDiMap_Gazetteer83M/MapServer");
map.addLayer(baseMap);
oysterLayers = new esri.layers.FeatureLayer("http://www.mdimap.us/ArcGIS/rest/services/Biota/MD.State.BayOysters/MapServer/0");
}
function toggle(form) {
if (form.checkThis.checked) {
map.addLayer(oysterLayers)
} else {
map.removeLayer(oysterLayers)
}
} The layer I was trying to toggle with a checkbox was the one defined by the oysterLayers variable. I had originally defined that variable under the toggle function; for some reason when doing that, I could add the layer via the checkbox, but not remove it. Any idea why that's the case? I'm still quite new to JavaScript so I'm not able to see why that wouldn't work.

Is there a way to do this? I can remove layers added as dynamic or tiled map services, but I can't remove layers added as a Feature Layer (unless I use .removeAllLayers, which of course gets rid of everything, which I don't want). Why doesn't .removeLayer work with Feature Layers?
