Hi All,  I would like to suggest the implementation of a button within the ArcMap options where the user is able to clear the recent maps list of its items. I have found using the 'help' that we can clear this list with the Registry Editor, but as a user within a company I do not have this permission, and I assume many other users would also struggle with permissions. Can ESRI create a simple button that we can reset the 'recent maps' area to be empty.... The reason I ask, is because I recently created some new templates for myself, and saved them into the template directory so they will act as templates (obviously), but now every time I load ArcMap they appear in my Recent files list, which is not a good idea as I can accidentally (if not paying attention) load the template and edit that, instead of loading it as a template, which forces me to save as a new map... So basically what I am hoping to achieve is to export my PDF (the pdf exported will look just like what is shown on ArcGIS Desktop), but when you open the PDF, the end user can toggle on and off the layers from within the PDF.... See the adobe website for an example. AutoCAD has been doing this for a few years, and I would love to know how to do it in ArcGIS. ... View more

When I have my aerial photography on, I  like my property boundaries to be a bright yellow color, it is clear and easy to see when printed. But when I switch the aerial photography off, It is very hard to see the yellow lines on the white background, so when imagery is off the property boundaries are black. I would love to see an option so that the map switches the colors of a layer automatically, depending on wether another layer is toggled on and off. Currently my work around (its annoying because I have duplicate data) is to group the Aerial Photograph and my Property layer with symbology being yellow, then duplicate this property layer with black outlines (outside of the group), and this way I have to tick either the group on, OR tick the single property layer... its rather annoying when you are toggling all day ... When creating a new feature like a sewer manhole I am having to sort my attributes by a field i have called "GIS_NUMBER", then find the last used number, than manually enter the next sequential number for my new attribute. I think the GIS should be able to automatically enter a number in a field based on some simple inputs in the create feature template. I am having to do this same thing for many many feature classes, and think it could be easily fixed. Cheers ... View more

Hi All, I have created my arcScene model with buildings at our local airport being a polygon feature class, and i used the 'Build_Height' attribute to project each building as 3D. Now to create the observation point (point feature class) I am snapping to the top edge of one of the building (ie. the observer is standing on the top of one of the buildings) but when i click with snapping on, it seems to have worked, but the point is actually at elevation 0.0m I am wondering, am I creating the point incorrectly? Is there a setting i should be using to leave this point on top of my building rather than shooting back down to zero? Cheers ... View more
