Very strange that it got through. I would have built in January/February 2017. I just did a quick test and got a pop-up message warning me. If you click to continue it will still let you publish the survey. I would have developed the survey in question on my Mac laptop, and would have been using Numbers instead of Excel. Not sure if the pop up message works on an XLSX file opened in Numbers, as I wouldn't have ignored it if it did pop up.

Thanks James, this has also impacted by a known bug (BUG-000101992) that won't let you update the schema of a hosted feature layer in AGOL. You can do it through the rest endpoint, but the update doesn't take effect. If we could catch the hyphens (or any other restricted characters) before we publish that would be great. The thing about a rookie's mistake is that you are only allowed to make them once, I'm not confident that I won't make the same mistake late one Friday afternoon!

Hi all, so I managed to solve the problem. I had a '-' symbol in two of my field names. This is an illegal character, but Connect doesn't pick it up when you save your XLSX form. This doesn't seem to be an issue for CSV, SHP formats or a Hosted Feature Layer in AGOL. I have removed the symbol and republished as a new version and i'm able to download as a fGDB without any problem. Unfortunately I cannot update the existing survey as it wipes the data (tested this on a new version just to be safe - good move!), so if anybody has any tips on updated an attribute name in a hosted feature layer that would be great! Thanks for the advice. Cheers Dan

Hi Joe, I'm also having the problem using this method. Just realised that I forgot to mention it in my initial comment.

Hi All, I have been trying to download a survey as a fGDB but I just get a "failed to download" error message (See below). The form has repeats and the ability to upload images, hence why I need to download it as a fGDB. I am able to download this survey as a shapefile and as a CSV (although not helpful for the photo attachments or the linked tables). I initially thought that this may have been a bug in Survey123's web portal or AGOL, but I am able to download fGDB for other surveys that have both attachments and repeats. Anybody have any idea what may be the cause of this or how I can solve/work around it? It would be most appreciated I assure you!

Hi all, Just wondering if there are any plans to introduce a "reading mode" for survey123. We have had a bit of feedback from our field teams saying that glare has been a bit of an issue for them at times. Whilst most of this has to do with their choice of tablet, it did get me to thinking about a "Dark" option that users can toggle, rather than just whatever we pre-can for them.

I assumed this wasn't a "Yeah, cool, we will be pushing that out at version X.XX" and that it would be something that would require quite a bit of engineering work to make happen! Good to know that it is something that people are thinking about. It would be very useful for us as Australia is massive and sparsely populated; meaning that most of the field work my agency does has no data coverage at all.

Thanks for that Stephen, I will look into the console and try using it to debug. We have had this problem with Windows, Android and iOS. We are trying to upload from surveys that have attachments and surveys that do not. We are completely in ArcGIS Online. Thanks, Dan

So I have been looking into setting up .tpk files for our field teams, and one of the things that I have realised is that if you are using both Collector and Survey123 is that you will need to save the same .tpk in two seperate locations on the field device. Is there any plans to have a central location to store .tpk files so that they can be stored only once but used in both applications? This would be super handy as some of our .tpk files cover all of Australia and can be reasonably large.

Hi all, Just wondering if anybody could provide some advice on the ports for Survey123, I think we may have to punch a hole in our staff WiFi firewall to upload surveys. We have an issue where we are unable to upload completed surveys using our staff WiFi network. We are able to download the survey, and also able to login via our Single Sign On for ArcGIS Online. We have been trying to troubleshoot it on our end, thinking that it may be a proxy issue. The fact that it is communicating in one direction without any issue is confusing the issue. I have been getting around this issue by just the data on my mobile phone to do the development work on our forms, but going forward this isn't really a solution. Thanks in advance, Cheers Dan

Sounds great! Fingers crossed I can make it across next year. It would be great to not only meet the team at Esri but also other users of Survey123 who attend. Thanks for those links too, the video about enterprise is very interesting! I will work my way through them all. Cheers Dan

Thank you so much for your help on this Marika. I have turned off the "Auto Detect Proxies" option and it has started to work without a problem. I completely uninstalled the application, turned back on the "Auto Detect Proxies" and it went back to crashing on startup (when connected) and on sign in (when not connected on start up, but connected after application opens). As soon as I turned the "Auto Detect Proxies" back off again, the application went back to working exactly as expected. I have just created a test app (just the standard advanced template) and published it. I have been able to submit a record from my mobile and view it in ArcGIS Online. So I am happy to say that this has worked. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP! It is strange that this has happened, not sure if it is a bug that is worth looking into as I haven't had this problem with previous versions of the Connect app.

Here is an interesting twist. The application opens fine when not connected to the internet! As soon as I connect to a wifi network or tether to my phone, application crashes when I try to sign in to my ArcGIS Online account. I have opened up the console and have found the following error: May 30 10:21:24 Daniels-MacBook com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.esri.app3f176dce02e5441ba568134e9cf25ecd.9536[470]): Service exited due to signal: Segmentation fault: 11 sent by exc handler[0]
