Hello Muhamad, Can you verify if you can add a CSV file into Portal My Content page using the Add Item menu? View My Content—Portal for ArcGIS | ArcGIS Enterprise I want to confirm that you can publish a CSV as a hosted feature layer in Portal for ArcGIS in order to confirm that the Base ArcGIS Enterprise deployment is sound and working. Thanks, Aravind

Hey Laszlo, Thanks for making a post here. I just wanted to give you an idea of the minimum requirements for Insights for ArcGIS based on what you've provided here for me: 1. Base Enterprise ArcGIS Deployment ArcGIS Server—This ArcGIS Server must be licensed as ArcGIS GIS Server Standard or ArcGIS GIS Server Advanced and configured as the hosting server for your portal. Portal for ArcGIS. ArcGIS Data Store—Upon setup, this should be configured as a relational and tile cache data store. ArcGIS Web Adaptor—One Web Adaptor installation for traffic to your portal and one for traffic to your ArcGIS GIS Server. I would verify if you installed one more web adaptor for ArcGIS Server, since you'd mentioned just Portal for ArcGIS in your notes above. Additionally I'd also verify the following in the Portal for ArcGIS Administrator directory. You can go to this URL: https://<URL to Portal>/WebAdaptorName/portaladmin. After you've logged in as the administrator directory, go to https:///<URL to Portal>/WebAdaptorName/portaladmin/security/oauth/getAppInfo. In the textbox for this page, type "arcgisInsights" and retrieve getAppInfo for this page. This should contain a number of hostnames that the app typically redirects to under the "redirectURIs" parameter. Make sure that your <URLtoPortal> is listed here for both protocols HTTP & HTTPS. If they're not listed, copy the value obtained from getAppInfo and go into updateAppInfo and paste the value in there and specify HTTP://<URLtoPortal> as the value and then save. Now go back to Insights home page and please let me know if you were able to use the app now without the 404 error. Please let me know if these steps worked for you. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Walter, Thanks for posting here! Can you expand with more information about your problem: 1. What version of Insights for ArcGIS? 2. What version of ArcGIS Enterprise are you using? 3. What is the workflow you're performing and what error are you running into? Thanks, Aravind

Hi Stefano, I can confirm that this is a known limitation at Insights for ArcGIS version 2.0. Unfortunately, I don't have a road map for which version this will be addressed, but this will be fixed in future releases. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Salem, Thank you for this post. Do you mind if you can expand a little on the ArcGIS Enterprise environment that you're using: 1. ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5 or 10.5.1? 2. Based on the answer to this above question, you'd need to have the appropriate Insights for ArcGIS version: ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5 supports upto Insights for ArcGIS 1.2.1; ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5.1 supports Insights for ArcGIS 2.0 onwards (Documentation reference: Compatibility with Portal for ArcGIS—Insights web help Use tab | ArcGIS Enterprise). Error 1 could occur during specific workflows. Could you expand on what was the workflow done to cause the "Something went wrong" error? Let's focus on Error 2: 1. The JBDC Driver needed to connect to SQL Server is sqljdbc42.jar. (SQL Server versions supported - 2012, 2014, 2016). 2. Once you've followed the steps to register relational data store types, it's important to remember to restart the ArcGIS Server windows service on the Server machine. 3. Additionally, Insights doesn't support database connections to your Enterprise geodatabase. (Supported databases—Insights web help Use tab | ArcGIS Enterprise ). 4. Also verify that the ports to SQL Server can communicate with ArcGIS Server & Portal for ArcGIS machine. I look forward to your response. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Michael, I apologize for not being able to reply back to you. Thanks for providing me the update to what fixed the issue. Would it be possible to mark your response as the Answer to the Question, so there's some visibility for other folks who might run into the same issue? Thanks, Aravind

Hey Michael, That's the issue. So, to resolve this issue, 1. Unfederate the ArcGIS Server & Portal. 2. Uninstall the web adaptor from the machine. Then, install the web adaptor two times - one named "arcgis" or "server" and "portal". 3. Then register "server" with ArcGIS Server & "portal" to register with Portal for ArcGIS. 4. Re-federate Portal & ArcGIS Server. 5. Setup the hosting server. Please let me know if you can open Insights & create a new workbook after this. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Michael, From the list of steps you've provided to inform us about your Enterprise 10.5.1 stack, you mentioned a web adaptor being configured for Portal & Server. Can you confirm if you have 2 web adaptors installed & registered with Portal & Server separately or do you have just a single web adaptor registered for Portal & Server? Thanks, Aravind

