Hmm 40 hours VS. 4 minutes 30 seconds... so you're saying it's a little faster when done on your workstation? Unfortunately I didn't find any solution to this. I just accepted that some anti-aliasing is better than no anti-aliasing.

Thank you for the comments, George. Being pretty much an accidental DBA, this kind of insight is really helpful. I have definitely been through many of the threads on this subject over the years, my goal was to get a more current take on the issue. I have a contour/topography layer in my map service that exhibits the most obvious difference between sdebinary and geography. With over 800k rows of vertex-heavy features, with sdebinary it has very acceptable performance and with geography it can be unusable depending on the extent.

I have a couple of new server machines that I'm setting up with ArcGIS Server and SQL Server for our enterprise geodatabases. I'll be migrating our map services and geodatabases to the new servers but I have been doing a bit of testing first. In testing the time it takes to render a few different layers from a dynamic map service, I'm surprised to find that my simple feature classes stored in SDEBINARY still have a performance advantage over using the GEOMETRY spatial type. Same finding as when I went through all this years ago with older hardware and software. In some circumstances the difference is still dramatic. The servers are running Windows Server 2012 R2, SQL Server 2014, and ArcGIS Server 10.5.1. The geodatabase is 10.5.1. Anybody coming to the same conclusions? Or have you found the other spatial types to be better?

Are there any differences in functionality or compatibility with Enterprise geodatabases that have been created in ArcGIS Desktop vs Pro? In ArcCatalog, I looked at the properties of a geodatabase that I upgraded using Pro and it reported it as being a 10.6.0.2.1 gdb. So I see it appended the Pro release version to it. This is what prompted me to ask this question after some research turned up empty.

When looking at the fully qualified name of an sde geodatabase table in ArcMap or ArcCatalog, it is always displayed as DatabaseName.SCHEMA.TableName. At least it is with my setup: SQL Server 2014 and ArcGIS 10.4.1. Is there any way to make it so SCHEMA is not always displayed in all-caps? This is basically a non-issue, it's just annoying to look at, so it would be nifty if there was a way to change it. Thanks.

Good, I'm glad you got it working. By the way, if you do want to have your map tip layer be "invisible" you can do that, it's just that I had trouble getting map tips to work unless I set it up a certain way. That's why I mentioned it earlier. My parcels layer is setup with a black outline in my map service. When I added the layer by itself into my web map for using it as a map tips layer, I edited the layer's drawing style. I chose a color for the outline, rather than setting it to "no color", then cranked the transparency of the outline symbol up to 100%.

Mike, I was able to create a test app using your web map & data, and got the map tips working. So if you're still having problems, we might be able to figure it out.

The layer name as it is configured in your web map is "ParkLocations - Locations", so that is what it needs to be in the Anvil Map Tips config. Hopefully that takes care of it!

Hmm... your map tips layer, "Locations", did you happen to configure it with a null color for the symbols? So the layer is transparent? I did this when I was originally trying to get this widget working and it messed me up. Also, the tips won't display if there's a popup on the screen.

Mike, So you copied the AnvilMapTips folder into your app's widgets folder? And it looks like you added the reference to the widget in the correct place in the main config.json. I think the widget's "version": "2.3" should be "version": "1.1.0" unless you actually changed the version number to 2.3 in the widget's manifest.json. Now, when you go to configure your app, does Anvil Map Tips show up in your on screen widget list like this? If it's there, then you want to click to configure the widget, make sure everything looks good in the configuration, then click OK. If you do this, then it should create a config file for AnvilMapTips in your app's /configs folder. And it should add a reference to the widget's config file in your main config.json. Mine looks like this: {
"uri": "widgets/AnvilMapTips/Widget",
"position": {
"left": -1000,
"bottom": -1000,
"relativeTo": "map"
},
"version": "1.1.0",
"id": "widgets_AnvilMapTips_Widget_101",
"positionRelativeTo": "map",
"name": "AnvilMapTips",
"label": "Anvil Map Tips",
"icon": "widgets/AnvilMapTips/images/icon.png?wab_dv=2.1",
"config": "configs/AnvilMapTips/config_Anvil Map Tips.json"
}

Aha! Thank you so much Tom!! It took me long enough to figure out how to get it to work in the Web Appbuilder code, but it's perfect! I would not have been able to figure it out without your sample, really, thank you!

I would like to have the measurement result display three decimal places/thousandths when measuring distance in miles. We reference a lot of stuff by milepost, using three decimal places, which is the only reason I'm thinking about this.
