Hello @ErinSanderman Thanks for the additional context on this. Our team is looking into this issue now to see what we can reproduce on our end. Would you be able to hop onto ArcGIS Assistant and download your draft JSON so we can take a look at what your draft looks like at the minute? You can download the JSON file by selecting your item in the My Content tab, Selecting View Item Resources, and then selecting the Download All button. Thanks so much, Abby

Hi @ErinSanderman , I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. Would you be able to provide a screenshot of that blank space in your story where the express map would be? Are you seeing this on Storymaps.com or on your ArcGIS StoryMaps organization's site? Thanks for any details you can provide, Abby

Hi @HelenCooper , I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. Can you give a bit of detail on the history of this uneditable story? Have you ever been able to edit this story? What is its current sharing level? I'd also be curious if you are able to see the StoryMap item in your ArcGIS Organization: Working through a potential recovery process with Esri Support may be your next best step, if you've already attempted using multiple browsers and you've attempted the recovery process mentioned in our recent blog regarding story editing issues. Let me know your thoughts, Abby

Hi @ReneePatrickTrailConsulting, If you change the panel appearance to have a transparent background, then the floating panel will be invisible and you can leave the narrative panel blank. This way, your slide will look like it is solely displaying the image with overlaying narrative panel. Let me know how this works for you! Abby

@HelenCooper , good point, this won't be a solution at its current state for more than a few years. Controlling the map zoom extent could be something you could add to the ArcGIS StoryMaps Ideas page as a suggestion for an enhancement to our product, if you'd be willing to write up a few words about it! Have a good weekend, Abby

Hello @AllanOuko Is this issue occurring with all mp4 files, or one in particular? As a first troubleshooting step, I'd recommend attempting this upload with different mp4s in a few different browsers, like Chrome, Firefox, etc. I would also recommend reaching out to Esri Technical Support to dive into this issue further with an analyst. Best, Abby

@HelenCooper Yes, there's still a bit of time until Web AppBuilder retires, but here's the roadmap for your reference: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/web-appbuilder/announcements/arcgis-web-appbuilder-roadmap-for-retirement/ Let me know how this option works for you if you try it! Thanks, Abby

Hello @HelenCooper , there is not a way to limit map zoom on a web map in StoryMaps. You could embed a web app in StoryMaps with a web map navigation boundary. Check out this tutorial and let me know if you have any questions: https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000024890 Best, Abby

UPDATE: This converter has been enhanced and stabilized since it's initial release. It now also supports classic stories made with the cascade template. Check out this post for updated caveats and support for this tool. If you attended the 2023 Federal GIS Conference earlier this month, you may have seen a sneak peak of an experimental tool that can help convert a story originally created in a classic Esri Story Maps templates to one created in ArcGIS StoryMaps. We know it can take some work to recreate a classic story, so we wanted to make this easier by providing a tool to reduce some of the work involved. This tool comes in the form of an ArcGIS Python Notebook: https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=bc35e93d5d374e1a9c3583be0cc9f1d7 What does it do? There are instructions in the notebook for each step, but essentially you add your classic story ID, optionally reference a theme for the new story, and run the notebook script. The tool is easy to use and will not affect your original classic story. A draft ArcGIS StoryMap will be created that contains the text, media, and maps from your original classic story. The title of the story will be brought over and the content from each section will be added to individual slides of a sidecar. Here's a before and after example of a classic story and the ArcGIS StoryMaps version so you can see the results of running the tool. Before: Classic Series story After: ArcGIS StoryMaps story Considerations A few things to be aware of… This tool currently supports migration of content from some classic Series and Journal stories (We now also support Cascade stories! Check this link for more information). You may have varying levels of success migrating a specific classic story depending on the amount and type of content in the story and if you made any customizations to it. The notebook is meant to provide a starting point. It will help migrate your content to a new story. After that is done, you can expect to have to do some additional work to finalize your story after running the notebook. Once the new story has been created, you can access all the images from the “This story” tab when adding media. This can help if you want to move media around to different places in your story. Please ensure your ArcGIS administrator has assigned you permissions to access ArcGIS Notebooks, otherwise you will be unable to open the Notebook. For more information, see Control notebook user privileges—ArcGIS Notebook Server | Documentation for ArcGIS Enterprise. If you don’t have privileges to use ArcGIS Notebooks, you can download the notebook and run it in a system configured with ArcGIS API for Python. Be sure to add your username and password (and portal URL if running on ArcGIS Enterprise) to the script where indicated. For information on running the notebook locally, see Get started | ArcGIS API for Python Help us improve this tool Please note that this isn’t a supported product; it’s a tool that’s provided as-is that can help save you time and effort in some situations. We are not planning to make regular additions or updates to this tool, but if there is enough generated interest in any particular enhancements to the Notebook, we will consider adding new capability in the future when feasible. We hope the migration helper notebook can be a source of collaboration within the community. If you find items within the script that are not functioning as expected or could be improved, feel free bring up these concerns in the comments below. We hope that community members will work to improve the tool and build on it. Let us know what you think We’d love to hear your feedback about this tool in the comments section below! While it’s not able to magically convert every classic story you have, we do believe the notebook will greatly reduce the time required to remake some of the stories you’re looking to update to ArcGIS StoryMaps. Hi @CeliaClifford , At the minute, the only way to add links in a story is through navigation heading links. I'd recommend adding this to the ArcGIS Ideas page to suggest this feature be added in the future releaes. Thanks, Abby

Hi @GarethPicken , You can create links to individual points by adding navigation links to the story Design and adding a Heading text in each sidecar slide, with each slide zoomed to a particular point. This will create links you can copy and add to your excel that will direct to that point and slide. This will mean that you would need to have a separate slide for each point you want to reference. Are you currently using an express map, or a map originally created outside of ArcGIS StoryMaps? You can quickly create new slides with the Duplicate slide option, and pan/zoom that slide's scale to focus on the respective feature. Let me know if you have further questions on this, Abby

Hi @RyanMarkwart , Based on this description of the Personal Use license, I don't think Experience Builder is included. However, I'd recommend reaching out to Customer Service to confirm there is no package that also includes the application. Let me know if you're able to receive more details from Customer Service! Thanks @xzhou, This is actually a known behavior. The good news is that I can view your content just fine with no errors. Additionally, if you are logged out of your account and view your story, you also won't get an error. It is an issue with caching when embedding content. To workaround this issue, you can either open the story in an incognito browser, clear your browser cache, or wait about an hour for the caching to clear for the issue to disappear. This message will only display on your machine, and only until that cache expires. Others who are visiting your story for the first time, or have initially viewed it over an hour ago will see the story successfully with no hard refresh of the cache required. Let me know if you have further questions on this! Abby
