Ok, well that does make sense. Unfortunately nothing is different following the command and resulting "undefined". I'll report back on the eventual solution. Thanks, Brandon

Thanks Robert, The googling I've done doesn't appear to be working and rather than spend too much more time on it I'm going to submit an esri incident. I'll post back when the incident is resolved with my final solution. I appreciate your thoughts and effort, yours too Rebecca Strauch Best, Brandon

Hi Robert, I'd like to try your firefox workflow but I'm unable to connect to our internal applications using firefox. If you've done some troubleshooting with different browsers and ADFS and web-tier security I can elaborate otherwise we can leave it be. The only thing I've been able to modify is the images, but only when I change the name of the physical file and not when I change the name in the config.json file. For instance, when I rename a png image I made to thumbnail_great_wall.png then China comes up like this in the bookmarks But when I change the name of the China "thumbnail" value to images/Askov.png I get the same image I physically renamed to thumbnail_great_wall.png Any chance it's the program I'm using (Notepad ++)? I've tried everything I can find on google from clearing cache in IE and Chrome. Thanks, Brandon

Hi Larry, Is the code for the widget transparency functionality somewhere I could look at? It seem helpful. Thanks, Brandon

Hi Rebecca, A good assumption. Yes, I am using the developer's edition and I'm sorry I didn't make that clear from the start. I've been able to successfully modify the code, as in save the changes in notepad ++, but the changes don't show up when I look at the app again. I have certainly made bracket and other syntax errors but I can't even make a change like swapping "Alaksa" for "ALASKA_FOREVER!!!". The only change I seem able to make it by removing the images folder the same bookmarks show up without images. Other than that I seem to be helpless. Thanks, Brandon

Hi Robert, This is really cool; thank you! If we ever meet in person at a conference I owe you, and all the other folks on geonet who have helped me, a beer. Or if that's not your thing then a firm handshake. I'll put on my Oliver Twist hat and ask if it would be possible to filter the bookmark list based on the search criteria. I like how it highlights the bookmark when you search but in the case where I have many similarly named bookmarks it could still involve a good deal of scrolling. For example, I have 30 bookmarks that start with "S". A user might type "S" a be brought down to where the S's start but still have to scroll. Don't get me wrong I really like the functionality so far but just wonder if what I'm describing would be possible. I'm also having issues modifying the bookmark config.json file. I'm able to make the changes but when I save and refresh the page I don't see any of the changes. I posted my issue here How do I add bookmarks via code to bookmark widget in web app builder application? and perhaps you have some thoughts on that as well. Thanks, Brandon

I have a bookmark widget I'm working on that will wind up containing a number of bookmarks. In the current application that I'm working to replace users are used to scrolling through a long list to get to their desired bookmark. Putting aside the discussion of why they want bookmarks vs. searching in a geocoder I'd like to offer them search functionality in the bookmarks list. Off the bat I'd imagine changing the "add bookmark" input space into a search box. Any thoughts on this? As always I'm also open to other methods to accomplish my goal of simplifying my users lives. Thanks, Brandon

I’m trying to add a number of new bookmarks into an existing web app builder application we have on our arcgis server. I believe that I’ve followed the correct syntax but the main issue is that I’m not seeing any changes when I edit the config.json file in the bookmark widget folder. I’ve tried clearing my cache, creating a new application with the new file, yelling, etc. Can someone help me with the correct workflow or with tricks for adding new bookmarks to an existing web app builder application bookmark config.json? Thanks, Brandon

Thanks Rebecca, I've used your living document many times as a reference. Thanks for putting it together and for your thoughts on my question. I like the idea of making a geoprocessing widget that would display a pop-up, like the one you show, on a mouse-click. It would be a very similar experience to what the users are getting now. I'm just not familiar with how I would show the pop-up. I do already have "Where Am I" as it's own service thinking that there might already be an identify widget that I could set to only look for the service. I'm probably missing it in your reply but where can I find info on customizing my pop-ups to look like the one you show? I really like how you can see behind the pop-up window. Best, Brandon

I'm in the middle of a project to replace a legacy third-party GIS program with an application built in Web App Builder. One of the most beloved tools in the legacy program is something called the "Where Am I?" tool. The user clicks the button and then clicks in the map and is returned a table of information about where they clicked. Things like township, range, school district, electric company, etc. I'd like some help/advice on how best to accomplish this in the WAB environment. The simplest solution (zero coding) just adds the "Where Am I" service into the map layers. My concern is training my user community to remember to click through the records to get to the "Where Am I" portion. Are there any other thoughts? Like an identify-style widget that only looks at the Where Am I service. Any thoughts are appreciated. Best, Brandon

Hi Chris, Yes I have run the developer tools before. Some projects have worked better than others but I suspect that is my lack of knowledge rather than the tools themselves. I will do as you suggest and let you know if I run into trouble. I have another question that may have a similar answer. Is it possible to move the pop-up window or change the leader length? I can branch this into a new discussion if that would be more appropriate. Thanks, Brandon
