Hello Paul, Thank you for submitting this idea. Since the runtime geodatabase in Collector is a replica of the original dataset, it would be best to do all you can to troubleshoot the sync failure before resorting to the Copy Runtime Geodatabse to File Geodatabase tool. While this tool can be very useful to convert your seemingly unsyncable data to a usable format, there are some things to keep in mind when using it: The replica will remain open on the service, and it will take additional workflows to bring your data from a file geodatabase back into the service. A file geodatabase does not keep a record of deletes that were done in the runtime geodatabase. The runtime geodatabase uses archiving and a more elaborate table structure to record adds, updates, and deletes. The Copy Runtime Geodatabase to File Geodatabase tool will maintain the current view of the data, which means only adds and updates will be copied over. When reaching out to technical support for sync issues, try to keep in mind what kinds of edits were done before the sync failure. What geometry and attribution was being collected? Was the field worker doing only adds, only updates, only deletes, or a combination of editing? Were attachments being collected, if so, how many per feature? Did the device freeze or reboot unexpectedly, or was it dropped? The Copy Runtime Geodatabase to File Geodatabase tool should be used sparingly due to the concerns listed above. If anyone voting for this idea has other scenarios where you need to grab the data from your device, please comment to share your use case. Thanks, Scott

Hello Darin, Thank you for submitting this idea. Based on your description, it sounds like you are looking for collection continuity based on the last vertex dropped. As it currently stands, this option is only available after collecting a point feature. After collecting one of your line features, it gives the same option, but in this context you are not looking to copy the entire geometry, just the final vertex. Is this correct? There is another idea that you may be interested in supporting, Enable feature snapping in Collector App. This idea is a little more general than what you've outlined, where data connectivity could potentially be addressed by the introduction of snapping in Collector. Thanks, Scott

Hello Shelby, Thank you for submitting this detailed idea! It looks like you want the ability to limit the types of editing (add/update/delete) on an individual feature layer, while maintaining separate editing permissions on a related table in the same service. Is this correct? If so, I believe https://community.esri.com/ideas/11463 is the other idea referenced in your previous comment. Please consider supporting this other idea if it sounds similar to the functionality you're looking for. Also, consider leaving a comment to share your use case and how this idea would help your projects. Thanks, Scott

Hello Larry, Thank you for submitting this idea. Could you clarify what about Survey123's functionality you would like to see in Collector? Do you want Collector to recognize the forms created and used by Survey123? Do you want to be able to configure https://community.esri.com/ideas/9131, where the app offers more logic and control over which fields are shown? When supporting this idea, please consider sharing your workflows or use cases that would be affected. Thanks, Scott

Hello Larry, Thank you for submitting this idea. The bug you referenced (BUG-000086198) is rejected due to the way the services have been registered with ArcGIS Online to store credentials. Collector can successfully consume secure ArcGIS Server feature services that have been added as an item when it is the full service that was registered with ArcGIS Online (ex. https://myserver.esri.com/arcgis/rest/services/securedService/FeatureServer). It looks like the bug was logged with a workflow that registers individual feature layers as items in ArcGIS Online (ex. https://myserver.esri.com/arcgis/rest/services/securedService/FeatureServer/0). The explanation on why the second example will not work is because the createReplica operation used for sync in Collector is at the higher level /FeatureServer/. Are you able to add the secure service as an item again to your content in ArcGIS Online, using the less specific URL? Do you encounter the same errors when doing this? Thanks, Scott

Hello Jennifer, Thank you for submitting this idea. Could you expand upon how you've set your symbology for these features? Was the symbology defined when publishing the feature service, or in the web map? Could you provide some screenshots showing the difference between large and small scales in Collector and Explorer? Generally, these apps should be using the "drawingInfo" of a layer to define the appearance of symbols. For example: {"drawingInfo":{"renderer":{"type":"simple","symbol":{"type":"esriSMS","style":"esriSMSCircle","color":[133,0,11,255],"size":4,"angle":0,"xoffset":0,"yoffset":0,"outline":{"color":[0,0,0,255],"width":1}},"label":"","description":""},"transparency":0,"labelingInfo":null}} This should be consistent across scales, regardless of how far you've zoomed in or out. If the symbols are behaving as you've described, it's something we would like to better understand to ensure it is addressed. Thanks, Scott

Hello Joe, Thanks for submitting this idea. Could you expand on your data model where multiple layers are pointing to the same feature class? What information exists in your feature class? How are you building your definition queries for each distinct layer? When collecting new features, is it possible that a record can be added to layer 1, but have attribution that places it under layer 2? This is a complex topic, so any additional clarification on your workflows and how this change would improve them will help us better approach this idea. Thanks, Scott

