Dionisio battad, This is easily doable, especially if a user is only expected to fill out one at a time. Fill out the first section with the shared portion of the survey, then create a select_one question with the label "Do you want to do an operational sampling or long term sampling?" You can then add a choice in your choices list for operational sampling and another for long term sampling. If you want all of the second half to show up at once, make all the operational questions relevant to the answer above (in the relevant column: ${question name of sampling type} = operational), and do the same for long term. Depending on what your user chooses, they'll see either one survey or the other. If you want each question to appear one after the other, you only have to make the first questions following the choice relevant to it - any questions relevant to the question after the choice won't show up until it's been filled out. If it's confusing, map it out with a flow chart and look through an XLSForm guide here: Home And just to be clear - this would require you to republish as a new survey, or at least drop one of your surveys, so your existing data, if you have any, would be effected.

Thanks Khaled, That's really good information to have. I tried to change the value of this using the same method for the views, and the edit didn't take. The views are created through a script, so it wouldn't be a hassle to recreate them, but it would erase a lot of work that went in to the operations dashboard (since recreating the views will change their id). So ideally, we want to change just this property on the view layers. Do you have any advice?

I am trying to update a feature service definition following the process described in this document: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/How-to-Update-Hosted-Feature-Service-Schemas1.pdf?rmedium=bu… Specifically, I am trying to set the sourceSchemaChangesAllowed property to false (and eventually back to true). So in the admin page of my service URL, I go to update definition. I change true to false in the above, and then replace the last edited field with empty double quotes. It returns the following page with no error: But when I go to my feature service again, the change has no been made. This is a similar issue to this Geonet post: Updates in JSON feature service edit not taking. A bug was filed for making the same operation on different fields, with no workaround provided. Is this also a bug, and if so, does anyone have a workaround?

James Tedrick I tried this method (adding fields through the data tab before publishing) on a copy of my survey that had dummy data, views, and an Ops Dashboard and it worked great. But when I went to do it on my real survey, the "Add Field" button was gone from both the table and field views of the Data tab. I also tried adding a field through Pro, and it returned an error (error 000852: Cannot add field <value> to <value> (http://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/tool-reference/tool-errors-and-warnings/001001-010000/tool-errors-and-warnings-00851-00875-000852.htm)). Do you have any idea what could be causing this?

Yes, I was suggesting using text as a workaround, since you said you were able to copy from there (even though it isn't ideal). Then using a calculation would prevent your worry of users accidentally deleting or modifying the text and it being gone.

Doug, I've noticed when basing select_one questions off of a calculation, if the answer is changed a "refresh" button appears that will refresh to the calculated answer when clicked. Maybe you could try to see if this functionality works with text fields also? If it does work, if your users accidentally delete or change text they will have the option to get the original text back. It should be easy to make a calculation display your text (you can always use a tautology as an if() condition). If for some reason you have to add a calculation field for this to work, you can always set the bind type of that field to null and it won't affect your feature service. Again, I haven't tested if this will work, but it may be worth a shot.

To provide an answer to how organizations are dealing with this: My org. is creating a large survey that's been a months long process when you include all of designing, testing, map/view/dashboard making, and field testing. I have been in charge of survey publishing, so the local file on my computer is what is published through Survey123 Connect. However, we retain a "Master" document in a shared drive that allow synchronous editing. When we want to update or just test the survey, I pull a copy of the Master into my survey folder, move the existing copy to a backup folder, and then rename the master to the proper name for Survey123 to read. Of course, this means I have to do all of the version workflow manually. Both the Master and the official survey copy need to be kept up to date, and changes to one need to be "pushed" to the other. But it does allow multiple of us to build out a very large survey while working simultaneously. Obviously, if you go this route, backups and clear communication with your team are vital. It would be great to other solutions to this problem, also. survey123 survey123connect #survey123_versioning

That's strange. I don't have a windows tablet on hand to help, but it shows up in the permissions of my Android tablet and iPhone. Perhaps there's some permission further up the chain that needs to be changed?

Have you allowed Survey123 access to your camera? Under Settings > Privacy > Camera, you will be able to choose specific apps to allow to access the camera. On your iPhone, the app probably prompted you for permission on your first log in.

Thanks for responding Brandon. The issue occurred on both Samsung Galaxy Tab E's and iPhone X's, all of which had the latest updates of Survey123 according to the tech who prepared them. I am not sure how to give more details on the Enterprise environment. When prompted to log in again, we would choose Enterprise Login, and then once we typed in the Enterprise URL we were logged back in - i.e. we did not have to type in individual usernames and passwords to get logged back in. This may be related to default user settings and not the issue at hand, however.

While doing field testing on a survey on Friday, I was having an issue with Survey123 logging me out while I was filling out my survey. When I went to submit a survey, it brought me to the log in page, and once I logged in it submitted the survey as usual. It happened whenever a survey took a little longer to fill out, say ten minutes, and I was using an enterprise account if that makes a difference. This isn't a huge deal since it doesn't seem to effect the submitting of the data, but is there a way to prevent survey123 from logging out, especially while it's in use?
