Hi, This is expected. Unlike labeling in the map, there is no labeling "engine" when it comes to grid labels. Each grid draws independently. When you have more than one grid drawing for a map frame you will need to offset one of the grid's labels with a different value than the labels of the other grid to avoid overlap. The label offset value is set in the Component tab of the grid element pane. Additional information about working with grid components, such as the labels, can be found under the help topic for each grid type. Graticules, Measured Grids, MGRS grids, Reference grids and Custom grids. Hope this helps, Tom

Hi Greta, I'm currently not aware of any known issues like the one you describe above. I did a quick manual test and was unable to reproduce the issue. The problem you are running into may be specific to your graphics/workflow. Unfortunately, without more specific information I can't effectively troubleshoot this issue. Can you contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Thanks for the feedback, Tom

Hi jmaxwell_braun, Thanks for the feedback. This is a known issue. We are currently working on a fix that we hope to have available in a 3.0 service patch. For tracking purposes you can use the following bug ID - BUG-000150818. Thanks for bringing this to our attention and sorry for the inconvenience! Hi Sandeep, Sorry you're running into this. I'm unaware of any known issue with version 3.0 where "New Column" is not working. I did a very quick manual test and was unable to reproduce the issue you describe. It is likely that the issue you are seeing is particular to the legend settings you have (such as the fitting strategy) and quite possibly the layer structure (such as the inclusion and make up of group layers). It is important to know these particulars in order to reproduce and fix the issue. Can you contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Thanks for the feedback! Tom

Hi Michele, I'm not aware of any general crash when grouping graphic text elements in either a map or a layout. I installed 2.8 and was unable to reproduce a crash. It is likely that the crash is specific to your workflow/data. In order to troubleshoot we would need more information. I did a quick search of the bugs listed as fixed for the latest 2.8 service patches. I did not see anything specific to grouping text. However, many times crashes get fixed in one part of the software that affects another part. It's possible that this crash got fixed in a service patch. I would recommend installing the latest patch. This is something that might also have been fixed in 2.9 or 3.0. However, this is just speculation. Updating the software may solve the issue and it may not. The only way to be sure is to get a reproducible case that we can test in-house. Can you contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Hope this helps, Tom

Hi Neil, Your assumption is correct. When legend synchronize with map "New layer" option is checked a new legend item should appear in the the Contents pane under the Legend node. It is possible that the legend item does not display in the actual legend on the layout. This will occur if the default legend item has the Feature Display Options "only show features visible in the map extent" option checked. When I run a simple scenario a new legend item is added to the legend when the "New layer" option is checked. I'm unaware of any known issues concerning this functionality. The problem you are running into may be specific to your data/workflow. Can you contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Thanks, Tom

Hi FahringerB, Yes, the map frame constraint is disabled for a map frame that drives a map series. This is expected since the extent is driven by the index feature. However, if you are using a version of Pro newer than 2.5 you should be able to: 1. Activate the map frame - you need to activate the map frame in order to interact with anything that is in "map space" like feature and annotation layers. 2. Pan & zoom the map and edit annotations & commit changes 3. Once you commit you changes deactivate the map frame 4. Refresh the map series Refreshing the map series should take you back to the original map extent for the active map series page. If you want to zoom & pan the layout page with an active map frame is active press the 1 key while navigating. Otherwise you will be navigating in the map. Hope this helps, Tom

Hi Jimmy, BUG-000121263 is specific to the control in the Text Symbol pane. It states "The vertical alignment in Text Properties of a new layout does not work in ArcGIS Pro." Text Symbol properties were originally designed for text (labels, annotation) and not necessarily for a layout "paragraph" text element. These properties work within the bounding box of the font itself. They are not designed to also recognize the "extent box" of the layout element as well. Most properties transfer pretty well to a layout text element - but not all do. In order to avoid confusion we disabled this control. It probably never should have been enabled in the first place. I understand that you want this capability and that disabling the control is not the ideal solution. That is why I recommended adding comments to Allow Rectangle Textbox to Grow/Shrink and Vertically Justify Text or adding a new post on the Ideas site. Adding this capability probably requires a separate control that specifically handles the extent of the layout text element separate from the Text Symbol font. Sorry for any confusion my earlier comments may have caused. I hope this clears things up. I'll pass these comments along to the Team Lead. Tom

Hi ccowin_odfw, Sorry you are running into problems using the custom grid. I believe you are running into - BUG-000141980 Custom grids have poor performance when the visibility of edge is selected, and behave unexpectedly when Map Series is applied. If you are not using this map in a map series - that is the map extent is not going to change - I would recommend converting the grid labels to graphics and removing those you do not want by hand until this issue is addressed. We do hope to resolve in the near future. Thanks for the feedback. Tom

Hi JenMar, You can turn off specified table frame fields by clicking the checkbox next to the field in the Contents view. Unchecking the box will "turn off" the field. You could also remove the field entirely using the Delete command on the table frame field context menu (select the field and right-click to bring up the menu). For more information on how to work with the table frame please see Add and modify table frames. There is also a tutorial Work with a table frame. Hope this helps, Tom

Hi Alex, I assume that you are using Custom grids. The labels are determined by the intersection of the features you are using for the grid with the edges of the map frame. If a feature intersects the map frame multiple times you will get multiple labels. Currently, the dynamic visibility of these labels can only be controlled for each edge. This may be useful if your map is rotated. If not, then the only other option is to convert the grid to either graphics or to features and manually remove the duplicates. No an ideal solution, but a workaround. I'm not aware of any enhancement request for this or a post on ArcGIS Ideas. Please feel free to post a request for this enhancement there if you like. Thanks for the feedback. Tom

Hi Barbara, To maximize performance, after all some tables have hundreds of fields, table frames will display up to the first 10 fields when the table frame is first inserted onto the layout. You can add additional fields or remove fields using the context menu off the table frame element in the Contents pane. Here is the relevant from the help topic https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/layouts/add-and-modify-table-frames.htm: Here is a screenshot of the Table Frame context menu with the Add Field option highlighted. Hope this helps. Tom
