This is very strange, I typed out a long reply documenting what was causing this problem, and it displayed in the post, but now it it gone. Did you receive my previous reply? Possibly I deleted it when I went to edit the reply? Anyway to summarize my layer was labels only in ArcGIS.com map so I had the 100% transparency on the master level. This worked fine in ArcGIS.com hiding the symbol and just displaying the label, but did not work in field maps. So I removed the 100% transparency from the layer and instead applied it just to the symbol and this worked in Field maps. Allowing the symbol to be invisible, and just the labels to show. thanks

Hey Colin, Thank you so much for your reply, it helped me troubleshoot and figure out the cause. I think I basically uncovered an inconsistency between ArcGIS.com and field maps. In this case I wanted to give users the ability to turn on and off hydrant labels from the app. So I copied the hydrant layer, with the copy version have labels turned on, and transparency at 100% and pop-ups turned off. This works perfectly in ArcGIS.com map viewed with a desktop browser. Sounds like the master level transparency slider does not affect labels in ArcGIS.com since they still display in the map, but does affect the labels when the same map is viewed in ArcGIS field maps app. As a work around, I removed the master transparency from the hydrant copy layer, and went into the symbol itself and applied a 100% transparency. Once I did that, I can see my labels in both the ArcGIS.com map and the ArcGIS Field maps app, and still have the ability to turn off my "labels layer" in the app when field crews don't need to see the labels. Thanks Dan

Hello I have a water system map that has hydrants with a label for the hydrant ID number setup in my ArcGIS online map (hosted feature service). When I open this map with the ArcGIS Field maps app (Android version 20.2.0), the hydrant ID labels do not display. Is there a setting I need to turn on, or are labels not supported yet? Thanks

I was able to follow these directions to modify the hatch symbol of my hosted feature layer. There are two colors in there to change, one for the outline which seems to update the outline symbol just fine if I change the 4 digit value. The problem I am having if i change the first color value right after the hatch style, it doesn't seem to do anything to the hatch line color. All hatch symbol lines are black. Is there any workaround to this? Thanks Dan

Thanks David. Hopefully soon then. I was looking at this as a possible replacement for an AppBuilder application that is hosted on argis online. I know the client likes to print maps. I'll sit on the sidelines with this product until it develops a bit more. best Dan

Thanks for the tip. I will try the json editor. I didn't see that when I was looking before but I do see it now. I like where this product is going. Watermarking the photos with timestamp and gps lat long, store duplicate local copies of photos, and the option to use native camera app would be high on my list. Also if you are moving, recording the bearing as an attribute for points would be great so that the direction you were facing can be used symbolize the point symbol.

I would like to use the quick capture app for our construction inspectors to quickly document a field condition with a photo. For example, Damage to Tree, Damage to Pavement, or Damage to Sidewalk. It seems to work well, accept the quick capture photo app doesn't have any settings like flash or HDR like the normal camera app, and the photo quality is very low resolution which makes the pictures not good enough to use. Is there a way to modify the photo resolution capture? Can you have it use the native camera app instead of the quick capture app camera function? We also would like an option to store the picture permanently on the phone and perhaps time and date stamp the photo like Survey 123. If any of this is possible now, please let me know. I could not find any options in the QC app or Designer. Thanks

Hit the button in the top left of the app, then select status. you should see a row of ID numbers, flags, then next field is CF. Also, assuming your phone is on the december update for the pixel. Although, i still don't see and "official posts on the google pixel forum about this feature being active, despite seeing a few android news outlets reporting it was turned on with the december update. so who knows.

Hi Doug, I am not an expert by any means but I read in another post if on the "status" tab in GPSTest if the CF field shows "L5", then your device is seeing the second band. Right now I am seeing 23 of 40 total satellites L1 & L5 inside my office. That number went up a bit outside. Now whether apps outside of google maps or GPS status can actually do anything with that extra L5 info is outside my area of knowledge. If I recall these apps usually get some kind of core location NMEA GPS string from the device that give a position and an estimated error value, if I remember from previous reading on this topic. There are NMEA string recording apps out there to create a log file of what your device is reporting to the apps. Might be worth seeing trying to see what it is reporting.

Using the GPSTest app you can put in the location of a known point and it will tell you how far you are from it. Using my Pixel 4 I went out in the parking lot at work, where I have a sewer grate I located with our survey trimble r10. I input those coordinates to GPSTest, and it said my pixel 4 was 7 to 8 feet away when i was standing with the phone over the sewer grate. I stayed there for a good 5 minutes and the accuracy valued pretty much stayed in that range. The skyplot said I was tracking 24 satellites, including three US L5's I flipped over to the Collector app (Beta version), and it jumped about 20 feet away, then slowly came back to roughly were I was. I collected three points about a minute apart with collector. Looking at them back in the office. the spread between the three points was only 0.4 feet, but they were 13 feet away from the survey point reference I was using. So at this moment, the Collector app does not appear to be taking advantage of the L5 band like the GPSTest app is, just based on the location shifting without me moving going back and forth between the apps. Anyone care to suggest if I am doing something wrong in this testing?

The December update for the Pixel 4 is supposed to add the dual band support. I downloaded the GPSTest app and it shows my phone tracking the L1 and L5 US satellites. Collector for ArcGIS app still shows 12 foot "reported" accuracy, which is probably a value it picks up from the GPS string as an estimate value. Not sure if there is additional setup in Collector that has to happen to use the dual band, similar to a high accuracy GPS profile you need to use a high accuracy Bluetooth GPS receiver. I also noticed using the GPSTest app on android, it seemed to show my spot on the aerial very close to where I was standing. When i switched to Collector (on my pixel 4) it jumped my position a good 10 feet from where I was standing relative to the aerial photo.

update 2: restarted computer, opened arcpro, indexing still off, now back to taking 1 to 2 minutes. Also, if I click on a project sub-folder in the network directory before Pro finishes populating the entire list of 2,000 sub-folders, the sub-folder I click on is empty, even though it is not really empty. very frustrating waste of my productive time.
