Hi, I was just wondering but is it possible to use collector to gather data in 3D and have the data systematically be set up (either python script or otherwise) to create 3D scenes on the fly. I am just curious because we are working to hopefully create some really cool models in 3D but just curious to see if it would be possible to generate a 3D scene with data gathered from collector on the fly. Any help or ideas would be really helpful. Thanks, Robert

Hi, I thought it would be nice if Esri could enable users to specify the refresh layers for multiple selected layers or for all layers so that the layers refresh at the same time rather than having to go through each layer individually to establish the refresh rate. Otherwise all the layers refresh at different times which isn't aesthetically pleasing and visually annoying. Thanks, Robert

Hi, I thought it would be a good idea if users could have the ability to name a group of widgets in the WebAppBuilder to be able to name grouped widgets. Anytime you add multiple widgets to a set/group of widgets it simply gives a default name but it would be nice if users could name the group rather than getting a default name.

Hi, I was wondering if it could be made possible to increase the smoothness of the layer refresh drawing rate in web maps and design it so that the layers refresh similar to refresh rates on televisions. So having the layers removed slowly with the older layers on top and the newest updated layers underneath. I think it will help both aesthetically as well as simplifying the layer transitioning. Thanks, Robert

Hi, I was wondering if Esri could enhance the Story Map Journal with the ability to swipe content using highlighted text similar to how you can navigate to different pages in a story map using highlighted text. I think this will allow for further enhancements and expand the Story Map Journal options, giving the Story Map Journal more robust capabilities. Thanks, Robert

Hi, I am trying to test the python add-in tool to create a custom pop-up dialogue box that allows users enter numerical data that is then run through a mathematical equation script. The result then populates a record in a field from a line that is drawn on the map. I don't know if this needs to be configured in the python script or the xml file but any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, on a side note. Is there a way to get the tool, once clicked on, to allow users to draw a line in arcmap. Thanks, Robert

It would be a cool idea if the Story Map Journal had the ability to allow users to highlight text in the Story Map Journal that would allow for certain layers to be swiped off the map.

Thanks Derek, It is helpful but I was really hoping Esri, or someone, could include the option to allow users to have the ability to highlight text and have the map change. Kind of like how it is set up the way users can highlight text to navigate to different portions of the map, but instead be able to swipe a layer in the map. Robert

It would be a great if the layer refresh option allowed for layers to refresh smoother and faster as to accommodate data changes. Similar to how televisions have a refresh rate, it would be nice if the layer refresh could do the same thing.

It's the general refresh on the layers when you select the layer refresh option. I noticed it can only refresh at minimum of 10 seconds but I was wondering if there was a way to update it so that when the layers refreshed, they refreshed faster and more smoothly. Is there a way to accomplish this? If so, would you mind letting me know and if not then I'll wait and see if esri wouldn't mind working on improving it.

Thanks Derek, I wasn't sure which direction Esri was going with their online content and I wasn't sure if they were going to focus merely on one area or branch out into others. Do you also know if some of the story maps are also going to be getting updates. The reason being is because I am very interested to see if they could add some capabilities that I saw in other story maps, such as the swipe story map, and see if they could include that capability in the Story Map journal. I have looked into increasing its capabilities with a few custom additions that I also think would be nice to include. Here is an example of what I have done to the Story Map Journal in terms of custom edits. Hopefully Esri might consider increasing the capabilities of the story maps that they already have. https://cobbcountyga.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapJournal/index.html?appid=30bcfa4e641d410289021b8093486f83 If you wouldn't mind letting me know I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Robert

Does anyone know if Esri is either working on or can work on, improving the refreshing of layers in ArcGIS Online. Online seems to lag the more layers you have in terms of refreshing, but I was wondering if there is by any chance Esri might work on improving the refresh rate. I was thinking they could have it so that the layer refreshes underneath itself every time, kind of similar to a refresh rate on the tv or computer, so that the refresh changes become less noticeable. The transitioning for refreshed layers leaves a gap every time and so if anyone knows if Esri is working on improving the layers refresh rate or can work on it that would be great.

Thanks Nick, I haven't considered that but I will definitely keep that in mind. I tried the set of scripts that you sent me last time and for some reason, when I tested it, I didn't quite get what I was looking for. It didn't change the symbology when it was ran but I think I might have a solution that might allow me to combine parts of the scripts that were posted and see if I can manipulate the script so that only certain symbologies will be drawn so long as the certain conditions remain true. The one you sent about the due dates I think I can reconfigure to set certain boundaries without trying to run to many if then expressions. I will let you know if it works or not. The one you posted the first time worked really well and I think I can build on it and perhaps be able to define the criteria and have it symbolized accordingly. I will post on here if I run into any troubles or if I manage to get the scripts working. Here is the script that you sent me the first time that worked when I tested it. var Edited = Date($feature.EditDate);
if(DateDiff(Now(), Edited, 'hours')<=2){
var Status = 'New';
}
else if(DateDiff(Today(), Edited, 'days')>=0){
var Status = 'Old';
}
else {
var Status = 'Current'
}
return Status So I think this script and parts of the other scripts might be enough for me to run multiple tests and see which other set of scripts should work. I think if I try to combine too many if else-if scenarios then either too many conditions might end up being met or too little. I will let you know if I manage to get it to work. Thanks for all your help.
