Hello Sanjeevi, In taking a look at the XLSForm it seems that the labels were not formatted text even though they looked like they were. When I would double click on the label it would pop to the right-hand side of the cell indicating they were numeric. In a separate column I had used the function =TEXT(<cell>,"0") to convert the numbers into integers. Documentation link. I then copied the text cells and pasted them back into the column they were supposed to be and they worked as expected. For your second question, the documentation says "External selects are designed to work with choice lists associated with a cascading select only. Only choices with an applied choice filter will be added to the itemsets.csv file." This means that external selects are designed to work in conjunction with cascading selects. The external_choices tab is not invoked until there is at least one select_one question with a choice_filter. Please use James's comment here for reference: https://community.esri.com/thread/214070-external-select-lists#comment-768979 What I had done to modify your survey was to move the villagename choice list to the choices tab but kept the plot number choices on the external_choices list. I then saw an issue where the plotnumber question was grey and did not have any choices. This was because in the same documentation linked above in the cascading selects section it says that values used in the name field of the choices sheet must be text and not numeric. I had changed the name of the villagename choices to a,b,c,d,e for example and once I did that the form worked as expected. Please find attached a copy of the XLSForm. Thank you, Zach

Hello Katherine, One option is to configure the pop-ups in the web map to use the ArcGIS Survey123 custom URL Scheme and pass along the XY coordinates for the center of the existing features into your Survey123 survey. Hello Andrew, Is your ArcGIS Enterprise Portal configured with Integrated Windows Authentication? Additionally, is your Portal publicly available? Meaning if you were to try to hit your Portal from home without a VPN or from Starbucks, for example, can you successfully hit your Portal outside of your network? Hello Nadine, I apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for passing along some additional information regarding your workflow. When you said that you created a view I am not sure where the utility URL is coming from that you had mentioned earlier as a view layer typically has a servicesX.arcgis.com URL and not the utility proxy. The Utility URL usually is generated when a secure service has its credentials stored as an item. https://utility.arcgis.com/usrsvcs/servers/3054ecddae7243ecb687a6cbce38e858/rest/services/_CCNN_Volunteers_/FeatureServe… Originally you had also mentioned that you had placed the above URL into Survey123 Connect and tried to publish the survey but obtained an error message. When you pointed the survey to the view url, in the submission_url cell, settings tab of the xls form were you able to successfully able to republish the survey? As for what submission URL is the correct URL to use in the submission URL setting for the XLS Form in the documentation to create surveys based on existing services it has a screen capture of how the submission URL should be formatted: You will replace the item ID at the end with the item id for whatever feature service you would like to use that matches the schema of the XLS Form. I have placed a brief screen recording below of two workflows the first one was creating a view layer and the second one is storing the credentials for a secure service (Both of which point to the same source service and both can be used in Survey123 Connect as the submission URL). I then replace my Submission URL in my XLS Form with the URL for the service that I had stored credentials for and was able to publish the survey successfully. After making the service the submission URL was pointing to and the Web Form public I was able to access the survey without having to log in: Thank you, Zach

Hello Nadine, The URL specified is for the proxy that is created when you store credentials in the ArcGIS Online item you created. The submission URL should look like: https://<Your ArcGIS Online Org>.maps.arcgis.com/sharing/rest/content/items/3054ecddae7243ecb687a6cbce38e858 Alternatively, the easiest workflow to create a survey based on your secure service is to open ArcGIS Survey123 Connect > Sign in to your ArcGIS Online Organization > New Survey > Feature Service > Search for the ArcGIS Online item that references your secure service's name and give the survey a title. This workflow will automatically populate the submission URL with the correct URL and will automatically create the XLSForm based on the fields in the service. Hello Nadine, For your secured feature service is this a feature service in ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise / ArcGIS Server? If the service is in ArcGIS Enterprise what version of Enterprise are we using. Alternatively, if we are using a standalone ArcGIS Server what version of ArcGIS Server are you using? What URL specifically are you placing in Survey123 Connect? Is the URL https://<portal Url>/sharing/rest/content/items/<Item ID for the Feature Service>? Hello Yuko, To determine what version of the ArcGIS Survey123 Web App you are using you can navigate to the Settings tab for the Survey. Under version, it will tell you what version you are using and allow the option to use the latest version. As for the behavior observed I see the same behavior when testing on my end. In researching, I found this GeoNet post by James that discusses a similar workflow but for linking to the ArcGIS Survey123 Field App. I will continue researching and testing to see if there is a workflow to link to the Web App. Thank you, Zach

Hello Didem, We have a GeoNet Article that goes through the workflow of reverse geocoding in ArcGIS Survey123. Please use this link for a reference regarding the article: https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2018/07/06/understanding-reverse-geocoding-in-survey123-30 If you are looking specifically for the full address you can specify only the Match address JSON to be returned, or if you are looking for a shorter label you can use the ShortLabel object. For example, the pulldata syntax can look like pulldata("@geopoint",${the_location},"reversegeocode.address.Match_addr") for the full address or pulldata("@geopoint",${the_location},"reversegeocode.address.ShortLabel") for just the street name and address number. Another option is to use another pulldata function to extract components from the JSON response you currently have. For example, you can create a new text question and do something like: pulldata("@json",${reversegeocode_json},"address.Address") to return the address. In Survey123 Connect we have a sample that goes through the second workflow. If you were to create a new survey when you are specifying the New Survey information you can select the option for Samples and towards the bottom, there is a Reverse Geocode sample. Thank you, Zach

