Too bad to see that Esri is not engaging on this idea; we also need this. I've submitted this request, more or less, with Esri Technical Support as ENH-000136181: Allow for users to update attributes from Hosted Tables in ArcGIS Online via Web AppBuilder If there's a response from Esri I'll report back here.

I just ran into this issue again a few times today. I'll run it by Esri Technical Support, perhaps they have an enhancement request on file that is specific to ArcGIS Pro.

Per Kory Kramer this 10yo Idea is now applicable for consideration in #arcgis-pro, too.

The blog post doesn't mention that: 1) When working with an existing Dashboard, a new URL must be distributed 2) The Dashboard is still accessible without a splash screen at the original URL This is a limited work-around, but thanks for sharing it.

Kory Kramer, unfortunately we can't stop geoprocessing history from writing to the metadata when using Python packaged with Pro due to #BUG-000128506 Arcpy.SetLogHistory(False) is inconsistent when running in a python script in a Python 3 environment. On the second point, based on testing reported by Esri Technical Support, exporting the metadata from Pro without Sensitive Information or Machine Names and then importing it back into Pro will not remove this information from the source metadata. We need to redact the embedded metadata. Please let me know if you find either of these not to be the case, or have additional thoughts on point #2. Thanks!

POST

After a protracted case with Esri Technical Support we found that: 1) Manually cloning a Python environment for ArcGIS Pro (2.5.2) using the copy and paste method outlined above results in an environment that displays in Pro, but can't have any packages installed or updated. 2) Editing the .condarc file located at :\Program Files\ArcGIS\Pro\bin\Python to include a non-indented line specifying: ssl_verify: False did allow us to clone a fully-functional Python environment in the Pro Manage Environments window. We have a SSL intercept in our environment, so that was the cause of the issue in our case. Worth noting is that the offline mode is broken in Conda, so if you try to specify offline mode and are having SSL or other connectivity issues the cloning may still fail because it's still trying to reach a remote server to clone some packages. If you hover of the error icon it will sometimes display one or more error messages, which in some cases contain useful information. Dan Patterson will have a better understanding of how all of this does and should work, but that's what I can share based on recent experience of my self and others. Somewhat related, I've found that the Update Packages doesn't appear to reflect accurate information or work at 2.5.2, but Technical Support is still investigating that after reproducing the issues.

The Standard template is a huge improvement over the Basic template - will check out the other items as time allows, too. Thank you!

We too have found that using the Assistant creates a dashboard that needs most of the widgets reconfigured or replaced. This is an outstanding issue, and I'm working with one of our users on this today. A better solution would be great...

Esri Technical Support reports: ENH-000125277: Allow for exact matching of the query string used in the search function of the ArcGIS API for python. This Enhancement has been closed and is not in the current product plan. The reasoning is that the search function is not designed for exact searching. See the documentation quoted below. https://developers.arcgis.com/rest/users-groups-and-items/search-reference.htm This search engine uses many different inputs to find the appropriate results and rank them. This often makes search 'fuzzy', making it ideal for human interaction, but not necessarily ideal for looking for specific records programmatically. Developers should avoid using search to find specific items (e.g. by title) as the results of these types of queries might change as the search engine evolves. Since the Enhancement Request is closed and this ArcGIS Idea has a status of New after two years it doesn't appear that Esri is considering implementing this request. At least there are some work-arounds from users in this thread.

When an ArcGIS Online Notebook disconnects from the kernel it does not fail gracefully, with overlapping error messages, and various parts of the Notebook interface fail, such as Files, Save, etc. Some of these error messages are generic and not useful, such as: "An error has occurred" Proposal: unify error messages, and ensure they provide meaningful information.
