The Mark Correct button isn't working in my browser (Timothy Hales [Firefox 17.0.6]) but thank you, that works for me.

Yes, thanks, I could use those tools but I don't see how to access them via Python - is it possible?

Is there a tool (or workflow) available in Python that will move a shapefile to a new geographical location according to delta X, delta Y parameters (like what Shift_management does to rasters)? I have Arc 10.2 Intermediate. I am aware of the Move tool in ET GeoWizards but unfortunately I do not have a licensed version so it's not available to me in Python (and I have no prospect of licensing it, or any other tool). I ask because I have a template shapefile (at 0,0) which contains an array of points and I want to copy and move this template into around 6000 new locations. The template shapefile contains around 250 points.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't really use the toolbox, I've never learnt my way around it. I always use the search tab and as far as I can tell there are no options to limit search results to available tools (and how can I pester my boss to get a licence upgrade if I never see what I'm missing out on).

It would also be helpful if the offline help told me what licence level each tool requires. My Arc machine is offline so I use the offline help to copy and paste python snippets (and because sometimes it's easier than switching machine and searching again).

When I run this tool it doesn't usually finish - I just get the egg timer symbol and I wait and wait. Eventually I get bored and restart Arc at which point I usually find that my rasters have successfully been added to the mosaic ("oh yeah, I remember now....this always happens"). Anyway, I've never had any problems using python - you could try that.

Hi, I get different results from a SetNull operation when I run it in a python script compared to a python toolbox. The inputs are exactly the same and the scripts are the same except one has been converted into a python toolbox. My input is a raster made up of ones and zeros, I then use SetNull to set the zeros to nulls - I then use RasterToPolygon so I get a shape where all the ones were. In the python script this runs correctly. However, in the python toolbox the output of the SetNull initially looks correct but if I go into symbology and turn on 'all other values' I can see that instead of nulls the zeros are either still zero or have value= -128. This means that when the RasterToPolygon runs I get unwanted shapes which screws up the rest of the script. So my question is - Has anyone else experienced anything like this, is it likely to be a bug in the tool, or could it be my scripting error?

I have a python script that, as part of the code, separates raster bands and then uses Con to identify black pixels; like this: MyRaster = r"MyRaster.tif"
redband = MyRaster + "\Band_1"
greenband = MyRaster + "\Band_2"
blueband = MyRaster + "\Band_3"
BlackPixels = Con (((Raster(redband)==0 & (Raster(greenband)==0.................. However, I'm now trying to make this script into a python toolbox but the bands are not being recognised; like this: def getParameterInfo(self):
inRaster = arcpy.Parameter(
displayName="input raster",
name="inraster",
datatype=["GPRasterLayer","DERasterDataset"],
parameterType="Required",
direction="Input")
.......
return [inRaster]
def execute (self,parameters,messages):
MyRaster = parameters[0].valueAsText
redband = MyRaster + "/Band_1"
greenband = MyRaster + "/Band_2"
blueband = MyRaster + "/Band_3"
BlackPixels = Con (((Raster(redband)==0 & (Raster(greenband)==0.................. I get following message RuntimeError: ERROR 000732: Input Raster: Dataset MyRaster.tif/Band_1 does not exist. What am I doing wrong?

I'm sure there was an old post on here from a few years ago that answered this question. Fairly sure the answer was no - couldn't find it and I'm not sure if the answer is likely to have changed - this article is the only thing I could find: python – Use Esri CityEngine features external code – | The Answer Web

I think you also need to use NOT LIKE instead of <> so the percentage sign works in the second part. sqlprikaz = "Layer LIKE '%PLOCH%' AND Layer NOT LIKE '%_'"
