The new direction widget looks fantastic - I love how easy it is to code! There doesn't seem to be a page in the API reference for this widget yet so I wasn't able to research more into it, though. Is there a way to automatically populate the ending address? I have a map with several sites on it and I'd like to allow users to click on a site, click a link to get directions, and have the address (which would be saved into a field in the layer) automatically show up as the ending address. Is this possible?

I've been working with editing hosted feature services lately and have found a couple of bugs (I've noticed them in both Firefox and Chrome; I haven't tried other browsers) that really make the process annoying. 1. When editing attributes of a feature that has a lot of fields (enough so you have to scroll through the popup to see them all), the popup automatically scrolls to the top of the list of attributes after you've entered data into a field and click or tab to another field. VERY annoying. 2. I'm not able to consistently reproduce this problem, but when in edit mode if I switch the basemap, sometimes I'm no longer able to click on another feature and edit it (or even get a popup). The only solution seems to be to refresh the browser and try again. Sorry if there's a better place to submit bugs, but I wasn't able to find one.

It looks like the query task is never being told to run. Check out this link on the API Reference page. You'll have to have a line in your code somewehre that says queryTaskBldg.execute(parameters); you probably want to stick it in a function where you listen for an onMouseOver event over the graphic layer.

Is this possible? I tried searching through the documentation and wasn't able to find a way.

My recommended solution would be to use maxAllowableOffset to have the geometry generalized server side before being sent to the client. This will result in a faster response from the server. A little extra work is done server side but less data is sent to the client. Since the majority of time for the request is spent downloading data and parsing data, sending less data to the client is where you'll see the biggest performance improvement (even in browses that handle this volume of data easily, you should see better performance as it will take less time to download the data from the server). I've seen the use of a max offset recommended a lot on forums, but according to one of the links you provided (http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/jshelp/#best_practices_feature_layers) layers in ONDEMAND mode automatically set a maxAllowableOffset. I know in certain instances one can't use ONDEMAND mode (ie for a map I'm making that requires a layer be added in selection mode); but otherwise, is there a reason to manually set the max offset as opposed to just setting the layer to ONDEMAND mode?

Glad I found this thread - I was having the same issue where the print button was adding itself above or below the toolbar next to the other tools. Adding float:left to the CSS fixed that problem. Now, though, the print button screws up the "look" of the toolbar. I have three other items added to the toolbar, all of them dijit.form.DropDownButtons, which all line up neatly when added to the toolbar. Adding the print button - I suppose since it's a "button" not a "DropDownButton" - messes with the alignment. See the attached screenshot. So far I've left the CSS of the drop down buttons the default claro style, but before I go customizing them I'd like to have the Print button match their style. Is there a way I can call in the print dijit as a .dropdownbutton instead of a .button, so the styles match?

I believe my error was due to downloading the proxy from an older help page (which had an older version of the proxy). Once I found the newest version of the proxy and had it set up, it fixed my problem. I just spent a few minutes looking through the new JS API Resources page trying to find the newest version of the proxy for you, but I can't seem to track it down. ESRI really needs to work on getting a search function up and running again!

Are you certain your proxy is working correctly? I had a similar issue when trying to create a print task to a web map; the first time I clicked the Print button I would get an error, but it would work if I clicked it a second time. It turned out my proxy wasn't set up properly; correcting that fixed the problem.

I've created a feature service (hosted on ArcGIS online) that I want users to edit. I've gone into the service and clicked the boxes to allow editing, and tracking of edits. When I save, the feature service says that editing and tracking is turned on, but when I go back to look at the service later, they're both listed as "Disabled". Strangely enough, users can still edit features, but their edits aren't being tracked. I can only think of one reason why this may have happened - this particular service had to be updated at one point. I'd previously downloaded the shapefile to make the necessary updates, deleted the existing service from my account, and re-uploaded it. The old service saved all this information, but the new one doesn't. Has anybody experienced this issue before?

This might not be the "correct" way to do it, but I wanted to accomplish the same thing and I borrowed from this sample. Instead of creating a listening event for "onMouseMove" or "onMouseDrag", I listened for a mouse click to start a function that adds the coordinates to an array (make sure to clear the array at the start of the function!). Then you can just add the elements of the array later to your info window or wherever you want them to go.

Sorta happening again now. If you open up the service and zoom in one level (the third smallest scale), the bottom portion of the bay will be green, but the rest will be in the appropriate symbology. Zoom in one more level and the green tiles are blue again, but the tiles immediately above are green. The upper portion of the bay is also green at this zoom level, and the next. At the largest scale, every tile seems to be displaying correctly.

I've never really tried uploading thumbnails, but I've experienced a number of occasions where simple processes take forever to finish. Earlier today I was simply trying to save a map, and the window "Saving map to My Content..." appeared and never went away. Sometimes publishing a feature service will take 45 minutes (the shapefile itself will upload quickly, but the feature service won't be generated for quite some time). It's quite annoying.

I published a tiled map service to ArcGIS Online. It's a waterbody, so I used the "lake" template in ArcGIS (blue fill with a darker blue outline). When I initially published it to ArcGIS Online, the symbology was correct. After making a map with this layer, I went back to use it again and the symbology had changed to a basic green with a gray outline. When I zoom in, at the second largest scale some of the tiles will have the correct symbology while others have the wrong symbology. At the largest scale, all the tiles seem to have the correct symbology. All other scales I get the green fill. How can I correct this? Here's a link to the service: http://tiles.arcgis.com/tiles/njFNhDsUCentVYJW/arcgis/rest/services/MDShoreline/MapServer EDIT: Just looked at my service again and now the symbology is once again correct. Any idea why it's sometimes working and sometimes not?

It's only been a few months, but has this capability been added to ArcGIS Online yet? I've been trying to upload a feature service with time series info and haven't been able to figure it out. I'm guessing this still isn't implemented yet, is that correct?
