Hi Kellen, There are definitely lots of ways to analyze this kind of data in ArcGIS. Have a read through this overview of the spatial statistics toolbox: ArcGIS Desktop.

Did you look at the Sort tool I mentioned? It creates a new feature class which is already sorted.

I'm wondering if the feature class is being created, but not where you expect it to. I think you need to set the workspace in the python script.

Hi Adrian, I'm not certain what you mean by "the expression required", but you can either sort by right clicking the field heading in the attribute table, or using the Sort tool: ArcGIS Desktop

It's hard to tell without seeing the model or the toolbox, but is it printing all the messages? What about the final GetMessage?

The very worst is when, after several lengthy back-and-forths, a poster says your answer fixed their problem, and thanks you, but doesn't mark your answer correct. Then, when you gently nudge them to mark their question as answered, they mark it "assumed answered", and at the same time, ask you another question. Sorry for the Off-topic rant PV. This wasn't about you. I thought you handled things fine.

If you want to keep the fill, you can just drag the other boundary layers on top of your precinct layer in the table of contents. Anyway, once you have them in the order you want them, you can just right click the layer you want to edit, and select start editing. It is not good idea to take your data outside of ArcMap to edit, such as excel, as that can really mess things up. I would advise that you read this introduction to editing: ArcGIS Help 10.1

Is it just that you have your precinct shapefile on top of the other layers, and it has a sold fill that obscures everything beneath? Try changing the fill to none.

Oh great! I'm glad that fixed it. Do you mind marking your question as answered, Marlena? It will help others find the answer if they have the same problem in the future. Thanks!

Yes, I spotted at least one myself... it should be, for field in fieldList That's what I get for trying to think so late at night. I'm glad you solved your problem. That, after all, is the point.
