Jennifer's response (click Map View tab to make it have focus) was the answer in my case.

Use Case: Our organization has been using Collector to create new layers for various assets. While the field crew is adding features, they sometimes find that the asset requires future repairs. It would be nice to have a "check-box list" attribute of repair options that could be parsed out later (and I'm thinking imported into Workforce for ArcGIS). Right now the workaround is creating multiple separate Boolean attributes (T/F) that represent each repair type.

Aside from the named user login consideration that Rebecca mentioned, here are 2 big things ArcGIS Server has that ArcGIS Online does not [currently] offer: Dynamic Map Services, allowing for better cartography when compared to hosted feature services. Though this may change, as it is now marked as "Under Consideration" in Ideas. With dynamic map services via ArcGIS Server, you can essentially make the web map look like an ArcMap document. Individual layers can be turned on/off on-the-fly, and you can use the Maplex labeling engine. Spatial views that can link feature classes with business tables, either in an enterprise geodatabase or external database. This allows "live updates" to the data. I don't think you can do that with ArcGIS Online or Portal / Data Store hosted feature services, and you definitely can't do it with a cache/tile service. Though spatial views may become less necessary as external business systems are transitioned into the cloud as well. Keep in mind: ArcGIS Server map services can be added to ArcGIS Online web maps. This offers you the additional functionality of AGS within AGO apps.

I'd be curious to hear feedback about this question as well, especially in light of the 10.5 "Register with Database" options that are now available. I'm still working primarily with ArcMap 10.2.2/10.3 and SQL Server 2008 R2. Generally speaking 1:1 relationships work pretty well in spatial views. One source of problems that I have encountered when joining external databases is when you attempt 1:M scenarios. The "Tax Database" (external business database) lacks an Esri-recognized ObjectID. When you create a view between an Enterprise geodatabase feature class (which has ObjectID) with an external business database (no ObjectID) you will encounter odd results, at least in ArcMap. The attribute table may display the correct number of total records, but when you attempt selections and click "show only selected results" you will only see 1 record returned when there is a 1:M happening. The attribute table will even tell you you have multiple features selected but only 1 will display. I worked with Esri tech support on this and they did end up creating a bug related to this problem that is still open: #BUG-000086132 The Select By Location tool does not return expected results when a table contains a join. ** ** Though the description is partially misleading - it should read "The Select By Location tool does not return expected results when querying a spatial view that contains Enterprise geodatabase feature class and external business database table." To get around this, I have explored ETL methods to truncate/append the data of interest into the Enterprise geodatabase. This creates an ObjectID, and then the spatial views work properly. Unfortunately, this solution does not allow for live data, and also creates redundant copies of data. Although a bit dated, this thread offers more discussion.

I look forward to this answer as well, Level 1 "read-only" would be very helpful for us. They redesigned the AGO pricing page, but no word on Levels yet.

This is an absolute necessity for my organization as well. Especially the web maps - I don't know if there is a way to back them up at all. There are crude ways to backup feature services and apps right now, but some sort of one-stop backup/restore interface would be very helpful.

I have seen a somewhat similar problem while testing vector tiles. The tiles disappear at certain zoom levels - see attached zoning map image where there are large blank gaps. Vector tiles published via Pro 1.3.1. In our case, the problem is evident on 3 browsers (Chrome, Firefox and IE 11) and on different PCs. Our PCs are anywhere from 2-4 years old (Win7, Dell, Intel Xeon 3.6GHz, 16GB RAM). I have not determined if it is a data problem, but at other zoom levels the tiles display fine.

I think this is one of the biggest limitations of AGO right now. At the very least, adding the ability to set a "default - first popup" would be helpful.

When you configure the "Search" WAB widget to search custom layer attributes, there is currently no setting to "sort the results." This option does exist in the "Query" WAB widget. Please consider including it in "Search." See attached images for reference.

A few little modifications would be make this widget perfect: Allow a user to hit Enter on keyboard after they fill in their "attribute criteria" in the query box. Currently the only option is to click the "Execute" button. Once the query results are shown, include a button to allow user to "restart the query" from the beginning. This would be similar to Robert Scheitlin's Flex Viewer enhanced search. See attached pics for examples. Right now they have to click the Tasks tab and then back arrow(s) to restart, which is not optimal for novice users.

We have a scenario where this requirement prevents us from using WAB maps on some user devices: Our Web AppBuilder code is downloaded and hosted locally and it is referencing our local ArcGIS Server map services via fixed IP addresses. The required Web Map is hosted on AGO. On devices with limited restrictions, this architecture works and they are able to view our maps when authenticated with a VPN client. One department has heavy restriction requirements in their VPN client, and they are not able to get it to work with the changing IP addresses of the Amazon webservice-hosted AGO Web Map. (Apparently IT is trying to troubleshoot this with the VPN client manufacturer - who has stated that support for that would come in a "future version"). Our managers do not want to implement a local Portal for ArcGIS at this time, so it is AGO-hosted web map or nothing. As a result, the users in this department can't use our web maps. If the WAB did not require the "authentication" through a Web Map, I assume it would work on these problematic devices.

Does anyone know if it is possible to prevent web clients from caching tiles locally for ArcGIS Online hosted raster tile layers? This is possible in an ArcGIS Server cached map service (see attached pic) and has always worked great. My scenario ~ I have a hosted tile layer on AGO and was able to successfully update it with modified tiles. The old (not updated) tiles remain when viewing the tile layer in standard Google Chrome via an AGO web app. This was also true after a restart of Chrome and a restart of the computer. The only way to get the new, updated tiles to appear was to either clear the browser cache or run in incognito mode. I have not tested other browsers, but I suspect they will behave the same. Thanks! web tiled layertile service update cache map service cache

Yes, it may be the result of the older version. I was using the AGO-hosted WAB and it works fine there with "0" as the buffer.

I was looking for similar functionality as well. Today I discovered the "Near Me" widget within the Web AppBuilder that might do the trick for you while waiting for a possible enhancement that might allow this at the Web Map level. If you set the buffer default and max to "0" it behaves like a popup click. The candidates are summarized in the initial table view.