Hi Bob, I've seen this issue once with a user who was adding a KML Layer from Google Drive with the link being registered as an item in Portal. In order to eliminate something similar to corruption, could we re-add each layer in the original webmap individually in a new webmap, save them and then go back out and re-open the map in Map Viewer to see at what point the Save button goes missing? I know this can be cumbersome if you have many layers, but I suspect that there could be one or two layers that have a missing reference in them. Thanks, Aravind

Hello Fabien, I apologize in advance, but I'd like to request a little clarification on the sentence: "My question is: Why do I have to login to Portal if I choose the option 1 and 2? Because if i choose option 3 the result is the same after having embeded: I can view the Insights page as well as if I had chosen option 1 or 2." But, let me clarify what I meant in my previous answer: View your shared page Access your page item The first two options have the URL: portal/apps/insights/#/view/<IDofthePage>. This page forces you to login to Portal for ArcGIS because both these pages allow users to seek the internal Portal documentation links. You can also sign out of Insights by just choosing your profile on the top right. You can also see the Analysis view of the steps that were performed. Most of these require atleast level 1 viewer privileges. Embed (coping the <iframe> code and paste it into the source coude of my website) To circumvent the problem with sharing your results on a page in Insights to other people who're not members in Portal, you can use the embed URL: portal/apps/insights/index.html#/embed/<IDofthePage>. This gives an embed view of the Insights page without a full context of how Insights actually looks like, which allows someone who is not a member in Portal to see it. You cannot sign out of Insights or do any of the operations on an embed view. Hope that explains. Thanks, Aravind

Hello Dirk, So, it seems like you've imported the entitlements, but the admin account you're using doesn't have an Insights license allocated to you. If these steps haven't been performed already, can you do the following: Can you login to Portal home -> My Organization -> Manage Licenses. Choose your Portal Admin user and click Configure on the right. Then see if you have Insights for ArcGIS license assigned to yourself and then hit Update. This is what gives you permission to view Insights. Thanks, Aravind

Hey Dirk, I just confirmed with your customer number on the My Esri site. You should be able to obtain Insights authorization (which is a count of named users in a JSON file) and then import into Portal Administrator directory. Go to My Esri site and perform these steps: Configure Insights for ArcGIS licenses—Portal for ArcGIS (10.5) | ArcGIS Enterprise . Log in to My Esri and click My Organizations > Licensing > Provisioning. On the Provisioning dialog box, specify Product Type as Additional Portal Products. The Version, License Type, and Provision options populate automatically. Click Apply. Review the product information. Choose the number of named users you need in the Allocate column. Click Next. Provide the contact and address information for your organization. Specify the delivery option for your license file. Optionally add a description or note to your request. Click Review File and verify the provisioning information. Click Create File. Depending on the delivery option you specified, the file is available for download immediately or attached to an email for the address specified. You haven't made any allocations from the pool of available licenses so far. So, you should be good to go! Thanks, Aravind

Hey Wellington, I've attempted this very same workflow with a custom .SD file and added this to a folder in the Portal machine and ran the Publish Boundary Layers tools from Portal in command line. It publishes the SD file as a hosted feature layer to Portal, however, it doesn't appear in Insights v1.2.1 as a geography in a workbook and it seems this is not officially supported. So, this enhancement was logged at version 1.1. ENH-000104159 - Support non-Esri boundary layers to be used as geographies in Insights for ArcGIS workbooks. Thanks, Aravind

Hey Chris, Is Insights installed on both Portal & Server, if they are on separate machines? If it is, can you find out if you can publish a feature layer from Create Feature Layer option in My Content in Portal? When you create a new workbook in Insights, it creates a hosted workspace service in the ArcGIS Data Store of the hosting server that you just refederated. So, if you're having workbook issues, I'd recommend making sure you can do this task first to ensure the Enterprise is up and functional. Thanks, Aravind
