Hi Sameh,  Not all Text Symbol properties are applicable to text that are a subset of specific layer elements such as Table Frames, Legends, Grids,  Scale Bars, Scale Bars, Rectangle and Polygon Text elements. The text associated with these elements "live" within space defined by the element, such as a cell in a Table Frame. The Text Symbol properties were originally designed for the text itself and the portion properties were designed for the font envelope. They are agnostic to the specialized space that text may reside in, such as a cell in a table frame.  Fortunately, many of the text symbol properties "just work" for these specialized, layout specific contexts. However, vertical alignment is not one of them. Vertical alignment only works within the envelope of the font. It has no effect on the placement of the text element in relation to anything outside the envelope of the font, such as a table frame cell. We understand the desire to do what you want to do with the text. Not only for table frames, but for other elements such as legends.  This is an enhancement we hope to get to in a future release.  As a work around you can use the Offset Y property on each Heading text to place the text within the cell. Of course this has some downsides as it is not efficient and it may not work well if the text changes. However, it is something that may provide a short-term solution. Hope this helps,  Tom ... Hi Yusef,  I believe you are running into a bug. Currently there is no option to set word wrapping on Layer name. However, if you set word wrapping on a legend item's Descriptions the layer name also gets wrapped - this is the bug. Layer names should not be wrapped (since there is no option to wrap them). In your case it looks like you have word wrapping on for both items Descriptions. Since it appears you have no descriptions to wrap I would suggest turning off this option. Hope his helps, Tom ... Hi Pam,  Previewing "geography" only works with map and layers, which are geographic. Layouts, on the other hand, are in "page space" and do not have a geography.  I believe you are looking for a preview of what the layout looks like. This can be done as part of the layout's metadata. You can create a thumbnail image of the layout by opening a view of the layout (the layout needs to draw first), then right-clicking the layout in the Contents pane and clicking Create Thumbnail.  This will create a thumbnail image of the layout that can be viewed in the Metadata tab. You can also edit the layout's metadata to import your own images to be used. Hi Devon,  Yes, there could be other reasons for the crash than having empty/null text elements. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any specific case other than the issue with text. Can you contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. Hi Aaron,  Currently the layout legend does not provide the option to not display the patches. This is true for all layer symbology, not just for chart symbols.  The current workflow for scenario like this is to convert the legend to graphics and manage the graphics accordingly. Converting to graphics does break the live link to the map and the layer's symbology. Please feel free to add an enhancement request to the Ideas site. The second issue you describe is likely a bug. All,  Currently, we are only aware of a crash on export when the layout contains a empty (null) text element. This issue is in out bug tracking system as BUG-000144582. We have a fix for this and are looking to have it available with the 2.9.1. If you believe that the issue you are running into is different - PLEASE contact support. They are MUCH better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data.
