I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but I had an issue with publishing a feature class to ArcGIS.com from Desktop with feature attachments, whereas the attachments would disappear once they reached ArcGIS.com. As soon as I removed the field in my attribute table called "AttributeID", the attachments would no longer fail on the upload. So this post came up in my google search, i just thought i'd mention to try removing any field names called "AttributeID" and see if it fixes your problem.

I have about 3000 points with a small PDF attachment for each point (200 to 300kb attachment size). When I publish to ArcGIS.com from ArcMap Desktop 10.4, it takes a long time, shows the attachments copying up to ArcGIS.com. However when I view the feature service in ArcGIS.com Pop-up, there is no attachment. There is a know issue with this, but it relates to an "ObjectID" field being renamed, but in this case, my was not and still reads "ObjectID" http://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000011888 Any thoughts or workarounds? I recreated the entire layer and re-published it a second time, but the attachments still disappear in ArcGIS.com Thanks

I am having the same problem exporting a feature layer (hosted) to a File GDB. One service has a about 1000 points with some of them having picture attachments, the other literally has 1 point with one picture. I either get a generic error exporting to file GDB or an error that says not enough disk space. there is about 600 credits in our account now, so that shouldn't be an issue. I've tried it in both internet explorer and Chrome, same error. I looked for the "create replica" option on the Rest service page, but that option does not exist. Any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks Dan. I checked the requirements for the Explorer for ArcGIS App, and the language is very confusing, and makes it sound like you need to be a level 2 user to open a map that is shared with you privately in an organization. http://doc.arcgis.com/en/explorer/ipad/help/requirements.htm Anyone can use Explorer to view sample maps as well as search for public maps on ArcGIS Online. To use your maps (both those you've created and those shared with you) in Explorer, you must have an ArcGIS account. ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise are supported. Portal for ArcGIS 10.4.1 is also supported. To create maps for Explorer, you must have an ArcGIS account. If a member of an organization on ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise, you must be a level 2 member. Portal for ArcGIS 10.4.1 and public accounts on ArcGIS Online are also supported

I have a client that has a Level 2 ArcGIS.com account and has underground utility mapping for viewing in the Collector App. If they add Level 1 "View only" users for additional field crew members, can the Level 1 users still use the Collector App just to "look" at the utility mapping in the field? Or would the Level 1 users have to use the Explorer App for viewing the utility mapping? I don't have a Level 1 account to test this. Thanks

As far as I can tell, I always get a location on the map in collector, it just isn't very accurate if it is using only android location services instead of the NMEA.

I get the NMEA message on startup on my Galaxy S7 (US Verizon), my Galaxy S5 (US Verizon), and my Google Nexus 7 Tablet (wifi). All of these devices were used with Collector for a long time with no NMEA warning messages, until the last 2 collector updates, not they all get the message all the time. Dan

After the latest AGOL update, I checked, and vector basemaps now appear to work with the print widget in web appbuilder (non-developer version). Is this function fully supported now? I would love to start using more of the vector basemaps in some of our apps. thanks Dan

I can't say I've noticed Collector not updating the position. When it uses the android location services instead of the NMEA, it just seems less accurate. Can you describe your map setup, environment your using it in, and what happens when the intermittent suspected bug happens? I can certainly try to duplicate on my S7. Have you tried switching your device to phone GPS only in Android/settings/location to see if that changes what you think is a bug? Dan

In addition to my S7 I fired up my old Samsung S5, with a 6 month old version of Collector, no error. I updated it to version 17.0.2, bam, NMEA error message. I did some troubleshooting and it appeared as though if I opened collector inside, I would get the NMEA error most times. If I went outside in the open, opened Collector, then immediately tapped to open a map, I would always get the error. If I went outside, opened Collector, then let is sit for 15 or 20 seconds before opening a map, I wouldn't get the error, sometimes. I also found that the very first time I opened a Collector Map after a phone restart, I almost never received NMEA message. After that first time though it was a crap shoot if I would receive the NMEA error. Also, it is my understanding that if you tap the GPS status button in the bottom left and only see 4 fields, then you are only using the android location services. If you see 8 fields, then you are using the NMEA location. Sometimes I would see 4 fields, even though I did not get the NMEA message. If mine showed 4 fields, I would get accuracy of about 19 feet, and it would not match my location on the aerial very well. If I got 8 fields in the gps status, my accuracy would drop down to 10 feet, and my location would by much closer to where I was actually standing on the aerial. I even went so far as doing a hard reset on my S7 to see if that would fix the issue, but it did not. Perhaps collector is doing the same thing it always has, but the tolerance for the error message was lowered?

Hi Doug, I am running Android Version 7.0 on Samsung Galaxy S7, with security patch date of May 1, 2017. My phone says it is up to date with no other updates available. I just tested it again this morning in an open parking lot with 19 satellites, and it wont get any better than 14.9 feet accuracy. Still getting the NMEA error message. My phone always would show 10 ft as the accuracy before this last Collector update. I tried re-installing the app and restarting the phone, but that did not make a difference. Let me know if there is anything you would like me try. Thanks

Google My Maps has a great solution to this problem. They allow you to share the custom map with "anyone who has the link". You can specify if they have the ability to view or edit. The only downside of the Google My Maps approach, is it gives the viewer the ability to download the source data as a KML. If ArcGIS.com had a sharing option for "anyone with this link", with view or anonymous edit options that would be ideal for most of what I need. Perfect example, say our President wants to see our confidential client list map, I can send him a map with an "anyone with this link" sharing option. As long as he does not send that link to anyone, the information will be private. He has no desire to setup an ArcGIS.com account, he just wants to view a private map without having to log in. So for this type of instance, I have abandoned ESRI, and started using Google My Maps. Its easier, faster, and free. I hope ESRI comes out with a solution to this issue soon. Thanks.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 (US Verizon), and use Collector regularly. I updated the App to version 17.0.1 (June 5, 2017) this morning, and now every time I open Collector, I get the error message "collector for arcgis your device is not sending valid NMEA. Using android location services to determine your location". I have never received this message on this Galaxy S7 prior to the June 5, 2017 update. My location does show on the map, but it is giving me an accuracy of no better than 20 feet, instead of the usual 10 feet. If I switch my android location settings to "phone GPS only", I did not get the error/warning message the first few times, but now I get the message even with my phone set to GPS only. I have closed and reopened the app about 30 times, and I get the message every time now. Any workaround https://community.esri.com/community/gis/applications/collector-for-arcgis?sr=search&searchId=175311e9-cb58-4c3c-93f0-82046cd3e545&searchIndex=0

This has happened twice now (ArcGIS desktop 10.4.1) in unrelated projects with different data: General steps: Publish new hosted feature service from .MXD to ArcGIS.com organizational account. Add feature service to ArcGIS.com Map, and change symbols and pop-ups, save ArcGIS.com map. At later a date, overwrite feature service with new data using original publishing .Mxd and cartography. Open ArcGIS.com map, and the attribute data and symbols have gotten "jumbled" in the map. By jumbled I mean for example, if I had hydrants, valves, and meters in my original map, after I overwrite the service the hydrants show up on the valve layer, the valves show up as meters, and the meters show up as hydrants on the map. The attribute data tables are also attached to the wrong layers. I have been using ArcGIS online since it first came out, and I have never seen anything like it. The only work around I could find was to delete my feature service and publish a new one. Has anyone else had this problem? Perhaps this was addressed in the 10.5 update? Thanks
