Since yesterday, we have been experience various issues with Survey123, simultaneously. I'm aware that these are several issues and they might be unrelated. However, because I have found these behaviour happening all at once, I thought I'd report it under the same post. Any help will be much appreciated. Firstly, when accessing My Surveys on Survey123.arcgis.com, some of the surveys come up with the error message "the survey does not exist or is not accessible" (see Photo2). This is happening to all the users in the organisation, and for the same type of surveys (to which all of us should have access to). We have many surveys, but they're based on one of a few templates we have created, based on the nature of the work. Some templates keep working, some don't. Then, one of the survey forms (and all copies based on this template) that is not showing details on browser, has also started to behave weirdly on Survey123 Connect and on the Survey123 apps. It's a multi-page grid survey type, and some of the questions have been compressed into a very small space where reading and typing is not possible (see Photo1). This shouldn't be a design flow, as it has been working for months until just yesterday. Lastly, a colleague of mine has reported that on Survey123 Connect, some of the thumbnails and actual surveys forms have been mixed up. Additionally, I have got reports from an app users claiming that field types behave differently in the same form, between one record and the next. For example, predictive text fields that stop working as predictive text, or minimal-autocomplete, select one type questions that come up empty with no options to choose from. Again, this happens in different records under the same form. We have had strange issues with AGOL and Survey123 before, but they always were resolved overnight and came back the next day to see everything working as usual. But, because this doesn't seem to be the case, I'm afraid there might be some action required on our end, but I'm clueless on how to go about this. Thank you, Rafa

This keeps happening to me randomly and I've just given up. If you cancel the log in enough times (maybe just as many times as layer are in your table of contents) it eventually opens the mxd. Normally it's quicker to log in for me. But it's unrelated to the presence or absence of AGOL layers in the mxd. If you find a reason, please let me know!

Thanks for letting us know. While I can't confirm that we won't be having issues in the near future again, since I have had no feedback in the last couple of days from other colleagues I will mark it as a solution. If the problem re-appears I guess you'll see me again! Thanks for your help @KevinBurke and everyone.

@KevinBurke adding to my previous reply, here's some feedback I had today regarding the use of Field Maps and behaviour found that would not occur with Collector on identically set-up webmaps: <<When using the Field Maps the [created features] would disappear and then reappear for no reason. A layer (not editable, for background) was taken off to make the locations clearer, but then [Field Maps] would randomly put locations on the plan with equally random names, nothing to do with [the surveyed features]. I closed the app and reopened it and it would put all layers back on and previous locations would have disappeared and only to reappear when we start to plot features again. It would give a white/greyish screen as if it was struggling to process the task in hand but still work. Throughout the day it would make features created on Field Maps disappear>> I appreciate this might not be the post for a review of Field Maps, but since the topic came up here I thought I'd mention it. Thanks

@DavidRichey Hi, I was reading your comment and it made me curious. When you say combine Survey123 'instruments' and Collector to write to the same database, what do you mean exactly? When I set up a webmap I customize the pop-ups with a hyperlink to a new Survey123 form, but it is stored separately and unlinked from the geometry on Collector. If there is a more 'integrated' way to combine Collector and Survey123 I would be very interested in hearing more! Also, when you say 'Collector maps built with the Classic Viewer' are you referring to Collector Classic or is there something I'm missing? Thank you!

@KevinBurke thanks for your reply. The answers to your questions: - We are working on Android (mainly Samsung devices -tablets and phones- and some Huawei tablet) - We have not tested Field Maps before. From looking at it briefly, it seemed almost identical to Collector in the way that we would use it. However I only came across it when trying to find solutions to our issues with Collector. Also, is there any example you could think of an example of what would make a webmap fail on Collector but not on Field Maps? Again, happy to use Field Maps if it works, but I don't think I could accept it as a solution especially if there are differences in the functioning of the app that I need to learn and then pass on to other users. - This has happened repeatedly with different unrelated maps. They all tend to be similar in the sense that we have a Feature Layer that is editable and one or two Feature Layers that are not, but just there to act as background (like a site boundary shp and a shapefile made of topographical or other CAD drawing features) in addition to the basemap. - Could you please give me some detail of how I would share this with you for further review? PS. Coming back to my original post, would you know why I'm not able to see any other developer options in Collector (when tapping on the user initials quickly three times) other than 'Placeholder'? Thank you

