So we have a tool we run each morning that updates a table with information that our meter tech people need. this table is joined to a meter location layer that is in our sde. But because you can't publish a joined layer our tool creates a new FC out of the join and puts the new FC in a file GDB. We then have this mxd published to our AGS then we created a web map on AGOL that hits this service. Then our meter tech people use their iPads to access the web map with Explorer. Everything seems to work fine. the new data that is updated every morning is reflected in the web map. For example we had 311 records yesterday in the published mxd. and we had 311 records showing up in the web map. And today we ran the tool and we had 322 records in the mxd and 322 records in the web map. However. one of the fields in our table in the new FC that was created from the join is called "Read date" we can't seem to figure out why this is different in our published mxd and our web map. the web map table always reads a day behind. So for example we ran the tool today and the field has a read date of 7/9/2014 but whne we look at the same table in our web map it reads yesterdays date of 7/8/2014. We do know that the data is being updated because we compare and look at both data sets. it's just the weird date thing going on. Anybody else experience this issue. Erik

Randall No. in order for them to VPN in they need to be off our internal network. So if they are in or near our building they will be connected to our internal network automatically via Wi-Fi. And then of course as they head out into the field they loose the internal network and they then are on 3G or 4G. etc. Then they are able to VPN into our network. And when they are sucessfully VPN in they can access evrything as if they were here at the office on our internal network. This part is working fine. The issue arises when we are connected to our internal network via Wi-Fi on the iPad at the office we can not get our services to show up in our map it just times out. However if we turn Wi-Fi off and disconnect from our internal network (while still at the office) and we become connected to 3G or 4G then VPN in we then are able to get access to our services.

So we have started having our field employees use iPads. They currently use explorer for ArcGIS to access our maps which have services that reside on our GIS server. When there in the field they need to "VPN" into our server to be able to get the services and also to have access to our engineer drawings that are hyperlink to our water and sewer utility. So far we have had pretty good success. However we are experiencing a situation where we are not able to get our services to draw when we are connected to our internal Wifi. But they show up just fine when "VPN" into our server. would a permissions issue in iis cause this to happen? Erik

So as a quick follow up to my question. Looking at an older thread about this hindering issue. I tried one of the work arounds which was to add my service as "base map" that seemed to improve the zoom level. The problem that I am encountering is that when I switch to one of the base maps on AGOL I lose my original layer that I added as the base map. It disappears. Any help on this would be great Erik

Hello. Good morning. If anybody has an idea or a solution on how you get around the LOD of the base maps on AGOL. I need to be able to drill down further. Our water tech people need to be able to zoom-in pretty close at intersections where we have multiple valves. Any help would be greatly appreciated. They said they like using the Explorer app but if they can't zoom-in any closer they won't be able to use it. Thanks for any advice. Erik

Hello. I have registered a folder with our server. It worked however it is doing a weird thing. When I publish a service with data from the registered folder from my computer I don't get the warning about data not being registered. and everything is great. However when my co-worker publishes a service with data from the same folder (and we both have our computers mapped the same way.) she will get the warning "data not registered with server" so we right click the warning and go t show data register store. and click the edit button then click ok. Then re-analyze and it works. What happens is that the "publisher Folder hostname" box then displays her computer name. So then if I was to try and publish a service with the same data I would have to do what she did then that same box would have my computer name. What did I do wrong. See attached for what i am talking about. Thanks Erik

Brent Thanks for the response. May I ask the reasoning why they chose to restrict zooming on hyperlink content? seems like that is going to be troubling for a lot of people. I like the app so far but this limitation is kind of annoying. how difficult would it be to change all of our drawings which are in the thousands from hyperlink to attachments. Thanks again for your response.

So we have our engineering drawings hyperlinked to our water and sewer lines. And everything works good they open up just fine. However I am not able to zoom into the drawing when it opens up in explorer. is this just a limitation of the explorer window. or is there a trick to be able to zoom into our drawings. When I click the share button and open it in safari I am able to zoom in and out just fine. Any help would be great. Thanks Erik