Hello Petronila, In your ArcGIS Online Content, there should be a folder associated with your survey name. That folder should contain your Form Item when you published the survey and will likely contain your stakeholder view. For example here is what the folder looks like for my Dogs test survey: If the stakeholder view already exists in that folder you can either try sharing your stakeholder view from ArcGIS Online and it should be reflected in the Survey123 Web App. Alternatively, you can try deleting the stakeholder view from the folder which should unshare the survey in the Survey123 Web App and then reshare it from the Collaborate > Viewer tab. Spatial analysis is a key component in GIS work, it allows us to understand the spatial relationship between our data and the world around us. ArcGIS Survey123 is a great resource to efficiently capture data either using the Web App as well as the Field App to take surveys. The Survey123 platform also provides tools to easily extract that data using Feature Reports. Survey123 Feature Reports which came out of beta in the 3.5 release of Survey123 is a great service to quickly consume data in a format that is defined and customized by the user. Survey123 Feature Reports are effective in understanding your data and responses obtained, but what about performing spatial analysis on your Survey123 results? In this blog post, I will describe how to analyze your Survey123 results using the Business Analyst Online Reporting and Infographic Services to further understand your data and extract additional information that may not easily be apparent in your survey results. The Infographics or Reports obtained from Business Analyst Online can then be exported and used in larger applications. Infographics can be exported as PDF, an image, or Dynamic HTML that can be embedded into another website. Reports can be exported as PDF’s, Excel documents, or both. The example below shows the default Tapestry Segmentation report for an Area of Interest, although both Infographics and Reports are highly customizable to look how you like and can include a wide variety of available data that can be viewed from this data browser. This blog will follow an example for city park inspections with the goal of utilizing ArcGIS Survey123 to provide a temporal system of record for the city’s parks that will update every so often tracking historical changes. Using the GIS data collected from the survey the example will further identify community factors around the parks. With the brainstorming help from James Tedrick and our conversation on the workflow, it seemed appropriate to create a little blog outlining the ideas discussed. I would also like to thank Ismael for his suggestions and feedback on the article I appreciate his time reviewing it and passing along his thoughts. Below is a workflow for using Survey123 results to run Business Analyst Online Reports and Infographics: Once the park data was collected in the hosted feature layer since the GeoShape question type was used to outline the park boundaries, the service was pulled into a Web Map to define areas of interest surrounding the data. Unfortunately, Rings can only be added to center points in Business Analyst Online so the areas of interest needed to be specified using the Create Buffers tool in the Web Map’s Analysis tools. A new Business Analyst Online project was created and the Web Map was imported into the project. After pulling the Web Map into Business Analyst Online areas can be set up to be used in Reports or Infographics. Once the areas are configured any Reports or Infographics that were created or shared with me can be run with my survey results. Getting started: Just like Survey123, Business Analyst Online also has great resources to get started with creating a project and creating your first Reports and Infographics. As mentioned previously Infographics and Reports are highly customizable to meet your organization’s needs. Infographics and Reports can highlight different variables than configured in the default templates and really be customized to show the exact information your organization is looking for. In more current events using the workflow above with the Esri demographics data can also help identify socioeconomic trends with the spread of COVID-19. Many organizations are making use of ArcGIS Survey123 to monitor resources and supplies, people, and assets. Esri has many great resources to leverage like the Coronavirus Response Website tutorial and Operations Dashboard to implement these surveys and make them widely available. The geographic results of these projects can be further assessed using the tools present in Business Analyst Online. For example, the John Hopkins Coronavirus dashboard has recently implemented a U.S. Map section that utilizes the COVID-19 Status Reporting Infographic present in Business Analyst Online. John Hopkins University is using County polygons to run these reports, but the workflow outlined in this article can be used to make connections between your Survey123 results and the socio-economic factors around your data. Dashboards and Web Apps are great options to highlight those connections and shared across organizations. Please follow the Survey123 Twitter feed to stay updated with examples from the community. Hi Katie, To obtain a better picture of our workflow and behavior encountered I have a couple of additional questions. Is the data hosted in ArcGIS Online or is the data coming from an ArcGIS Enterprise deployment? If the data is coming from an ArcGIS Enterprise deployment is the data registered with an Enterprise geodatabase? Are we using Collector on IOS, Android, or Windows? If we are using IOS what version of Collector are we using Collector for ArcGIS 19.1.0 or Collector for ArcGIS Classic 19.0.2? If we are using Collector for ArcGIS Windows, Android, or IOS Classic if we change our Synchronization settings to "Push Only" are we able to successfully sync the data? Thank you, Zach
