OK, thanks, seems to work if I use the Add data button. I usually just drag stuff in from the catalogue or Windows explorer.👍

Should I be able to load VMap in ArcMap Desktop 10.2? The catalogue recognises it, but when I try to drag it into my main window ArcMap crashes, no error, just closes. Am I doing something wrong?

The number of segments seems to be related to the size of the circle - bigger circle, more segments.

When using shapefiles it seems that lines drawn as arcs are automatically converted to densified line. Is there a way to change the fidelity of this conversion i.e. I want the resulting line to have more vertices, as shown in the image below.

I have set a reference scale of 12,500,000. Map map looks nice - the styles have a nice fine fidelity. But the symbols in the legend are really chunky - like they were draw with fat felt-tips. How do I fix this so the styles look the same in the legend and on the map.

Use comp(f) to separate the prism into its component faces and then set each face to a different colour Prism-->
comp(f){top:Red | bottom:Green | front:Blue | back:Yellow | left:Magenta | right:Cyan}
Red-->color(1,0,0)
Green-->color(0,1,0)
etc....

Ah yes, this would be the correct answer but I forgot to say I'm using 15.2 so don't have the flat top option when extuding. I did try going down this route but I also found I couldn't get the scopes of each half of the roof to align so that when I did the splits the chimney appeared at the same end on each side (I'm sure it's possible but too much bother without being able to get flat tops). So anyway, for now I've just moved the chimney in-board by half a metre to prevent flickering faces.

Is there a way of removing the bottom part of my chimney (marked with red X on attached) so it conforms exactly to the shape of the gable roof?

With that argument don't you end up needing four tools: Project for going from a geographic coord system to a projected one Reproject for changing between projected systems Unproject for going from a projected system to a geographic one and one, that I can't think of a name for, for switching between geographic systems

I think Define Projection is a good name, it's the Project tool that should be renamed to something like Reproject.

I get a similar problem. It happens to polygon features that represents road markings, so the geometry can be quite long and thin but otherwise unremarkable - no errors being picked up by Repair Geometry - BUT, it only occurs when I have an additional empty layer in the TOC.

I'd suggest that the yellow shape is using the scope of the original shape - try sticking in an alignScopeToGeometry before the roofShed line.
