I used Arc to slice a large raster into smaller tiles for use in a separate in-house programme. Unfortunately when loading the rasters into our programme we get a couple of errors/warnings. The cause of these warnings has been identified as a couple of GDAL tags (the tags relate to nodata value and general metadata). Is there some way to suppress the generation of these GDAL tags when I process the imagery in Arc / arcpy? Sorry if the description is very basic - I am just the GIS tech, not a software developer.

I too get artefacts in my DEMs when using natual neighbours. I have two solutions: 1. Create the DEM at a lower resolution and then resample to a higher res. 2. Use LINEAR interpolation instead. Neither is ideal, 1 can take a few goes to find the low res that eliminates artefacts so I use 2 - fortunately for me this is adequate.

To clarify, the question is about dragging and dopping data into the tool GUI - i.e. once the tool has been saved into a toolbox, not dragging into the model builder window. (thanks for head-up on the group - I'd been browsing through spaces to find somewhere for it)

I'm just starting out using model builder. I have created a tool however, when I use it, the inputs do not allow dragging and dropping of features from the TOC into the tool GUI. Is there a way I can turn on this functionality?

I can't answer the question but you need to think carfully about the bias and what is causing it. Is it because there are more observers on the road or are the animals attracted to the roads, maybe by road-kill or litter. Do shubs/hedges/farms/houses line the roads are these a habitat for the animals? Do roads run through areas that are reletively flat and does this make them more habitable? If you don't have these answers you may just have to accept that the data isn't good enough to tell you what you want. If you do have these answers you may need to employ a proper statistician to help you understand the data.

I think maybe you need to change where you generate the random number. My guess is that at the moment you have something like this: attr myRandNo = rand(0,1) Lot--> split(x){myRandNo:Lot2} What I think you need is something like this: Lot--> split(x){rand(0,1):Lot2} I haven't tested this, it could be nonsense. Alternatively look at the Update Seed tool.

Hai Khadijahnas Thanks, that's helpful, but unless I'm doing something wrong that doesn't import the Definition Query - just the symbology. Now let me have a look at Jayanta's suggestion.........

I'm working with shapefiles. I have various road shapefiles - each shapefile is a different region. I have applied various Definition Queries and set up symbologies for one region - is there a way to automatically apply the same Definition Queries and symbology to every region?

attr opacityVal = 0.5 set(material.opacity, opacityVal) Don't forget this only affects the procedural geometry not the original shapes so you may need to toggle-off the original shapes.

Hi Jake - that's not quite what I'm looking for - I do not want to add any vertices. I only want to add heights from the raster to existing vertices.

Is there a way to automatically set the vertex height of a 3d polyon, line or point to that of an underlying raster?

hmm I thought that was going to work really easily....but... when I preview the map pages in ArcMap the imagery loads automatically, as you said......but... when I export the maps the imagery does not load???

I have over 4500 image tiles. I've become aware that, in some places, adjacent tiles do not match tone/colour. So I'd like to create a plan of each tile together with its 8 adjacent tiles so I can quickly flick through each plan and hopefully pick up where the edges do not match. As far as I can tell, when creating a map book I have to have all layers pre-loaded into Arc - clearly I cannot do this with 4500 images - (I can load about 80 before Arc keels over). So, is it possible to automatically load-in and load-out the relevant tiles as the maps are automatically produced - (they are not in a single folder....they are in many sub folders based on easting/northing)? Is there another/better method for finding subtle mismatches between adjacent images?
