Thanks Derek, It is helpful but I was really hoping Esri, or someone, could include the option to allow users to have the ability to highlight text and have the map change. It's the general refresh on the layers when you select the layer refresh option. I noticed it can only refresh at minimum of 10 seconds but I was wondering if there was a way to update it so that when the layers refreshed, they refreshed faster and more smoothly. Is there a way to accomplish this? If so, would you mind letting me know and if not then I'll wait and see if esri wouldn't mind working on improving it. ... View more

Thanks Derek, I wasn't sure which direction Esri was going with their online content and I wasn't sure if they were going to focus merely on one area or branch out into others. Do you also know if some of the story maps are also going to be getting updates. The reason being is because I am very interested to see if they could add some capabilities that I saw in other story maps, such as the swipe story map, and see if they could include that capability in the Story Map journal. I have looked into increasing its capabilities with a few custom additions that I also think would be nice to include. Here is an example of what I have done to the Story Map Journal in terms of custom edits. Thanks Nick, I haven't considered that but I will definitely keep that in mind. I tried the set of scripts that you sent me last time and for some reason, when I tested it, I didn't quite get what I was looking for. It didn't change the symbology when it was ran but I think I might have a solution that might allow me to combine parts of the scripts that were posted and see if I can manipulate the script so that only certain symbologies will be drawn so long as the certain conditions remain true. The one you sent about the due dates I think I can reconfigure to set certain boundaries without trying to run to many if then expressions. I will let you know if it works or not. The one you posted the first time worked really well and I think I can build on it and perhaps be able to define the criteria and have it symbolized accordingly. I will post on here if I run into any troubles or if I manage to get the scripts working. Ok. I wasn't sure how the expressions would work if given those conditions. I guess it mostly has to do with my understanding of how the scripting would work. I thought about it some more this morning and realized the reason that I wasn't able to see anything when I changed the symbology using the scripts; I realized it was on the feature service that we haven't deployed yet but will hopefully get it deployed soon. I tried testing it and I didn't see the changes that I was looking for but then I realized I didn't leave the edits long enough to see any other changes. I'm going to try this again with the scripts but leave it overnight or two to allow the scripts to work. Thanks for your help. If I find something or some way that would account for time zone changes then I'll let you know. That could be something that could be looked into. Oh ok. I was trying to set up the scenario so that anything under two hours would be symbolized as one color but the thing that I want sure I'd is if I wanted to stumble a statement similar to one below: Now() < x < EditDate I was looking to see if I could write a script so that the symbology would change for the in between condition while preserving the other conditions. I just don't want to write the script that ends up satisfying two arguments. If there is a way to achieve this without creating separate conditions that might be satisfied that either leaves a gap or overlaps because I'm not sure if there is or not. I tried using this script below but I cannot say for certain where I am going wrong. I tried modifying the script that you sent me earlier, but it only return two of the values.