Hello Nick, First we can cover the potential for replicating a hosted feature service to an enterprise geodatabase: While it could be possible to replicate a hosted feature service to your enterprise geodatabase, there is not currently a supported/documented workflow. It may be possible through a script and use of the sync workflow. The createReplica operation can be used to generate JSON of the data, which could then be dumped into the enterprise geodatabase. The replica will persist on the hosted feature service, so edits on both ends can continue to be synced. This would be quite an undertaking in Python, but it is definitely something to consider if you must go that way. If you're interested in going down this rabbit hole we can definitely talk about this in more detail. The second topic would be the recording of "Esri_Anonymous" as the identity for editor tracking: "Esri_Anonymous" is the identity that is used when a service is unsecured. If the service is secured, then users will be prompted for credentials when accessing the service, and the credentials provided (in your case Active Directory) will be used as the identity. Another caveat about this workflow is Collector and it's use of the identity. The authentication tier for your ArcGIS Server should be GIS-tier (as opposed to web-tier) so Collector can interact properly with your ArcGIS Server and pass the identity of field workers. GIS-tier authentication is token based, and Active Directory can still be used as the user store and role store. With GIS-tier, ArcGIS Server will check the credentials and issue a token for valid users. Web-tier authentication is handled by the web server (IIS or Java), so it acts as more of a gatekeeper. This configuration may be ideal for Single Sign-On workflows in web browsers and other clients, but isn't the best option when looking at editor tracking in Collector. When you configure GIS-tier authentication and secure these services for use through Collector, you will see two credential prompts in the app. The first is to ArcGIS Online, the user needs to verify they are a part of your organization so they can view the web maps you've set up. The second prompt will be when they open the web map. This will verify they are allowed to view the secure feature service, but most importantly, they are providing that identity to be recorded for editor tracking. If they are using these maps offline, they should only have to provide the ArcGIS Server credentials when they first download the map and when they sync, because those will be the only times they are interacting with the service (and needing a token to prove they are who they say they are). If any of this information is unclear, let me know! There's a lot of moving parts when it comes to Web GIS and I'd like to make sure everyone that comes across this issue is able to get what they need out of this conversation. Thanks, Scott

Hello Carl, The new email question available on the website is a text question with a regular expression specified in the constraints to check for a valid email address. I was able to download a survey created on the website to examine this and found the following regular expression: regex(.,'^(([^<>()\[\]\\.,;:\s@"]+(\.[^<>()\[\]\\.,;:\s@"]+)*)|(".+"))@((\[[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}])|(([a-zA-Z\-0-9]+\.)+[a-zA-Z]{2,}))$') If you are familiar with regular expressions and would like to tweak this at all, this site is a good resource with examples and their expected outcomes. Thanks, Scott

Hey Johan, The custom URL scheme appears to be blocked in email clients on Android. This behavior could extend to the document you tried using as well, depending on the workflow used. Were you able to create a website maintaining the URL of your survey? What is the behavior you see in the document you attempted to use? Pop-ups will work in Collector, as App Links are supported in a Custom Attribute Display. HTML can be used in a Custom Attribute Display, and the arcgis-survey123:// scheme will be recognized by Collector. Thanks, Scott

Hello Anastasia, I've encountered this as well, and it appears to be a security measure on Android devices when attempting to open custom URI schemes through email clients. I was able to successfully open a public survey on Android by creating and hosting an HTML document where the URL is placed in an anchor tag. My HTML example contains an anchor that looks something like this: <a href="arcgis-survey123://?itemID=541417be9a43421db432bc6adxxxxxx">Click here to open a public survey</a> This issue is Android specific, and from my testing it occurs in native email clients as well as web clients. If you are able to host a webpage using the workaround above, it can be shared to distribute a public survey for use on Android devices. Thanks, Scott

Hello All, Thank you for submitting and discussing this idea. As Tyson stated, the behavior of the keyboard is to give the ability to search through large sets of domains. Edward, Duncan, and Jeff, how many domains on average do you have in your feature layers? Do you find that even with large domain choices you are not using the search? Could you see the search benefiting some of your projects, or does the design of your data avoid large domain choices? Thanks, Scott

Hello Odd, Thank you for submitting this idea! This is similar to the existing idea https://community.esri.com/ideas/5062, but that idea appears to pre-date Collector for ArcGIS so I will not mark this as a duplicate. Could you provide a use case or an example of a scenario where this idea would benefit your field work? What kind data are you working with, and how will you be grouping it? How many layers are contained in your web maps? What related tasks will you or your users be able to accomplish more efficiently if this were implemented? Please consider commenting to share your own perspectives when voting for this idea. Thanks, Scott