I have been reading through all previous posts that I could find, on any issues related to problems with downloading areas for offline use on Collector (not Collector Classic). In the few cases I have experienced recently, there are no copies of layers in the same webmap, or domain names that coincide with field names in any of the present layers (as discussed here and here). All layers are shared at organization and/or group level, with syncing enabled and offline mode enabled too for the webmap. When trying to download an offline area (Area 1), it simply stops soon after starting and shows a blank page with a message "No maps to display" or similar. When re-trying, it will attempt to download 'Area 2' but the result is the same. I have tried to find the log through Collector developer options, but the only thing I can see is 'Placeholder' which does nothing when selected. The webmap is created from 3x Feature Layer (Hosted). One was created in ArcMap and based on a File Geodatabase and the other two are shapefiles that have been 'dragged' in. This works fine on Collector Classic (and it has worked ok with Field Maps too), but the 'new' Collector (v 20.2.2) has very frequent issues with offline area download, even though the type of WebMap we create always follows the same structure. Despite all layers being shared at organisation and/or group level, I have found that the error is more likely to happen when the user who downloads it is not the same as the user who created the webmap, even though both have equal permissions on AGOL. Sorry for creating a new post - again after reading through other posts I found no solution to my case and I hope I can find some support here. I'm happy to provide any more information that might be useful to understand the problem.

Thanks Robert, I will try that the next time I see the login prompt. It happened again yesterday, and I wondered if it could also be due opening an mxd that was last used by someone else? If that was the case, and the other user was logged in as themselves, or not logged in at all, could it ask me to log in with my own credentials?

Hi Robert, It was going all well on Friday but I got one prompt towards the end of the day, but not sure if the mxd document had something special. I will keep monitoring it for the next couple of days and I will mark it as "Accept as Solution" if all goes fine.

Hi Robert, Thank you for your message. To the first question, yes, it's set to www.arcgis.com; to the second, no, the check box is empty. I have changed it now to sign in automatically so hopefully that will sort it?

Hi, For the last week or two I keep getting arbitrarily (so it seems) mxd documents that when opened, the ArcGIS Online login prompt appears. This is despite the mxd containing no data from ArcGIS Online. Sometimes I have noticed that, when prompted, if I cancel instead of login in, the window appears again, and it makes me cancel as many times as layers are in the table of contents. Eventually the mxd document opens, whether I login or not (after cancelling several times). Has anyone experienced this issue in recent times? (or not so recent). The rest of members within our ArcGIS Online organisation have had the same experience, so it might be an organisation-wide issue rather than a user-specific one. But perhaps this might be general to many ArcGIS Online organisations out there. Thanks.

Hi Felicity, The example I attached was based on a form where conditional statements where put on the same line just as you showed in your comment, but it still didn't work for me. The problem was that if {observation} was empty, then line 1 would result in a blank line and then the next field, for example {observation2} would go on line 2 in the word document, leaving the first line blank. However, I haven't tried yet to use the table-style word template. I will have a go and see how it behaves. Thanks for your comment

Hi, It would be very helpful if feature reports would not create blank space in place of conditional fields that for having no data recorded are not included in the feature report. For example, if my template contemplates data from a list of 15 fields (each under a condition statement to appear only if information was recorded) only a few fields get recorded each time, it's against the purpose of the feature reports to create a lot of unnecessary blank space where such data from fields with no data recorded would have been displayed. Instead, the current situation is that the resulting word documents need much editing to be presentable. If any solution could be applied to this issue, it will result in much more versatile feature reports. Thank you.

Hi, I have recently started playing with the Feature Report word templates to download Survey123 data. I have read the basic documentation provided by ESRI on data formatting, conditionals, etc., which has been quite useful. However I find myself now with a template I have created for a Survey123 form that contains many fields, of which only a small number of them get filled in at any one record. I have created a Feature Report word template which includes all fields in the Survey123 form under different conditional statements to show only the fields that have any data within each form. The problem is that the resulting word document creates a lot of unnecessary empty space and pages, probably because of the numerous fields in the form and template which, for having no data recorded, do not appear. Is there a way to avoid this? Hopefully something obvious and I'm just not seeing it, but nonetheless I would appreciate any help or similar experienced form other users. I attach a sample feature report for illustration. Thanks

Hi Philip, I was wrong, what I meant is that all records where in the outbox (not in drafts), which my colleague tried to send all at once. They didn't notice the forms being gone, it was assumed they had been submitted. When I logged in through Chrome to check the submitted data, I couldn't see anything, but nothing was left in the tablet either. Regarding the sqlite file, I tried to retrieve it to at least have some sort of copy of the data, but it wasn't there. It was as if nothing had ever been taken. No one had reported that kind of behavior, before or since. This happened on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-T590), Android version 0, Survey123 3.7.57. Thanks, Rafa
